Chapter 76 - Monster vs Seraphs 2/2

The root was sweeping away the wolves trying to get close to Anita. Charging again, the werewolf dodged the root with ease, getting closer and closer to Anita. Reaching her dome of roots, he started tearing it apart again with his claws and fangs.

The massive root moved to grab him; he jumped over the dome before continuing, this time above it. Anita controlled her root, trying to strike him, but the werewolf dodged by dropping down from the dome, pressing on.

Annoyed by the situation, she dismissed her dome. The werewolf, surprised, lunged at her. Pointing both hands at the ground, she made a multitude of small roots burst forth, grabbing the werewolf's feet, preventing him from moving before he was seized by the massive root.

yumiel saw the werewolf get grabbed… again, before the root tried to squeeze him like a lemon. The werewolf's muscles swelled, resisting the pressure, but unable to break free, he howled in rage.

« Seriously, is he a kid or what? »

Creating an enormous blade by combining her thirteen daggers and struggling to control it, she barely managed to cut the root, freeing the werewolf, who rushed back at Anita, who was busy defending herself against the many wolves around her.

Anita turned, seeing the werewolf charging at her.

« You again? »

Once close, the roots on the ground tried to grab him, but the werewolf wasn't stupid. Dropping to all fours, he sliced through every root in his path until he reached her, slashing her torso severely before trying to sink his canines into her flesh.

Stomping her foot, an immense root burst out of the ground right beneath the werewolf, launching him into the air. yumiel had just turned her enormous blade back into thirteen daggers, which she hurled at Anita.

« You're starting to piss me off. »

She began bleeding from the nose, and before yumiel's daggers could reach Anita, two other massive roots erupted from the ground, destroying all the daggers with ease. At this point, the wolves around were nothing but cannon fodder.

« Great, one root was already annoying, now there are three… »

Moving like serpents through the air, the three roots swept across what had become a battlefield. The werewolf fell not far from yumiel; she moved closer to speak to him.

« Look, listen, we're not going to make it like this, we need a plan, okay? »

He looked at her and replied in a slightly animal voice: « 住口 ! » then charged back into the fight as if nothing had happened.

yumiel watched him go with a stunned expression, then spoke to herself while pinching the bridge of her nose.

« Oh no, no no no, Jack you asshole, you didn't tell me he didn't speak English… »

Seeing the fight turning into a catastrophe and the wolves retreating in fear of the three gigantic roots, yumiel felt the urge to switch sides. Yet nothing was decided yet; Anita's fatigue was visible—yumiel could clearly see it.

She watched the werewolf running on all fours like a madman toward her, dodging with an agility… let's say bestial and unique, slowly closing the distance. For yumiel, he had no chance of reaching her, but it was enough to divert Anita's attention, allowing her to try something new.

She gathered her blood about 20 meters above Anita, then opened her senses to their maximum before transforming those 2.6 liters of blood into 10 ml needles—260 needles—hoping they might pierce through the roots and reach her.

During the process of turning all that blood into needles, she felt dizzy and nauseous. Holding on, she managed to transform the 2.6 liters into 260 needles of 10 ml. Still, she felt really unwell.

Her blood control depended above all on the quantity of liquid she could handle, but it was the first time she had tried to control so many small things with the same amount of liquid. She hoped it would be the last time.

The werewolf failed to reach her, blocked just a few meters away by the roots on the ground and the three gigantic roots, holding his position as if waiting for yumiel to do something.

« Maybe you're not that stupid after all. »

With both arms stretched toward her 260 needles, she unleashed them with brutal force like a deadly swarm of thorns, crashing down on Anita.

Anita noticed them only when they were less than ten meters away. She looked up, barely having two seconds to react, lifting her giant roots above her and recalling the roots from the ground, forming a dome to protect herself.

The needles pierced and tried to slip through the small gaps in the roots. Many stopped, but many passed through the three roots as well—half of the needles made it through, now trying to penetrate the dome.

A few needles pierced the dome, lodging into Anita's flesh and making her suffer, but she did not lose control. When it was over, she looked up, seeing the roof of her dome riddled with holes, before seeing the werewolf burst through, tearing the roof apart and entering the dome.

She released the dome and pulled her roots back as fast as possible, but it was too late. He slashed her left eye severely; she recoiled, accelerating her roots, giving him just enough time to sink his long canines into her right arm while slashing her torso almost fatally, before being seized by the roots and hurled into the air in fury.

Gravely injured, she landed on the ground, panting heavily, patching her wounds as best she could with plants she made grow. The werewolf hit the ground heavily, taking time to get back up, while yumiel was vomiting blood against a tree.

The wolves seized the opportunity and charged again, but Anita was still conscious, now bleeding from her eyes and ears, controlling her massive roots to push the wolves back.

Regaining her composure, yumiel absorbed the blood she had just vomited back into her body. She then reassembled her blood into thirteen daggers, about to throw them when suddenly she sensed vibrations from several directions. Lights suddenly burst forth from behind Anita.

Soldiers arrived with rifles, positioning themselves beside her and firing at the wolves before checking Anita's condition. The werewolf stood back up, his head still spinning, then understood the situation and charged at them.

In the distance, a wolf's howl rang out, and the werewolf stopped dead in his tracks, even stepping back and positioning himself beside yumiel.

The soldiers escorted Anita, pulling her out of the battlefield. yumiel wanted to intervene, but the werewolf put his hand in front of her, growling like a madman as he watched the scene. yumiel understood that he too hated seeing his prey escape, and she began to appreciate him for that mindset.

It was only after sensing waves in the distance and seeing an entire pack of wolves arrive, led by a smaller wolf about the size of an average dog, with two immense wolves at its sides—easily five times the size of a normal wolf—one of which carried Jùnyǔ, that she completely stopped understanding what was going on.

Seeing them arrive, all the soldiers, including Anita, evacuated quickly—more than quickly. In less than thirty seconds, they were gone, disappearing into the forest.

She turned her head toward the werewolf, then looked at the enormous pack of wolves, then at the retreating soldiers. In response to what she saw, she exhaled, deactivated her senses, and let herself fall to the ground.
