Chapter 183 - Light Nostrade's Request For Audience

They did not mind if Luke, as a new official, wanted to make a strong impression.

But if he was someone who understood advance and retreat, leaving them some room for negotiation, then that made them feel reassured and relieved of much of the pressure.

This also meant that Luke understood the rules of their political world.

Unlike other professional hunters, who were all stubborn and reckless to the end.

Dealing with someone like Luke was far more comfortable.

Communicating with someone equally clever would always reduce unnecessary trouble.

This was what all of them thought.

They believed Luke was the same type as them, a calculating veteran of politics.

But in reality… Luke simply found it pointless to argue with a bunch of dead people.

Once he concluded that this was a wrongful conviction, and the court staff had deliberately framed the homeless man from Meteor City, in Luke's eyes, they were already corpses.

And arguing with the dead was meaningless.

However, his actions triggered even more speculation and associations from others, an unexpected bonus.

Luke, however, couldn't be bothered with these people's wild thoughts.

Day after day, instead of thinking about their own citizens or doing their jobs properly, they only sat around making baseless guesses, pathetic tricks unworthy of their status… How could one build a better world with insects like these?

Some of them were worse than the underworld mafia.

At least the latter were more straightforward, direct, and blunt, with fewer twists and turns.

And coincidentally, Luke's next task had to do with the underworld.

After entrusting this matter to Mizaistom Nana, Luke boarded a flight to Ambrossa.

He was heading there to meet the new recruits from the mafia families…

Now, the capital of the country of Sebrona, Ambrossa, had already become a renowned mafia sanctuary.

Not only because in the past two years, the city had become a true international trading hub, constantly exporting all sorts of computers and electronic devices, but also because, for the underworld, this place housed what could be considered the most powerful force in the mafia world.

Over these past two years, the current public controller of Ambrossa, Pablo Escobar, who had successfully risen to become one of the Mafia Dons, had fought a brutal battle against the other Mafia Dons before.

And the result was that the Shadow Beasts under the other Mafia Dons were nearly annihilated.

Their normal subordinate didn't even need to be mentioned.

When faced with the ferocious, death-seeking criminals from Meteor City, they stood no chance.

One could say that Pablo Escobar single-handedly fought against the other Mafia Dons.

And most importantly, he won!!

Against the ordinary mafias, Pablo Escobar had countless desperados from Meteor City to fight for him.

Against the Shadow Beasts, Pablo Escobar had the strength of Chrollo, Feitan, and the other Phantom Troupe members.

This was the equivalent of a dragon pressing its face into theirs, no, pressing down on their heads, how could he possibly lose?!!

You could say that Pablo Escobar took advantage of the overwhelming upper hand and mercilessly beat the defeated.

He beat the other Mafia Dons until they cried.

If V5 hadn't stepped in in time, using anti-crime eradication as the slogan to begin a massive purge, then the unrestrained Pablo Escobar would really have continued and wiped out all the other Mafia Dons.

Although he regretted not being able to accomplish that because V5 stepped in and tipped the balance, his reputation had already been fully established, and he became famous in the underworld with that single battle.

Those mafia families, with their short-sighted view, could not see the higher-level political chessboard that V5 played.

In their shallow understanding, all they saw was Pablo Escobar unleashing his might, with the other Mafia Dons unable to compete.

If not for bad luck and V5 abruptly acting crazy, then the entire underworld would have had only him as its sole ruler.

Thus, even though the conflicts among the Mafia Dons had calmed down, the mafia families all desperately wanted to cling to Pablo Escobar, who already showed the bearing of an overlord.

In their eyes, Pablo Escobar, still young, energetic, and full of drive, had already become one of the Mafia Dons.

Which meant that sooner or later, he would absolutely become the true ruler of the entire underworld!!

Countless mafia families looked favorably upon his future and chose to board this great ship as early and as quickly as possible.

But among those many mafia families eager to join… There was one individual who behaved differently…

"He wants to meet me?"

In the luxurious room at the top of the United Trade Tower, Luke sat in the boss's chair while asking with interest.

Beside him stood Pablo Escobar, the man the underworld believed to be the future overlord, standing respectfully at Luke's side.

"That's right. The head of the Nostrade family, Light Nostrade, made this request."

Pablo Escobar slightly bowed as he reported the familiar name to Luke.

"I can guarantee that no information about you has leaked from our side."

Pablo Escobar pledged with confidence and loyalty: "But the other side, from some unknown source, obtained knowledge of your existence."

"I believe that based on this fact alone, it is necessary to report this to you, boss..."

"You've done very well."

Luke praised him in satisfaction.

Being able to maintain such alertness and awareness, without being blinded by fame or others' flattery, and most importantly, without showing any shift in attitude or scheming, for now, Luke saw no signs that Pablo Escobar had developed any little ambitions.

Pablo Escobar respectfully answered, but inwardly he wiped cold sweat.

You have become the Vice-Chairman of the Hunter Association, how could I dare have any thoughts?!!

Pablo Escobar kept ranting in his heart.

He had seen the announcement from the Hunter Association; even as someone who wasn't a professional hunter, he followed world affairs closely.

Although he didn't know what kind of power professional hunters possessed, being able to rise to the position of Vice-Chairman of the colossal organization that was the Hunter Association, second only to the chairman, a true one beneath one, above all, if Luke had risen to such a position, then the scheming, methods, and abilities he possessed must be beyond imagination.

Therefore, even if he originally had some small ambitions deep inside, upon seeing such an announcement, he instantly abandoned them all, sweeping them clean…
