Adventurers were the largest, most widely spread professional group on the entire continent.
Priests devoted to gods, mages, warriors who cultivated battle qi—any of them could register at an Adventurers' Association and officially obtain an Adventurer's Certificate.
"Sir, this is the Adventurers' Association," Rabi introduced as he led the way. "It's the largest organization on the continent. Every kingdom has an Association in its royal capital; smaller cities only have branches."
In front of them stood a massive building, the entrance wide and bustling with adventurers coming and going. The lively atmosphere hit Roan the moment he stepped inside.
His eyes lit up. "Let's go in."
The moment Roan and his knights crossed the threshold, countless gazes shifted toward them. It wasn't difficult to guess from their attire that this was a noble leading a group of knights. Usually, nobles only sent servants to issue commissions—rarely did they appear in person.
Naturally, everyone wondered what a young noble lord was doing here.
Roan ignored the gazes and looked around at the spacious hall. More than a dozen counters stood in neat rows, each attended by a young staff member handling commission requests. On the large wall nearby, various tasks of different ranks were posted, with adventurers stopping to evaluate whether they could accept them.
Roan suddenly paused. "What are they doing over there?"
Rabi followed his gaze. A burly adventurer was stuffing a backpack through a window before stepping aside to wait.
"That's material appraisal," Rabi explained. "Herbs collected from commissions, monster parts, even relics or ancient artifacts—they all go through that window."
Roan nodded thoughtfully. A bold idea flashed across his mind.
If I take something with attributes I created… what would the appraisal show?
He suppressed the impulse for now.
They continued walking through the Association, and Roan gradually gained a deeper understanding of adventurers.
In simple terms:
They do everything.
As long as the commission and payment were clear enough, there would always be adventurers hungry for money willing to take the job. Herb gathering, escort missions, clearing out monsters—everything fell under their scope.
Of course, not everyone could accept every type of commission. The Association assessed an adventurer's strength before issuing tasks.
After finding an empty table to sit at, Roan gestured for Veronica to order food. Rabi continued explaining while she placed a plate in front of him.
"After registering, adventurers receive an Adventurer's Certificate. Your adventurer rank only affects the level of commission you can accept. Thank you, miss."
He thanked Veronica before continuing calmly,
"There are six ranks for Adventurer Certificates: A through F. Newly registered adventurers start at F-rank. Completing ten tasks of the same rank qualifies one for promotion to the next rank."
Roan quickly grasped the system and asked, "So if an F-rank adventurer accepts an A-rank commission, can they skip ranks by completing it?"
Rabi shook his head vigorously.
"That's impossible. The Association evaluates the strength of adventurers before issuing them a commission. They won't send people to their deaths."
He added, "Ordinary people can become adventurers too. Generally, those who reach E-rank have stepped into First-Tier Transcendence. Some ordinary people with wilderness experience can complete special tasks, but E-rank is usually their limit. D-rank adventurers are usually Second-Tier Transcendents. C-rank adventurers are Third-Tier, and so on."
Roan frowned slightly. "So to become D-rank, an E-rank adventurer must break through to Second-Tier?"
Rabi shook his head again. "Not necessarily. Many adventurers form teams. When they accept a commission as a party, the Association evaluates the overall strength of the team, not just the individual."
Ah. So the rules aren't rigid after all.
Roan glanced at Sig and the others and asked with a smile, "So, which rank are you all? F-rank? E-rank?"
Except for Thomas, everyone shook their heads—they weren't registered adventurers.
Thomas scratched his head. "All in the past now. I was only an E-rank adventurer."
Roan recalled Thomas's old injury. Most likely it came from that period.
"But Captain Abel is D-rank."
Roan nodded, surprised but not shocked. Abel's strength had always been noteworthy.
Adventuring, huh…
Roan's mind drifted to childhood memories.
Slaying dragons, rescuing princesses—every child dreamed of that once. Roan couldn't help feeling a tremor of excitement.
Then he smiled. "Why don't we all go register as adventurers?"
The knights stiffened.
Thomas went pale. "No, My Lord! You still have to govern the territory!"
The others panicked even more, tripping over themselves to dissuade him. Rabi stared in disbelief—it was the first time he'd ever heard a noble say such words.
Roan waved them off, annoyed. "I'm just registering for a certificate. I'm not abandoning the territory. Relax."
Only then did everyone breathe again, looking as if they had just survived a calamity.
"Alright, let's go register."
Roan walked to a nearby counter. The staff member was a girl around eighteen or nineteen, smiling politely.
"What's the process for adventurer registration?" Roan asked.
"It's very simple, sir," the girl replied professionally. "You just need to fill out a form, undergo a basic strength assessment, and pay ten silver coins. Then you can become an F-rank adventurer."
Ten silver coins?!
Roan's heart clenched.
Just registering costs that much? The Association is really raking in money…
But he still nodded.
The girl handed over the form. Roan picked up the pen, ready to write—but paused.
Then, with complete composure, he wrote:
Nicholas Zhao Si.
After filling in his age and other details, he handed it back. The staff girl skimmed it, then smiled sweetly.
"Mr. Nicholas Zhao Si, the next step is your strength assessment."
She took out a stone tablet embedded with irregular crystals—clearly a magic tool.
Sig and the knights exchanged confused glances.
Nicholas Zhao Si? Who??
"Sir, please place your hand on the stone tablet."
Roan saw the magical fluctuations rippling from it and pressed his hand down. A tingling sensation spread through his palm.
A transparent interface appeared before him.
[Magic Tool (Green)]

[Attribute 1: Sensing (White)]
[Attribute 2: Duplication (White)]
A green-quality magic tool.
The first attribute was straightforward—measuring strength. Roan was still examining Attribute 2 when a thin, card-shaped piece split off from the stone tablet with a click.
His personal information instantly appeared on it.
The girl smiled brightly.
"Mr. Nicholas Zhao Si, this is your Adventurer's Certificate. Please pay ten silver coins to complete your registration."
Roan took the card, examining the clearly printed words—
