Chapter 51 - An Eye for an Eye

Since the restrictions on her body were lifted, the little princess has become even more lively than before, thriving at the Divine Wind Academy. In her sixteen years of life, she feels that this is the happiest time she has ever had.

She used to live in the capital of the Chu Kingdom. Due to her noble status, everyone her age treated her with utmost respect. Apart from her older sister, Chu Yue, almost no one dared to play with her. Even the noble children were trembling with fear when they saw her. Of course, a major reason for this was that the little princess was too unruly, causing everyone a lot of headaches.

Lately, she's been causing trouble and creating chaos. At first, she only teased the boys who were very attentive to her, but eventually she couldn't resist turning her attention to the girls.

Clothes drying in the girls' dormitory are often marked with a small black handprint. When the girls who are collecting the clothes find out, they are embarrassed, angry and upset, while the little princess who successfully played the prank is hiding not far away and laughing.

Dongfang Fenghuang was in the same room with her and quickly noticed her abnormality. The little princess was now light and agile, and once she jumped directly from the second floor when she went downstairs.

Dongfang Fenghuang was terrified. In her memory, the little princess was a frail and willful girl. If she were to "fall" like that, she would be seriously injured if not killed. She tried to help, but it was too late. But to her surprise, the little princess landed lightly on the ground, not only unharmed, but also making a funny face at her.

From that day on, Dongfang Fenghuang realized that the little princess actually possessed remarkable martial arts skills. Recalling all the lies the little princess had told in the past, Dongfang Fenghuang was furious and immediately pinched her little face.

The little princess accidentally gave herself away and hurriedly explained to Dongfang Fenghuang with a grin. Of course, it was another lie, but this time Dongfang Fenghuang simply refused to believe her.

Out of desperation, and considering that Dongfang Fenghuang had treated her very well and was her long-term meal ticket, the little princess finally revealed the truth: she had been afflicted by the Binding God Finger before, and the restriction had only recently been lifted by Chen Nan.

The little princess was as light as a swallow, leaping across rooftops and causing mischief everywhere. Dongfang Fenghuang quickly guessed that the "black handprint incident" on the girl's clothes was her doing, and at that moment her face turned ashen with anger, and she almost lost her temper.

Because one of her bras, which she had left hanging outside, had recently been defiled by that elusive and annoying guy. At first, she was furious and considered all sorts of possibilities, even thinking of Chen Nan, but she never expected that the "thief" was right next to her.

When Dongfang Fenghuang angrily questioned the little princess, the little devil stuck out his tongue in fright and repeatedly claimed that it was an "accidental killing." In the end, under Dongfang Fenghuang's restraint, the little princess was forced to restrain herself, finally restoring peace to the girls' dormitory area.

In recent days, the little princess had thought more than once about returning to the capital of Chu with Xiaoyu, but the thought of the palace, which felt like a cage to her, made her give up those ideas.

The more freely she played with her peers, the more the little princess felt that her past monotonous and boring life was like being in prison. Finally, she decided to write to the King and Queen of Chu to tell them that she was safe and sound, and in the letter she proposed that she would stay in the City of Sin to study at the Divine Wind Academy.

The State of Chu had an office in the special and important city of Freedom. When the young princess approached the official in charge there with the jade pendant bestowed upon her by the Emperor of Chu, the official was so frightened that he immediately knelt down. Then, he released the carrier pigeon containing the princess's letter into the sky as quickly as possible.

Although she already knew that the old matriarch in the palace had gone down with her and that the little princess would be safe, Empress Chu was not truly at ease until she received a letter confirming the princess's safety.

In the days that followed, the Chu royal palace received a letter from the little princess almost every day, giving them a detailed account of what had happened in recent days.

Of course, the main purpose of the little princess writing a letter every day was to persuade the Chu Emperor and Queen to allow her to continue staying in the City of Sin.

These past few days, Queen Chu has been in a great mood. As she read the letter, she laughed and scolded, "This little girl is getting wilder and wilder. She actually asked to stay there and wants to continue her mischief outside."

Emperor Chu Han of Chu pondered for a long time before finally writing a letter to the little princess. He then called Chu Yue to his side and said, "Yue'er, inform the people we sent to the City of Freedom to protect Yu'er's safety. As for that Chen Nan, although he committed a heinous act, the Ancestor previously instructed us not to touch him."

Chu Yue said, "Father, rest assured, I know what to do."

Upon receiving the letter from the Emperor of Chu, the little princess immediately cheered, "Great! He really allows me to stay here. At least my efforts in writing letters every day haven't been in vain." However, when she saw the contents of the letter, she became unhappy again: "He didn't even punish that scoundrel, and he continues to acknowledge him as a remarkable man of Chu... Even if it's just to suppress the news that happened in the capital that day, there's no need to go to such lengths." Little did she know that this was something the old monster had already arranged.

"Yu'er, please don't cause any big trouble!" When the little princess saw the last sentence in the letter, she laughed, then pouted and said, "Do I really love causing trouble? Humph!"

Dongfang Fenghuang walked into the house just in time to hear her words, and said, "Little troublemaker, don't you think you're really good at causing trouble?"

The little princess feigned ignorance and said, "Really? I don't think so."

The next day, Chen Nan arrived at the Mercenary Guild as promised. A young man of similar age approached him and said, "Hello, Brother Chen. My master is unable to come today, so he asked me to give this to you." He handed Chen Nan a paper bag.

Chen Nan knew that the young man in front of him must be the disciple of the old mercenary surnamed Li, so he politely said, "Thank you for your trouble."

The young man smiled, turned around, and left.

Chen Nan returned to the inn, took out the investigation materials from the paper bag, and examined them carefully.

The above details Renjian's recent activities.

According to the rules of Kamikaze Academy, every student should live on campus, but Renjian almost never set foot in the dormitory. He secretly bought a courtyard outside the academy and lived there at night with five followers.

Since entering Shenfeng Academy, Renjian has visited many masters within the academy and gotten to know quite a few people. Currently, he has become close to nearly ten students.

Furthermore, two men and one woman followed his lead. These three lived with him in the courtyard outside the Divine Wind Academy, coming and going with him, and had become his personal bodyguards.

After placing the documents on the table, Chen Nan gave a cold laugh: "Hmph, it really was you."

Through their brief encounter in the western border of Chu, Chen Nan discovered that Ren Jian possessed the potential of a powerful figure; he was undoubtedly an ambitious man who would never submit to anyone. His decision to come here to cultivate instead of vying for power in his own country was clearly abnormal, and something unexpected was bound to happen.

"Could this guy be facing discrimination back home and is here to lay low and avoid trouble? If so, you shouldn't have come to provoke me. I promised Little Devil I'd teach you a lesson, and it seems that even if it's not for Little Devil's sake, I'll have to teach you a lesson for myself."

After reviewing the information, Chen Nan couldn't help but admire the old mercenary's extraordinary abilities, having ascertained Ren Jian's background in such a short time. It seemed this old man's identity was truly extraordinary, and he must hold a prominent position among mercenaries.

In the darkness of the night, a figure leaped swiftly over the courtyard wall of the inn and disappeared into the street like a gust of wind.

The night traveler was Chen Nan. He walked through the streets and quickly found Ren Jian's residence based on the information given to him by the old mercenary.

The courtyard that Renjian bought is located on the outskirts of the city, right next to the city moat. Compared to the bustling city center, it can be described as a quiet place.

It was already midnight, but there was still a faint light coming from the courtyard. After arriving here, Chen Nan carefully and cautiously crept in. When he reached the gate, he stretched out his right hand and grabbed the top of the wall, hanging in mid-air. He peered over the wall and carefully observed the movements inside.

The courtyard was large, and at this moment only one room in the main building had a faint light on; the other rooms were completely dark. Chen Nan observed for a while, and only after confirming that there were no problems did he lightly leap into the courtyard.

He arrived at the brightly lit room like a ghost. Strange noises came from inside, and the scene inside was all visible to Chen Nan.

Inside the room, two naked bodies were intertwined, trembling wildly in the flickering candlelight. The man's heavy breathing and the woman's soft moans blended into a symphony of passion.

Finally, the woman tilted her head back and let out a mournful cry like a swan, then wrapped herself around the man like an octopus. The man let out a low growl and lay motionless on top of the woman.

Chen Nan had already seen clearly that the man in the room was none other than Ren Jian, the third prince of Baiyue Kingdom. He hadn't expected to see such a sensual scene. The two people in the room were actually having a passionate lovemaking session under the lamplight. Fortunately, it had already ended.

After a long while, the woman's charming voice finally came from inside the room: "Your Highness, sleep well. Good news will surely come tomorrow. That scoundrel will surely die."

The naked woman inside had a charming face, and her voice was exactly the same as the female mage who had tried to assassinate Chen Nan that day, except that her voice was cold back then, but now it was sickeningly sweet. Through the open window, one could clearly see that the female mage's left shoulder was wrapped in white gauze, the wound Chen Nan had left her two days ago.

The female mage was not only a highly skilled fighter recruited by Renjian, but she also had such an intimate relationship with him, no wonder she was so loyal to him.

The candlelight flickered in the room, plunging it into darkness.

Chen Nan gritted his teeth and sneered inwardly. If he didn't strike first today, he would definitely be assassinated again tomorrow, and it would be much more dangerous than last time.

He stood motionless in the courtyard until he heard even breathing coming from inside the house, then he moved his feet slightly. The two people inside had just finished their lovemaking and fallen asleep, a moment when their vigilance was at its lowest—a golden opportunity for assassination.

Chen Nan hesitated for a moment, and after a struggle with his conscience, he gave up this excellent opportunity for assassination. Assassinating a prince of a nation would surely cause a huge uproar and bring him endless trouble. Ren Jian had launched a series of operations against him in the past few days, and if he were to be assassinated now, the Baiyue Kingdom would definitely find clues and trace them back to him.

He couldn't kill Ren Jian himself; to eliminate Ren Jian, he had to rely on someone else, given Ren Jian's unusual status. Death could be spared temporarily, but Chen Nan had no intention of letting him go tonight; he was determined to teach him a lesson he would never forget.

Before that, he needed to subdue the others in the courtyard. The courtyard was large, with more than twenty rooms. Chen Nan couldn't be sure which room the other two people who assassinated him lived in, but he could sense which room was occupied.

Through his keen intuition, he could determine that seven houses were inhabited. Ren Jian had five followers; excluding them, the other two were very likely the two who had tried to assassinate him the day before yesterday.

Chen Nan floated lightly to the door of a room, circulated his profound internal energy, and concealed his aura, seemingly blending into the night. This was the wonder of his family's profound internal energy; by deliberately concealing it, he could evade the detection of even the most powerful experts.

He pushed the door open silently, revealing a burly body lying on the large wooden bed, emitting soft snores. Chen Nan moved to the bedside as if by magic, quickly pressing several pressure points on the man's body to seal them.

Upon realizing that this was an Eastern martial artist, Chen Nan pressed his right hand onto the man's dantian without hesitation, dispersing the true qi within his body and crippling his martial arts cultivation. Then, he silently left the room.

In the second room, Chen Nan recognized the person on the bed in the darkness. His build was extremely similar to that of the masked man with a gun who had attacked him the day before yesterday.

Chen Nan frowned slightly. As far as he knew, the circulation of battle qi within the body of those who cultivated Western battle qi was completely different from that of true qi in the East, and there was no such thing as meridians. If he wanted to destroy their cultivation, he couldn't simply break through the Qi Sea acupoint.

After a moment's thought, Chen Nan channeled all his inner strength into the body of the person lying on the bed. His powerful true energy shattered the stagnant battle qi within the man's body. Finally, Chen Nan skillfully used his internal force to strike him a dozen times, completely dispersing the battle qi within him.

Leaving that room, Chen Nan headed towards the third room. That night, he was undoubtedly a demon...

In the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, Chen Nan knocked Ren Jian's five followers and the two men who attacked him the day before down from the realm of experts to the mortal realm, destroying their martial arts cultivation and turning them into ordinary people.

He sighed inwardly: Don't blame me. If I hadn't acted, you would have come to kill me sooner or later. By turning you into ordinary people, I've already shown mercy.

Under the pitch-black night, Chen Nan, a cold smile playing on his lips, silently pushed open Ren Jian's door. The room was filled with the peculiar scent of past pleasures. In the darkness, two snow-white bodies were intertwined on the bed, their breathing soft and even.

Chen Nan moved gently to the bedside, but just then he suddenly heard the sound of night travelers leaping through the air. He looked out the window and saw four figures jumping in from outside the courtyard wall one after another.

The four men muttered under their breath, "Damn it, that scoundrel is really lucky; he wasn't even home."

"That guy is really quick-witted; he didn't even sleep at the inn last night."

Chen Nan shuddered. He suddenly remembered what the female mage had said after he had been entangled with Ren Jian: "Your Highness, sleep well. Good news will surely come tomorrow. That scoundrel is doomed."

It turned out to refer to the assassination attempt against him tonight; he had thought Renjian would send someone to kill him tomorrow.

Just then, Ren Jian's body suddenly trembled. Chen Nan hurriedly raised his palm and struck him, a streak of light flashing through the air.

Ren Jian's years of unremitting cultivation were evident at this moment. Although he was still in a daze, he keenly sensed a hint of danger and instinctively pulled the windowpane beside him to his chest.

Chen Nan's right palm struck the female mage's right back solidly. Although he didn't aim to kill her, he was certain that this palm strike had broken seven or eight of her ribs.

The female mage awoke in pain but fainted again before she could even cry out, spraying blood from her mouth all over Renjian's face.

The unusual movement inside the house alerted the four people in the courtyard, one of whom said, "I think I heard a gust of wind from a palm strike."

At this moment, Ren Jian shouted loudly, "Someone come here..."

The four people in the courtyard were terrified and rushed toward the house.

However, at this moment, Chen Nan's palms were already imprinted on Ren Jian's shoulders.

With two sharp cracks, Ren Jian's arms fell limply to his sides, both broken. The instant the four men rushed into the courtyard, Chen Nan slammed his palms down again, and with another cracking sound, Ren Jian broke ten ribs.

The female mage's blood blurred Ren Jian's vision, and in the darkness, he could not see the attacker's face clearly. The excruciating pain almost made him faint.

Amidst four angry shouts, Chen Nan raised his hands, and dazzling sword energy pierced through the roof. He soared into the sky and rushed out of the room.

Of the four people in the house, one stayed behind to look after Renjian, while the other three rushed out.

Chen Nan tore off his wide sleeve and covered his face. At that moment, the three men had already scrambled onto the roof. One of them said, "Who are you? How dare you attempt an assassination here! Are you some kind of scoundrel?"

Chen Nan didn't answer, but threw a punch at him. The intense light illuminated the night sky, and a beam of light shot straight towards the man.

"Take him down, no matter who he is, just leave him barely alive," someone nearby shouted.

The three men, each wielding a sword, charged towards Chen Nan. The rooftop shone brightly as the four men clashed in battle.

Chen Nan was secretly alarmed. Among these three was a second-level Eastern martial artist. Although he could not yet unleash the invincible sword energy, the faint light flowing on his longsword and his strange movement made Chen Nan dare not underestimate him.

The other two had also reached the first tier. They practiced Western martial arts, and their battle qi attacked Chen Nan in layers. With a second-tier expert present, these three were clearly stronger than the three from the day before yesterday, but Chen Nan was not as disheveled as he had been the day before.

The main reason was that he was fighting at his peak today, unlike the day before when he was physically weak. Another reason was that all three of them were martial artists, and they were all fighting him on the ground, unlike the day before when he also had to pay attention to the magician in the air, which distracted him.

Sword energy crisscrossed, and battle aura soared to the sky. Just as the three were fiercely fighting and unable to determine a winner, a burst of battle aura shot straight up from the courtyard. The person who stayed behind to watch over Renjian rushed onto the roof at this moment.

Chen Nan immediately felt a surge of pressure as the four masters surrounded him, making it extremely difficult for him.

The moment Chen Nan noticed the four people, he wanted to cripple their cultivation as well, but it seemed he simply didn't have the ability. A second-tier expert and three first-tier experts firmly trapped him in the center, and the pressure on him grew, gradually overwhelming him.

Suddenly, he stomped down hard with both feet, and his body sank downwards. The four men who were attacking him shouted that something was wrong, thinking that he was going to enter the house again and harm Renjian. The four men quickly smashed through the roof and fell downwards.

However, Chen Nan's body only sank halfway down. Just as he was about to fall, he grabbed a wooden rafter with both hands and flew back into the air.

The four people who entered the house realized they had been tricked and quickly scrambled onto the roof. As they came up, they saw Chen Nan fly out of the courtyard, and the four hurriedly gave chase.

Chen Nan came to the street intending to leave, but suddenly sensed someone in the shadows not far away, blocking his way. He had to slow down, and just then, the four people caught up again.

The four surrounded him on the street and attacked him fiercely. Their fighting spirit raged, and a large patch of light enveloped Chen Nan in the center.

Suddenly, a series of gleaming wind blades attacked the four people surrounding Chen Nan from the side. The attack was too sudden; the four were caught off guard. Although they managed to dodge most of the magical attacks at the last moment, several wind blades still struck each of them.

Blood splattered, and the four staggered backward.

Three people emerged from the shadows, all dressed in black with black veils covering their heads. One of them was graceful and alluring, with a captivating figure; she was clearly a woman.

The woman shouted at Chen Nan in a hoarse voice, "Hurry up and kill him!"

Chen Nan no longer hesitated. These three people seemed to have no ill intentions towards him and appeared to be there to help him. He attacked the four people again.

At the same time, three mages emerged from the shadows and floated into the air, launching a fierce magical attack on the four.

Startled by this turn of events, the four had to deal with Chen Nan's fierce attacks while simultaneously dodging the intense magic from the sky.

Lightning, flames, ice spears, and wind blades struck; the other four were covered in blood and soon began to sway precariously.

Chen Nan seized the opportunity and rushed towards the Eastern martial artist who had reached the second level. A golden sword aura shot out from his fingertip, and the dazzling sharpness pierced through his shoulder in an instant.

The other three tried to come to their rescue, but were held back by three mages in the air, forcing them to stop and fight against the magic.

Chen Nan moved with the speed of a phantom, unleashing wave after wave of sword energy. Under the attack of his eighth sword energy, the longsword in the man's hand shattered completely.

This second-tier expert had already been injured by the magical attack, and then his left shoulder was pierced by Chen Nan's blazing sword energy. Blood was gushing out, and he was now extremely weak and could no longer hold on.

Chen Nan arrived before him like lightning, striking his Qihai acupoint with a palm, completely shattering his true energy.

The second-tier expert let out a roar of unwilling anger, and then collapsed to the ground.

The other three were terrified, but with the help of the three mages, Chen Nan crippled them all, leaving them unconscious on the street.
