Chapter 178 - Vice-Chairman's Privilege

"I see, so he's out on official business for this matter?"

After scanning it, Beans's expression immediately relaxed, and he let out a sigh of relief.

It was good, it was just official business, not that Luke had run off without a word.

At least now, his exact whereabouts could be known; he wasn't slacking off.

And not just the whereabouts, even the paperwork for going out...

"This is just too thorough?!!"

Beans examined it carefully, and the more he looked, the more astonished he felt.

His expression shifted toward shock.

Initially, he had been relieved that people at Luke's level knew to leave proof and proper paperwork when going out.

He had been thinking that if Luke's paperwork and proof were not done well, he would fill in the gaps himself.

After all, every time Chairman Netero went out, Beans handled and supplemented everything.

Now, it was the same; he was used to it.

But what Beans did not expect was that Luke's paperwork was so complete.

Even many parts that, by Beans's standards, could have been simplified or omitted were fully included.

No one cared anyway, and even if there were minor omissions, they wouldn't matter much.

Even Chairman Netero's paperwork was handled just for the essential parts; the rest was minimized.

Otherwise, with Chairman Netero's restless style, if everything had to be perfect, Beans would be exhausted.

But Luke's document could be described as flawless.

Even by Beans's eyes, there was nothing to criticize.

"This is just too comprehensive..."

Beans sighed, then muttered softly: "But this is correct."

Yes, he understood Luke's situation very well.

Pariston, having lost the Vice-Chairman position, was monitoring Luke closely.

This kind of thoroughness, leaving no loose ends and nothing for others to pick at, had Beans's full support.

"I originally thought there might be a period of adjustment with Vice-Chairman Luke, and that he might find the work difficult to handle..."

"But now it seems..."

Beans put away the document: "The adjustment period isn't necessary."

"And this work, should, no, will definitely be handled well!!"

Beans gave one last glance around the room, then strode out with determination.

There was no wind in the room, and the windows were all tightly locked.

So how did this document float from the desk and land in front of him?

Beans didn't think about it further.

He knew Vice-Chairman Luke had his arrangements.

That was enough.

Meanwhile, just after Beans left, Luke, already aboard the Hunter Association airship, received a message from the House Robot.

It relayed Beans's emotional shift and response when he arrived, as well as how the document was delivered.

Luke read it and gave a positive evaluation: "Looks like Beans is a wise man..."

Indeed, those who didn't understand things wouldn't even qualify to get close to Chairman Netero, let alone become his secretary.

For many years, this silent understanding between Beans and Chairman Netero was sufficient.

With the House Robot's existence helping cover things, Luke would have complete control inside the Hunter Association headquarters.

"So, have you understood the entire process of this case?"

Mizaistom Nana, standing beside Luke, asked seriously.

This time, it was a matter of acting immediately rather than waiting.

Mizaistom Nana waited for Luke's decision and immediately followed once he decided to depart.

"I've understood the overall process."

Luke briefed Mizaistom, which matched closely what Mizaistom had learned.

The judges and presiding officers in that country's court had already determined that the criminal was a homeless man from Meteor City.

And according to local law, the homeless man was to be executed.

Of course, the homeless man protested, claiming innocence.

But the judges ignored him, forcing the case through and making it an ironclad decision.

"This case has far too many unreasonable elements."

Mizaistom Nana said gravely.

"Not to mention whether there is enough evidence to convict this homeless man..."

"Even if guilty, he should not be sentenced in such a forceful manner."

"Even stepping back, even if he is truly guilty, he has no identification."

"According to international law, sentencing such a person requires reporting."

"But clearly, the international court had not received such a report."

"Perhaps the country just assumed it was fine, or thought it unnecessary."

"Regardless, since they first violated regulations, that gives us a reason to intervene..."

Mizaistom Nana pulled a document from his chest: "Although I am the legal counsel of a private security company, the company I am affiliated with also has international capabilities."

"I obtained the title of international legal advisor from them, which gives me a reason to intervene in such a case..."

Before Mizaistom finished speaking, Luke casually tossed him a credential.

"Use this; it carries more weight than that advisor title."

"More weight?"

Mizaistom instinctively looked and then...

"Special Investigator of the International Court?"

Mizaistom's eyes widened in surprise as he looked at Luke: "How did you get this?!"

Such an investigator has powers akin to an imperial commissioner, with full authority to review cases.

This power and operational involvement far exceeded Mizaistom's legal advisor title.

And its prestige was far greater.

Mizaistom knew this, of course.

But he also knew the difficulty of obtaining such a credential.

Positions with such authority were basically only available to the V5.

Not something ordinary professional hunters could get.

"You're thinking too small."

Luke said casually while gazing at the distant scenery: "Anyone at Vice-Chairman level or above can apply and obtain it."

Mizaistom: "...?"

"Why haven't I heard of it before?"

"Because it's in the fine print at the bottom left of article 238 of the hunter regulations."

Luke read it from the message the House Robot had sent.

"Too busy not reading the regulations, and now you don't know?"

Mizaistom: A top lawyer who knows the laws of every country was now being scolded for not reading the regulations?!!

Mizaistom had a constipated expression.

Who normally cares about Hunter Association Chairman and Vice-Chairman regulations?! With Chairman Netero around, aren't these regulations just for show?!

Of course, not entirely.

At least from what Mizaistom knew, Pariston had ambitions for the Vice-Chairman position.

And he surely studied it regularly.

But unfortunately, that position was taken by Luke.

The fact that Chairman Netero could make Mizaistom Nana have almost a might as well give up mindset... It's imaginable how he normally acts as Chairman of the Hunter Association.
