Three weeks into his new position, Ethan had learned several important things.
One: Sophie could identify gemstones blindfolded and took great pleasure in proving it.
Two: James had a borderline obsessive relationship with his 3D printer and named all his projects.
Three: The walk from the design floor to Gabriel's office was exactly forty-seven steps.
He'd counted.
Multiple times.
"Montgomery," Claire called from her desk. "Client feedback on the anniversary piece. They want the center stone larger."
Ethan looked up from his sketches. "How much larger?"
"Two carats minimum." She slid a folder across the table. "Rework the setting to accommodate. And check with Gabriel about structural integrity—we can't have a top-heavy design."
Ethan's fingers closed around the folder, pulse quickening slightly. "I'll go ask him now."
Sophie glanced up from her gemstone tray, eyes sparkling with amusement. "Will you?"
"It's work-related right," Ethan said, already standing.
