In the den of night a young girl with orange hair in torn ragid cloth sat in a cage her gaze filled with horror as tears swelled up in her eyes as she had her hand on her mouth trying to not make a sound to not get attention the scene around her was of a Camp of Orcs and Goblins a forest of trees surrounded them and on the branches were bodies of naked women hanging from the head or feet some dead and some barely clinging to life in the background a village with buildings made of wood and stone burnt down in the presence of the full moon the cries of women being assaulted by multiple goblins could be heard or orcs who were much bigger more violent playing around with what they considered there mates if they resisted they would rip them in two from the legs down as body parts flew in the air some orcs would fight over the women causing there deaths as collateral Amidst the fire that day what the young maiden saw she couldn't unsee a fate she thought would happen to her just as the thought crossed her mind a Goblin could be seen climbing the cage it's eyes both looking in different directions simultaneously as it licked its lips with its long tongue then the cage causing the young girl to release a shreek then blacking out
Morning came as Matilda wore her maid outfit and fixed the angle of her red bow headband after putting on her black shoes she then gave assignments to the maids for the day and then proceeded to head to Darians Room with a plate of food and calmly opened his door gradually approaching his bed and slowly sitting besides his sleeping head she gently nudged his shoulders and softly called his name Darian turned twice pulling on his bed sheets before waking up
He had been tossing and turning the entire night the intense stress had caused him to develop eyebags predicting this Matilda held her hand infront of his face as rays of green healing light came out rejuvenating his body he put one arm around his arm and let out a sigh today seemed inevitable Matilda helped him to stand up as he went about brushing his teeth and washing his face and eating the plate of food matilda had brought for him as if he was a man in mourning matilda clapped her hands as maids waiting in the hallway came in and presented today's clothes which were more ceremonial than casual it came with a long black robe with gold lining and a cassock this was meant for his initiation at the cathedral of light it was the main headquarters of the aletheian church
Matilda escorted Darian out his room into the hallway and down the stares today seemed hectic it was 7am and maids were already moving up and down as if on fire with Claus pointing out certain arrangements as he ran outside to oversee some more work waiting at the end of the stares as they talked to each other was none other than Sir Conrad and Doulos himself Conrad seemed to be amused as they watched Darian descending as Doulos gently clapped his hands and gave off a smile oh my young lord you look simply exquisite by why the black and gold instead of white Darian replied with Black properly displays the despair I feel today no need to be so melancholic today should be a day you remember fondly Conrad nodded in agreement come on then there's no time to waste we don't Wan to keep our guests waiting in the after party do we Conrad said
Matilda,Conrad, Darian and Doulos walked together in a tight pack as they went under the castle and into a special passage way both Doulos and Cobrad were on eigher side of Darian while Matilda led the pack she had the only lantern although Doulos never needed such a thing to see it was more convenience than necessity
Matilda gave Doulos the lantern as she used black heavy iron like keys to open the last wooden door when it opened and they entered Doulos snapped his fingers as fire sprung on each torch in the curved space like fish eye lense in the center was a drawn circle with many patterns some overlapping while others did not Doulos bent down as he examined if it was still functional Matilda looked at Doulos and said Master it seems to be functional Doulos released a grin and said seems to be case as expected for something drawn by myself
What is this Darian asked its a teleportation circle connecting to the cathedrals main teleportation circle in the capital it's only allowed to be used for religious purposes and to carry a small number of people anything other will be percieved as an attack on the Capital it functions on its own draining mana from the atmosphere itself but it's still requires a sliver of intention and magic power from a living soul to activate Conrad replied oh! Darian replied in wonder as his eyes lit up with excitement
Darian,Doulos and Conrad went on the circle as Matilda was left behind to protect the circle if a sudden attack were to happen or to keep it functional in case it was not as sturdy as it seemed Doulos looked at Matilda as he used his thumb to flick his fingers releasing a an arrogant smirk immediately a blue and white glow was released from the circle causing everyone to dématérialisé in its within its boundaries Matilda looked on as the glow subsided she let down her arm that was wrapped on her eyelids as she watched the only smoke rising from the circles center they had disappeared
Inside the cathedral of light in a Room located on top of one of it's towers Darian, Conrad and Doulos instantly materialized the circle they were on was much bigger than the previous one they had transported with it was surrounded by stained glass white windows with intricate patterns a rib vault cieling with cut limestone floors at the end of the room stood two old men in priest like uniforms of white and gold we've been expecting you the two men said the chair will meet you now
The chair was a term or simbol for the pastor or head preacher of the cathedral of light he was elected by 100 elders using prior accomplishments , recommendations and the agreement of the royal family he had to pass many tests including one of knowledge it was such an honor they were responsible for coordinating the church interms of building others setting heads and was the primary head of the council his vote having the most power his voice when combined with the councils agreement which its members he would help select alongside the elders and could recommend was law throughout the entire nation interms of the aletheian religion he was also incharge of it's funds to a certain extent regulated by the crown
The four descended down the spiral staircase alongside the elders until they reached a certain point than a man with similar robes to that of Darian appeared he wore a clergy cassock of white with gold lining and a gold sash he had a white cap on his head that only covered the top of his heads center that was white in colour and he held a book with a silver cover with all sorts of gears and a globe on with many rings that could spin on its own when activated but we're stacked on top if each other normally he had blonde hair dark brown eyes a beard and mustache and seemed to be in his late 50s and up
I'll take it from here he said this was the chair himself the priest bowed and went their way so you must be Darian he said and I see sir Conrad let me escort you as he did so Darian looked at the hypnotic Rose windows and the silver contructs of the cathedral
and stones finely cut with all sorts of patterns but a consistently that he noticed that there was always certain figures holding tablets surrounded by other people as If looking for knowledge or in some kind of servitude at the main hall of the cathedral from main entrance to the main alter were stained windows 6 on the right and 6 on the left each depicting a different man each in different clothing without their followers one had black armor with a drawn sword ready for battle the other a man with a hammer slamming it on a molten sword that sat atop anvil he seemed quite big and strong with gauntlets in both hands and round goggles on his eyes
Darian asked who are these guys The man replied they are the patriarchs apostles of the lord who took the human race out of Darkness after the great migration caused by the great kingdoms destruction by the dragons hands Doulos interrupted each of them were said to posses a magic Tablet that held power over aspects of reality and magic of the highest ranks Magic the chair replied no these were pure miracles reality bent to there whim as easily as breathing forgive me Sire Doulos replied it is reasonable to see why I find it hard how something of this caliber could exist as a believer you should not let the devil speak it's whispers in your ear what we think is unreasonable is reasonable to the devine the chair replied as he said that he pointed up and above was a picture of a man dressed in white linen robes with six silver wings with a face that resembled the sun an infinite sign on his forehead with a bright halo floating above his head his sandaled feat crushing the dragons head as a spear was logged in the dragons throat
The man then continued all except the picture on the top where created by contemporary information and eye witness account mixed with the artists inspirations he explained The true light was always eternal an objective reality gave Darkness its meaning and within formed all of creation in 6 days in the tenth formed the abyss man once lived in a state of peace they had a direct relationship with God none was capable of death and He gave them access to elemental power the only limitation was they could only use it to inrich their lives defend themselves and not harm others the concept of crude weapons was frowned upon as the power of the elements were clearly superior
At that time the four elements fire ,water,Air and Earth appeared in physical form and would Roam the Earth the prayers of man to the true God enticed them man figured out this weakness of pride and hubris so to get an upper hand on one another they tricked the elementals by worship into giving them more power using that to conquer one another because they could not die some suffered endless torment to be eternally burnt alive or buried alive when the great one saw the outcome of the free will given to them he judged there actions by introducing deaths concept into the world increasing the outrage of Nature and beast splitting the sects of mankind who disagreed with Each other into many different corners of the world where they would develop different languages and gradually creating devides of sea and land that would seperate them as they attempted to adapt to their new environments and warned the elementals forbid worship and interactions with human beings already knowing the decisions the elementals would decide next
The elementals enticed by worship praise was like a drug to them so they decided to make there own beings through direct creation or influenceing the evolution of other species already in existence which gave birth to the many different races wind created Elves , lesser wind spirits and flying creatures ,Earth created Trolls ,gnomes,Dwarfs ,Giants and lesser earth spirits as for fire we have the trickster imps ,djinn,the salamander, chimera , fire birds and other lesser fire elemental spirits Water is more unknown because our exploration of the seas are limited but mermaids and sea monsters seem to be it
What about the tablets Darian asked the Chair replied with optimism well they were lost to time said to be in the graves of the patriarchs only obtained by Going through all types of trials they are said to be sentient objects aswell and were given to them by our lord veritas himself after single handedly stopping the great cataclysm that would of ended all humanity any deeper Questions requires further theological studies
The four went deeper into underground as they walked the chair said we normally aren't required to wear this ceremonial garb we prefer to humble ourselves to relate to the people wearing anything that could be considered respectable or admirable in a place like the capital ofcourse the lowest a priest could wear is a nice suit with two colors at most with a sash to not give a whiplash of colours to the audience he smirked but on special occasions like this I heard sir Conrad would arrive I had to prepare
Deep beneath as they went deeper sounds of dripping water could be heard as they entered the room a pool could be seen that appeared as if a bath logged in the wall was a figures head it's arms wide open as if in a prayer motion six wings behind its back and a golden crown halo with curly hair made of pure gold with its eyes closed dripping with water simulating tears once you drip your face in that water and recite your devotion to truth justice love and law while holding your breath within it this will be where your true journey as a noble and worshipper of veritas will begin as the priest said this and Darian placed his face within the water all three remaining drew circles and vertical crosses on their chests while the priest hummed at a certain pitch
As Darian placed his head within the water he could feel so many things rushing at his head at once his veins tensing up this pool was filled with concentrated mana images Darian had no clue on flashed before his eyes buildings he thought impossible a scene of his his hands covered in blood then nothing but black
