Chapter 72 - The Hokage’s Household Management Incident

"Even with a Mangekyō, you're still a child. Spend more time reading."

Uchiha Soren flicked Hikari's forehead lightly.

He had seen enough Mangekyō users in his clan to know one truth:

Every single one of them was at least a little unhinged.

Including himself.

The last thing he needed was for Uchiha Hikari — freshly awakened from the Warring States era — to develop the wrong kind of habits.

"If reading bores you, make some friends. I have five disciples.

Tomorrow, you'll go teach their class at the Advanced Division for me."

Hikari brightened — then visibly panicked.

"But… I don't know how to teach."

"If your mouth doesn't work, use your fists.

Let them feel your sincerity."

Hikari paused, recalling how older clan members had "taught" her back in the Warring States.

After a moment of solemn thought, she nodded seriously.

Dinner came and went.

After bath time, Soren returned to his room and activated the fresh brilliance of his Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

His perception bloomed to a five-thousand-meter radius through Tenchō Risshon, revealing half of central Konoha—

And one very particular sight:

Uzumaki Minako, in a steamy bath, cheeks flushed, gently rubbing a Flying Thunder God kunai between her fingers.

(Quick worker…)

Leaving a shadow clone behind, he vanished from his room.

When Minako murmured his name, he materialized behind her in the mist-filled bathhouse—

And a multi-billion-ryō import-export negotiation commenced immediately.

"Tomorrow at this time… again. I'll be waiting, An-san."

"You'll be on the road to the Land of Whirlpools tomorrow," he chuckled.

"Next time will be in the wild, Minako."

"You have Flying Thunder God~

You're just saying that to tease me…"

She leaned against him, voice like silk.

"And… you must win, An-san."

"With my strength? Don't worry."

"Hmph~"

Back Home — Another Ambush

Sensing his clone's signal, Soren slipped back home, washed quickly, threw on a loose robe—

And returned to find two radiant girls waiting in his room:

Uchiha Jiruri

and

Kagura.

Jiruri smirked.

"An-kun, I've set a barrier around Hikari's room.

She won't hear a thing tonight."

She shot him a sultry glance and added:

"And look — Kagura's already impatient~"

"I am not!"

"Then I'm going first."

"Ehh?! Jiruri-sister is bullying me again!"

"Darling~ come here already…"

The moment Kagura's shimmering eyes lifted toward him, Soren shut the door with one decisive kick.

The rest of the night

required

no elaboration.

Morning — A Crisis of Innocence

Dawn broke.

Uchiha Hikari awoke, clutching her oversized cat plushie.

She tied her hair into a high ponytail — just like Soren — dressed neatly, and admired herself in the mirror.

A bright, flawless Uchiha girl.

But as she descended the stairs, she paused.

"…Strange. Kagura-sister and Jiruri-sister are usually awake by now."

She glanced toward the three closed bedroom doors on the second floor.

A reflexive chakra scan—

Her eyes widened.

Her cheeks exploded red.

Her Sharingan spun involuntarily.

She bolted into the bathroom to splash water on her face.

Then into the kitchen.

Where she attempted to make breakfast.

Attempted.

The smell of burning eggs eventually snapped her out of her spiraling mental images.

(Brother… and the sisters… all in one room…)

By the time she sat in the living room with her plate, she felt warm, safe, loved—

And inexplicably tight-chested.

Tears pricked her eyes.

A large hand dropped onto her head.

"You troublesome little sister."

Hikari didn't turn.

"I'm not troublesome. I'm very obedient."

"Yes, yes. Hikari is the most obedient."

He ruffled her hair again.

"Wait here. I'll be right back.

And stop overthinking."

"…I wasn't overthinking."

As soon as he left, she grabbed a tissue and wiped her face quickly.

Then—

"UWAA—!!"

Soren popped his face around the corner like a startled tanuki.

Hikari nearly jumped out of her skin.

Soren burst into hearty laughter.

"So you can make cute expressions, huh?"

"BROTHER!!"

She puffed her cheeks and leapt at him like a furious kitten.

At that exact moment, Jiruri descended the stairs.

She stopped.

Stared.

Then marched over, slapped Soren's hand away, and scooped Hikari into her arms.

Soren shrugged and walked off to wash up.

Hikari buried her face into Jiruri's chest.

"Jiruri-sister…"

"If he bullies you again, tell me or Kagura.

Next time, we'll make him eat over-salted meals."

"Pfft—"

Hikari giggled—then sniffed.

"Jiruri-sister… you smell weird today."

Jiruri froze.

Then bolted toward the bathroom, face red as a tomato.

"It's all your fault!" she snapped at Soren as they passed each other in the hall.

Soren stood there blinking, confused.

Arrival at the Advanced Division

After breakfast, he waved Hikari over.

The two walked together toward the Advanced Division Classroom 1.

Inside, five children sat neatly at their desks.

A small boy with pale skin and snake-like eyes lifted his head.

Orochimaru.

"Good morning, Teacher Soren."

All five children — already as strong as mid-genin due to the hard training from Soren's clones — sat up straighter.

Today, they would meet their substitute teacher.

And she possessed the Mangekyō.
