Chapter 18: Impure World Reincarnation
"This ninja's body is in pretty good shape, and he even has some resistance to Yang attribute chakra."
Kenichi Amamiya watched the rise and fall of the man's chest with great interest.
In order to observe more clearly, he had removed several of the man's ribs. It meant the ninja would not live much longer, but Kenichi did not particularly care.
He had just successfully triggered lung cancer in the test subject. Abnormalities were already appearing in the man's body, all classic signs of early stage cancer.
"Cough, cough, cough..."
The test subject doubled over, hacking violently. Kenichi silently increased the injection of Yang attribute chakra, his attention focused on guiding it precisely into the cluster of cancer cells that had already reached a certain size.
What were cancer cells?
They were malignant cells that plundered nutrients from healthy cells to accelerate their own division and growth.
If he infused them with even more life force, then the result was obvious.
Almost visibly, the spread of the cancer cells sped up. The test subject's coughing worsened, flecks of blood spattering from his mouth as his breathing grew ragged and labored.
"My idea was right. Yang attribute chakra can stimulate the growth of cancer cells and artificially create cancer inside a target's body."
Kenichi felt genuinely pleased. This was already a successful first stage.
If he could refine this entire process into a full technique and test the success rate, then he could confidently claim to have created a unique ninjutsu.
"I remember there is a medical ninjutsu called the Delicate Illness Extraction Technique that can draw out toxins and foreign substances," he muttered, rubbing his chin. "But that should be useless against this."
At this point, Kenichi was already able to accurately inject Yang attribute chakra into the cancer cells themselves. Under his guidance, the cells had begun to show clear signs of metastasis, preparing to spread through the body.
In his previous life, once cancer started spreading like this, it basically meant you might as well reserve a cremation slot and wait.
Kenichi calmly stitched the ninja's chest back up and handed the man over to the base's medical team, instructing them to do their best to treat the patient.
He wanted to see whether the medical system of the ninja world could handle cancer at all.
If they could, then the practical value of this ninjutsu would drop sharply.
If they could not, then he would have a technique that could easily be classified as a forbidden art.
"You are done with your experiment?"
When Kenichi went to find his teacher, he saw two dead ninjas laid out on Orochimaru's experimental table.
There was still a strange residual smell in the air, and a faint layer of dust clung to the surface of the table.
Impure World Reincarnation?
Kenichi immediately thought of that particular forbidden technique.
"Yes, teacher. The experiment produced some results. I have handed the test subject over to the medical team to see if they can cure him," Kenichi reported respectfully, acting as if he knew nothing.
"Good. But do not neglect your ninjutsu training," Orochimaru said with a nod. "That is the real foundation of a ninja's livelihood."
Orochimaru had always been someone who liked to delegate.
From another angle, he was an excellent commander, though his cold and ruthless nature was also part of that.
"Understood, teacher."
Kenichi had already drawn up a clear plan for himself during this period.
First was ninjutsu and physical training, which could not be allowed to fall behind.
Second were the tasks Orochimaru assigned him.
Third was continuing to research and perfect his cancer inducing ninjutsu.
Ever since obtaining Hashirama Senju's Sage Body, Kenichi had gained an enormous amount of Yang Release chakra.
The only regret was that he had not awakened Wood Release.
That disappointed him somewhat. Wood Release was still one of the most powerful bloodline abilities in the entire ninja world. With it, capturing tailed beasts for research would be far easier.
Just thinking of the tailed beasts made his heart stir.
Each one possessed its own unique abilities, yet all of them were terrifyingly strong. Even if their image seemed to weaken later on, their actual power remained undeniable.
Otherwise, they would never have been treated by the villages as living weapons, a deterrent equivalent to nuclear arms.
"I have a ninjutsu I intend to teach you," Orochimaru said suddenly.
He sat calmly in his chair, but the moment he spoke, Kenichi felt his heart skip a beat.
The scene was too familiar.
Impure World Reincarnation was an extremely powerful forbidden technique. Although it required some bodily tissue from the deceased as a medium, there was no custom of cremation in the ninja world.
No one knew how many samples of the First Hokage's cells were still scattered around.
And Kenichi also knew where the Second Hokage's grave was.
"Is it Lightning Release ninjutsu from the Hidden Cloud?" Kenichi asked, deliberately sounding excited.
He could not appear too abnormal. With his current official strength, it made no sense for him to have access to Konoha's forbidden techniques.
"No. It is another powerful, and extremely dangerous, forbidden technique," Orochimaru replied.
He casually tossed a scroll to Kenichi.
Kenichi caught it, opened it, and glanced down.
The words "Impure World Reincarnation" were written clearly inside.
Even though he had already guessed as much, seeing it with his own eyes still made his heart race. This forbidden art really was on an entirely different level.
"What do you think of it?" Orochimaru took a sip of tea and looked at Kenichi with interest, curious how his chosen disciple would evaluate the technique.
"It is very powerful, but also extremely dangerous," Kenichi said after reading through the contents. "It is highly practical, but once used, it will definitely cause countless problems."
"Oh? And why is that?" Orochimaru asked, his tone neutral.
"Because it resurrects the dead. That alone makes it a blasphemous ninjutsu. Once it is used openly, it will definitely provoke disgust and rejection from a lot of people," Kenichi replied, a bit helpless.
His teacher loved asking questions he clearly already knew the answers to.
There was no way Orochimaru, of all people, had not thought this far.
"But they would also be extremely powerful. As long as those resurrected can regain part of their original strength, they will be outstanding combat units, and there is no need to worry about them dying again," Kenichi added with a shrug.
Impure World Reincarnation really was terrifying.

"Then I will teach it to you. Do you have the courage to learn it?" Orochimaru asked with a faint smile.
"Of course I do!" Kenichi answered without hesitation.
This was a forbidden technique. It would be ridiculous not to learn it.
