Chapter 34 - Chapter 33: Didn't Treat Me as an Outsider

As mentioned before, Luca was preparing to check the programs inside White and try to add some things to him.

Of course, it wasn't as simple as just modifying the startup and shutdown voices or adjusting the emotional module.

More importantly, Luca was preparing to add some combat programs to White, just like Hiro Hamada did in the original Big Hero 6.

However, the prerequisite for all of this was still for Luca to first confirm whether he had the ability to do so.

After the computer booted up, Luca turned to look at White, who was standing nearby, originally intending to call him over, but as he looked up, Luca's vision suddenly went dark.

"Why are you still holding that box? Put it down first, put it aside! Plug it in to charge!"

"Medical Companion Portable Storage Case currently has sufficient power, continuous charging is not recommended." (●—●)

'Good gracious, this box has such a formal name?'

"...Then don't charge it, put the box down, come here..."

Luca, who was too lazy to argue with White, this simple-minded robot, sighed helplessly and pointed to the corner, issuing a new command.

This time, the obedient White dutifully placed the box in the corner, pulled out the power cord, looked at it, then draped it beside the box, and only then walked over to Luca.

However, before Luca could speak, White's gentle, unfluctuating voice rang out again.

"Scan results indicate that your current state suggests you should rest as soon as possible and enter a sleep state. Prolonged stay up will lead to decreased metabolism, impaired immunity, and other harms..."

"Hmm? Didn't I say not to initiate scans without my permission?"

"The previous directive was 'Do not casually scan other people's physical conditions without my permission.' In protocol judgment, Luca does not belong to 'others.' Do you wish to be added to this directive?" (●—●)

"...I thank you, not treating me as an outsider."

"Your gratitude has been received." (●—●)

"..."

"Do you wish to be added to this directive?"

White asked again, 'relentlessly.'

'I'll be damned...'

A curse almost slipped out, but Luca ultimately held back. After thinking for a moment, he decided not to dwell on it with this guy. Considering that constant scanning could also help him understand his own physical condition, he simply chose to let it be.

"No need, scan anytime. But remember, if other people are present in the future, don't casually reveal my physical condition."

Fearing that White might misinterpret his meaning again, Luca quickly added another sentence.

"And, the premise is that if I don't need other people to rescue me. In an emergency, you should still say it."

"New protocol added." (●—●)

'Alright, although he's a bit simple-minded, it seems pretty good.'

Finally, having dealt with this guy's interruptions, Luca raised his hand and tapped the chip compartment on White's chest, and the cylindrical chip compartment immediately popped open.

Luca directly reached in and took out the emerald green chip, which contained White's core data, and twirled it in his hand.

"Hmm ~ There should be spare chips of this model at home ~"

The chip was inserted into the computer.

Uploading to the database.

Opening the operation module...

The first thing, naturally, was to check the manufacturing process recorded in White's database, as he had mentioned.

However, it wasn't quite what Luca had expected. The database didn't contain White's complete manufacturing process; instead, it was a video recording of Hiro Hamada's entire process from the initial design to the completion of White.

Although such videos were also very useful, compared to direct blueprints, many of the steps and processes would require Luca to research and refine them himself.

'Moreover, some things that people in that World might only need to order and purchase, here with me, would have to be entirely new black technologies developed from scratch.'

'It seems I'll still need to spend a lot of time to truly replicate White later.'

After temporarily setting aside this task, which was destined to consume a lot of time, Luca briefly browsed the other contents of this chip.

This time, however, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

The situation was much better than Luca had previously worried.

Perhaps because this version of White was still in the development stage, although Luca currently couldn't understand many things in the core part, Hiro Hamada's overall module design was very clean and clear when he created White, leaving ample room for modification in all directions.

Even without adjusting the core code, upgrades and modifications could still be made.

For example, for the combat module Luca wanted to load, the original program even included a video motion capture plugin.

He only needed to load the actions he wanted White to 'learn' into the designated module, and White could directly master all the movements through motion capture inference.

Moreover, Luca didn't need to worry about the core medical program causing White to refuse to fight, unlike Hiro Hamada in the original plot.

Due to the existence of 'Zero Law,' as long as Luca gave an order, White would obey without hesitation.

'Hmm, it's better to get a separate extra chip, just in case the original one has problems. Then I'd have nowhere to cry.'

After a brief thought, Luca simply retrieved another chip, copied the action system onto it, and then loaded various common practical combat techniques, even firearm usage, special forces tactical movements, and other data, all into this brand new chip.

In fact, by the time he finished this step, Luca was already feeling a bit sleepy.

His emotions had fluctuated greatly throughout the day, and coupled with continuous focused work, his mind inevitably felt fatigued.

However, considering the current situation, Luca still decided to finish all the remaining work in one go.

Next was to scan White's body shape and design external armor based on the data.

The more troublesome part here was that Luca needed to design the models himself.

Even with the assistance of algorithms written by his father, Hermann, in the computer, this was still not a small undertaking.

"Hmm, the gauntlets need more edges and extra counterweights."

"The carbon fiber bulletproof performance printed at home is still a bit lacking, so the body armor needs to be smoother."

"The stomach area... Never mind, it's better to keep the inflatable interior. At least it can provide an additional cushioning function. At worst, I can deflate it first, then put on and take off the armor."

"Uh, it doesn't seem very neat, is it a bit ugly? Hmm, it's fine, it's just a shell, and White doesn't have aesthetics."

He continued to work diligently, muttering softly to keep himself awake.

He worked for most of the night until all the modeling data was imported into the 3D printer, and only then did Luca finally relax a little.

"This 3D printer at home is still far inferior to the large machines at the company, both in printing speed and product strength."

"But I'll make do with it for now. I'll upgrade White again at the company later if I get the chance."

Having handled all of this, looking at the slowly uploading combat video and the 3D printer chugging away, starting to print.

Luca estimated that it would take at least until tomorrow... well, this afternoon, for both of these to be completed.

Luca, who let out a big yawn, reinstalled White's original green chip, and with a face full of sleepiness, called out,

"Let's go, White, upstairs to sleep ~"
