Chapter 53 - Flying Cat

Brothers, the parody of Tomb of the Gods is coming to an end, and the real excitement is about to begin. There are probably three or four more chapters to go before Tomb of the Gods takes you into a whole new world.

Cultivators from all over the Tianyuan Continent have been searching for the lost treasures of the ancient gods near the City of Sin for over a month, but have yet to find anything. Some have begun to waver, and soon some began to leave one after another. Within a few days, the number of cultivators remaining here has dwindled to less than half of what it once was.

A strange thing has happened at Kamikaze Academy recently: dozens of kitchens within the academy have been burglarized one after another. What's missing from the kitchens isn't gold or silver, but various kinds of meat such as chicken, duck, pork, and beef.

At first, the kitchen manager didn't pay much attention, thinking that a few chefs were skimming off the top to secretly supplement their family income. The manager turned a blind eye and didn't investigate further.

But every night thereafter a kitchen was burglarized. The managers gradually realized that something was amiss. It was definitely not the work of the suspected chefs. There must be something more to it.

Surprisingly, the thief disappeared without a trace. For several days, the cooked meat in the kitchen continued to be sold without fail, but no trace of the thief was found.

The story spread like wildfire throughout the academy, with all sorts of rumors circulating. Amidst the gossip, the little princess suspiciously glanced at Xiaoyu, who was lying in her arms.

These past few days, Xiaoyu's mouth has been constantly oily, and she seems to have gained a lot of weight, almost turning into a round little ball.

Finally, the little princess's suspicion turned to surprise. She stared at Xiaoyu, who resembled a tiny porcelain cat in her arms, and said in astonishment, "Xiaoyu, that thief wasn't you, was he?"

Xiaoyu lazily opened her eyes, her expression seemingly a little shy. She first looked around, then nodded her little tiger head.

"Oh my god, Xiaoyu, you..." the little princess exclaimed, then giggled and said, "This is so much fun, Xiaoyu, you're so funny, you've actually become a thief, hehe."

The words Chen Nan said to Xiao Yu near the Demon Palace a few days ago truly made this gluttonous fellow realize that he would steal chickens and dogs every night.

It refused to eat raw meat anymore, and its palate became increasingly picky. Every night, it would sneak into the kitchen and devour everything. It progressed from eating pork, beef, and mutton to high-end foods like bear paws, practically becoming a gourmet, much to the frustration of the kitchen manager.

The perpetrator looked embarrassed, but his owner not only didn't reprimand him, but instead showed excitement. This surprised Xiaoyu, and she immediately felt happy. It seemed that she wouldn't have to sneak out at night anymore, and could go out to "eat" "with a clear conscience".

No secret lasts forever. One night, Xiaoyu was finally discovered, but when it calmly spread its little wings and flew away, its pursuers were speechless with astonishment. After a long while, one of them finally exclaimed, "My God, a flying cat!"

Not everyone in the academy was unaware of the "Flying Divine Cat's" origins. At least, when Dongfang Fenghuang heard about the burglary in the kitchen, she immediately set her sights on Xiaoyu. She had witnessed Xiaoyu's transformation before and knew of its magical properties.

This made Xiaoyu feel guilty, and she buried the little tiger's head tightly in the little princess's arms.

When no one was around, Dongfang Fenghuang said to the little princess, "Little troublemaker, is that the so-called 'Flying Divine Cat' in your arms?"

"Oh, is that it? I don't think so. It's with me every day and has never left me."

Dongfang Fenghuang stared intently at Xiaoyu and said, "This fellow has been acting suspiciously at night these past few days, and it's noticeably gotten much fatter. I know its peculiarities; who else could it be?"

The little princess's eyes darted around, and she said with a grin, "Sister Phoenix, you absolutely have to keep this a secret! Little Jade only sneaks a little bit of food each day; it won't bankrupt the academy, will it?"

"You, as the owner, not only don't reprimand it, but you also indulge and protect it. That's outrageous!"

The little princess was very shrewd and knew Dongfang Fenghuang's temperament well after spending many days with her. Seeing her like this, she knew that Dongfang Fenghuang would not investigate further.

"Hehe, I knew Sister Phoenix had the kindest heart. Seeing how pitiful Xiaoyu is, you definitely wouldn't reveal the secret."

"It spends all its time 'eating and drinking at the lake,' living such a carefree life, and you still say it's pitiful?"

"Yes, it used to be so thin because it couldn't get enough to eat, and it's only recently gained a little weight. If you tell on it, Xiaoyu will go hungry again. Don't you think it's pitiful?"

Xiaoyu cooperated very well, lifting up the little tiger's head and showing a pitiful look.

Dongfang Fenghuang rolled her eyes at the little princess, her face full of "there's no reasoning with you" expression. Then she glared at Xiaoyu and said, "You're so fat you're practically a ball, and you're still pretending to be pitiful. Tone it down these next few days and don't be so arrogant."

Xiaoyu nodded vigorously, flashing a fawning "tiger-like smile."

Dongfang Fenghuang was already used to this guy being able to express human emotions.

The little princess stepped forward and took her arm, saying, "Sister Phoenix, you're so kind! Let's go watch the magic competition together."

Three months later, the top students from the four academies will clash at the Divine Wind Academy, a grand showdown between the strongest students from these prestigious academies.

All four academies are making preparations, and the Divine Wind Academy is no exception.

Shenfeng Academy will select sixteen representatives to participate in the grand contest of the strong three months later. Apart from the eight top experts who are pre-selected, the other eight representatives will be selected through martial arts competitions in various academies.

The magic, cultivation, Eastern martial arts, and Western martial arts systems are currently engaged in a fierce elimination tournament, with exciting matches every day for the past few days.

When the little princess passed by the Western martial arts arena, she suddenly recognized a familiar face – Guan Hao, who had "escorted" her and Chen Nan from the Chu Kingdom to the City of Sin.

She was no stranger to this "protector" who was asking for an exorbitant price. She had once given him the nickname "Rat" and had also been severely punished by Xiaoyu.

At this moment, Guan Hao was engrossed in conversation, talking to someone, completely unaware that the little princess had already come up behind him.

"I absolutely did not lie to you. I really know what that 'Flying Cat' is all about. It is actually a tiger. Well, not exactly a tiger, but a demonic tiger, or rather a tiger king, in short, a strange tiger."

"Come on, mouse, stop bragging. It's clearly a cat with wings, how did you turn it into a tiger king?" someone nearby chimed in at the opportune moment.

Guan Hao's name contains the character "Hao," and as a result, the students who cultivated with him gave him the nickname "Mouse," just like little princesses.

"I'm telling the truth, it really was a tiger king. I even taught it a lesson and almost skinned it to make shoe insoles, but then I saw how pitiful it was and released it."

The students standing next to Guan Hao clearly didn't believe him.

Just as Guan Hao was about to continue speaking, he suddenly felt someone gently patting his shoulder. He turned around and saw the little princess, who looked like a fairy, standing behind him with a mischievous smile on her beautiful face.

The tiger king, who was like a little porcelain cat in her arms, was staring at him fiercely. This terrifying beast king, who had left him with an unforgettable experience, seemed very dissatisfied with his "nonsense" just now, and his tiger eyes were filled with a chilling aura.

Guan Hao said in a trembling voice, "Brother Tiger, I didn't say anything. Oh, I promise I will never say anything out of line again."

The tiger king bared its teeth at him, which frightened him so much that he screamed, "Ah, a tiger!" and then turned and ran away.

His previous tragic experience had left a shadow in his heart, so he was filled with fear whenever he saw the Tiger King and the little princess. The people around him were dumbfounded. Guan Hao was actually talking nonsense to an adorable kitten, and then he was so frightened that he turned around and ran away. It was simply unbelievable.

But Guan Hao hadn't run more than a few steps when Xiao Yu suddenly jumped onto his shoulder and then onto his head, her four little tiger paws gripping his hair tightly.

"Ah, Tiger King... Help!"

Guan Hao was so frightened that he sat down on the ground and screamed. It's easy to imagine how deep the terror that Tiger King had left on him that day.

This startled Xiaoyu greatly. She hadn't expected this big guy to be so loud, and she quickly returned to the little princess's arms.

People nearby burst into laughter. A tall, burly man was so frightened by a kitten that he cried out "Tiger King!" which was quite amusing.

Guan Hao got up from the ground, glanced at the tiger king in the little princess's arms, and ran away, disappearing from the crowd in the blink of an eye.

The little princess feigned ignorance and asked the person next to her, "What happened to that big guy? Why did he suddenly yell 'Tiger King' at my kitten and look so scared?"

Those around them were already captivated by the little princess's beauty, and upon hearing this, someone immediately slandered, "That guy has a problem; his nickname is 'Rat,' and he can't stand the sight of a cat."

"Oh," the little princess said, suppressing a laugh as she turned and left.

The boys nearby, seeing the young princess about to leave, were about to chase after her to strike up a conversation, but suddenly spotted Dongfang Fenghuang not far away and immediately stopped in their tracks. They had heard rumors about this beautiful magician recently having an affair with a notorious scoundrel, and knowing she was not someone to mess with, they dared not approach her.

While the students from the four departments of the academy were holding elimination rounds, the vice dean was considering the upcoming warm-up matches. After much deliberation, he finalized the list of participants for the Immortal Martial Academy competition.

At that moment, a student knocked on the door and came in, saying, "Dean, we've found that guy. He's moved to another inn."

"Oh, as long as he hasn't fled the city of sin, that's fine. You can go out now."

After the student left, the vice dean muttered to himself, "You always change inns. If it weren't for my extensive connections, I really wouldn't have been able to find you." The person the vice dean was referring to was, of course, Chen Nan.

After leaving Ruth's place today, Chen Nan immediately changed inns. He could guess how angry Ruth would be when she woke up. This time, she had lost everything and gained nothing.

Chen Nan recalled the events of last night, feeling a sense of unreality. He had actually ended up using the most primitive method to remove the Spring Breeze Dew. Thinking of Ruth's sexy, alluring body last night, he still felt his cheeks burning.

"Phew~" He let out a long breath and lay on the bed, muttering to himself, "Hmm, I need to be more careful of her in the future. Although Western women are more open-minded, she won't let this go easily since she got nothing this time."

Then he thought of Ren Jian, "That guy will need at least a month or two to recover. All the people he tried to recruit have had their cultivation crippled by me, which must be a significant blow to him! Hopefully, after what happened last night, he'll restrain himself and keep to himself..."

While Chen Nan was lost in thought, Ruth was frantically casting spells to vent her anger. A fierce wind raged in her courtyard, accompanied by lightning and thunder, frightening the nearby residents so much that they dared not go out.

Ruth really wanted to bite Chen Nan a few times. She had already sent people to search for Chen Nan's whereabouts, but several hours had passed without any results, which infuriated her.

"Damn it, don't let me find you..."

The two mages beside her didn't dare approach until she gradually calmed down. One of them asked, "Ruth, what's wrong? Why are you so distraught?"

"It's nothing, I'm just in a bad mood. Hmm, we can't let that scoundrel get away with this. He actually tricked us, using a fake handprint to get away with it. We have to teach him a lesson."

"Forget it. Given that guy's personality, he won't join any organization. Although he can't be used by us, he won't become our enemy either. There's no need for us to provoke him."

Ruth gradually calmed her anger. Although she wanted nothing more than to crush Chen Nan to the ground, considering the dynamics between the various factions, she had to set aside her personal grudges and handle the matter calmly. While it wasn't the right time for her to confront Chen Nan, she secretly made a mental note of this.
