"The military reserves of the Earth Alliance Forces are astonishing!" Doug exclaimed in surprise.
Felix smiled and replied, "They are nations that have developed over hundreds of years, so it's natural for them to have profound reserves. It's normal that our PLANT can't match them in terms of depth and military stockpiles."
"Captain Griffith, what should we do in the upcoming battle?" Doug nodded in agreement and asked Felix.
Facing the question, Felix answered without hesitation, "Our mission is to defend Victoria Spaceport, so we only need to wait for the enemy to attack. If they don't, we'll maintain vigilance and prepare."
"I understand, Captain Griffith!" Doug nodded and responded to Felix.
After his reply, the three of them gathered to discuss the deployment of forces for the upcoming battle.
Meanwhile, at the Earth Alliance Forces command post on the outskirts of Victoria Spaceport.
Hope received a communication from headquarters.
"General!" Hope saluted and greeted.
The General nodded slightly in response and began conveying the Council's orders. "According to the Council's discussion, reinforcements will be sent to your unit! Within the next week, you will receive five hundred Vanguard Fighters, three hundred and fifty Ground Battle Tanks, and an additional two thousand Supersonic Missiles with a range of over five hundred kilometers."
"Thank you for the Council's support!" Hope expressed gratitude upon learning that the requested reinforcements had been approved.
Hearing the words of thanks, the General's expression remained stern as he coldly warned, "You've been given the reinforcements you asked for. Your next task is to retake Victoria Spaceport. We must not allow the ZAFT Forces to gain a foothold on Earth. If you fail, you will face a court-martial!"
"Rest assured, General. The mission will be accomplished!" Hope saluted and pledged.
Despite this assurance, the General's expression remained unchanged, calm as a statue. Without further response, he ended the communication.
After the call, Hope left the room to discuss the next operation with the staff of the command department.
...
A week passed in the blink of an eye!
Inside Victoria Spaceport.
After two rounds of various supply replenishments, Victoria Spaceport had now established a relatively comprehensive air defense system.
The air combat unit had received an additional one hundred MS units and one hundred Mobile Suit Pilots during this period. The ground forces had also been supplemented with six Land Combat Specialized MS BuCUEs equipped with two Large-Caliber Electromagnetic Cannons each, along with over fifty Ground Battle Tanks.
At the ZAFT defense force command post in Victoria Spaceport.
"The situation at Victoria Spaceport is getting better and better. I feel the burden on my shoulders has lightened considerably," Andrew said leisurely, sipping coffee in his chair.
Doug turned to Andrew and reminded him with a smile, "The burden has indeed lightened, but we still can't let our guard down."
"Enough with this idle chatter, let's discuss something more important!"
Felix cut in, looking at the two men.
They turned their gaze to Felix, promptly setting their cups down on the table.
Felix began speaking at this moment.
"The Earth Alliance Forces have been relatively quiet for over a week now, aside from missile attacks. I have a feeling they're about to launch another operation soon, and this time it will be even more intense!"
"Report!"
A voice called out right after Felix finished speaking.
The three turned toward the door, where a soldier stood waiting for their permission to speak. Felix, one of the three, asked,
"What is it?"
"Captain Griffith, our frontline scouts have sent back new intelligence!"
The soldier stood at attention as he replied.
Felix uttered a single word.
"Speak!"
"The intelligence indicates that the Earth Alliance Forces are mobilizing and are likely to launch an attack against our forces within the next day or two."
The soldier reported loudly.
Felix acknowledged with a "Noted" and gestured for the soldier to leave. The soldier turned and walked out. After he had gone, the three exchanged grim looks.
After a brief silence, Doug spoke up.
"Captain Griffith, it seems you were right about this."
"Whether I was right or not isn't the point. What we need to do now is discuss the current situation." Felix replied briefly, then pointed at the electronic map in front of them and continued,
"The Earth Alliance Forces have deployed in five directions around Victoria Spaceport: east, southeast, west, south, and north.
Last time they launched an attack, it was from these same five directions simultaneously. This time, they will likely attack from these directions again.
So, what we need to do is prepare to engage the enemy on all five fronts."
As he spoke, Felix manipulated the electronic map accordingly. Based on the available troops, deployment details appeared on the map.
After finishing, he turned to the other two and asked,
"What do you think of this deployment?"
"Captain Griffith, I have a question."
Andrew spoke up as he observed Felix's deployment. Felix turned to him and nodded.
"Go ahead!"
"Your achievements and reputation are well-known among the Earth Alliance Forces. To stop or defeat you, they will likely concentrate their forces in one direction.
If the direction you're stationed in doesn't match where they focus their attack, it could lead to a series of problems, with the worst-case scenario being a collapse of our defensive line."
Pausing briefly at this point, Andrew took a deep breath and continued,
"So, I think besides enhancing reconnaissance on the front lines, it would be best if you don't immediately accompany the troops to the frontline. That way, you can respond flexibly as the situation develops."
"That's a very reasonable point. We'll do as you suggest!"
After considering Andrew's concerns and proposed solution, Felix agreed. He then turned to Doug and asked,
"Captain Doug, do you have any other thoughts?"
"No objections to the overall deployment!"
While shaking his head in response, Doug changed the subject and continued, "Regarding the interception distance, I think we can let them push further inward. We should intercept them between two to three hundred kilometers, temporarily separating the Earth Alliance Forces' air and ground units. This would reduce the pressure on us."
"That's not advisable!" Andrew immediately denied with a shake of his head, explaining, "The time difference between their units is too minimal. Within such a brief window, we won't be able to expand our advantage. On the contrary, allowing them to advance too close to Victoria Spaceport would significantly increase our defensive pressure. Therefore, to ensure the safety of Victoria Spaceport, I don't recommend letting them enter within three hundred kilometers of it."
