Its authority looked great, as if all directives and policies issued by the association depended on its approval.
But the review committee had only one person in charge, Chairman Netero, and he held the final interpretation rights.
In other words, everything still followed Chairman Netero's opinion.
So the presence of all these people today was Chairman Netero's intention.
And since so many of the association's most outstanding professional hunters had gathered here and they now awaited Chairman Netero's upcoming arrangements...
Chairman Netero gathering so many people here was naturally not for some simple, small matter.
After Luke arrived and had a brief exchange with Pariston… Chairman Netero also stepped forward to preside over the situation and clarify his role: "As everyone knows, rumors outside are boiling over that I am searching for twelve outstanding professional hunters to help me manage the Hunter Association."
"Mainly because I'm getting on in years. I no longer have that much time or energy to deal with these increasingly complicated affairs."
Chairman Netero spoke with a completely serious face.
These words made Beans at the entrance look as though he wanted to say something, but held back; his expression was extremely complicated.
The affairs were indeed complicated, yes, but Chairman Netero, you're clearly acting the same as always, not troubled by this at all.
Still the same as ever: I bring you documents, you barely look at them, and just sign your name with large strokes.
And as for your energy and time... Why do I feel like you have even more of it than before?!!
Beans subconsciously glanced at Chairman Netero's beard, which had been burned off at the chin.
Clearly, he was very much enjoying himself right now.
So the ones suffering were still them, the staff working under him.
He figured that these upper-level leaders were more or less to satisfy Chairman Netero's personal enjoyment.
Still, if they could help share some of the workload inside the association, for Beans, that was also a good thing.
At least from now on, he would have a group of people who could make decisions, instead of suffering alone. Letting these twelve people experience the days of being on edge while following Chairman Netero around.
Thinking this way, Beans instead felt somewhat relieved and pleased.
Anyway, he personally fully supported the establishment of these twelve officials.
And critically, the leadership group being established this time would include not only the twelve...
His gaze also fell upon Luke.
In his eyes appears a rare mixture of relief and worry.
Relief, naturally, because Luke's miraculous inventions produced many peculiar effects.
This would also help the Hunter Association resolve many troubles and handle many thorny issues.
Just like how he resolved the Kute Gang of Thieves issue previously.
With Luke around, the association's pressure would be greatly reduced.
Especially if Luke really could take that position, for Beans, that would be an even better thing.
To be honest, compared to discussing matters with Pariston, a man full of schemes, Beans much preferred Luke.
At the very least, Luke wouldn't say ambiguous things, and he wouldn't show smiles that made him uncomfortable.
For someone as practical as Beans, he really liked working with people like Luke.
And coincidentally, Chairman Netero also liked Luke very much.
And that was what worried Beans.
"Chairman Netero really likes Mr. Luke's inventions..."
It couldn't even be called liking anymore; it was basically an obsession.
The most typical example was the robot that Luke left for Chairman Netero before.
Chairman Netero's neglect of association affairs during that period… and the current state of his beard, burnt off after being assassinated, all of that said enough.
Based on his understanding of the situation, there was a single word that fit perfectly: Addicted to playthings and losing ambition.
Although he felt it was somewhat inappropriate to use such a word for an elderly person like Chairman Netero.
After all, he was already over a hundred years old.
At that age, what more could you expect of him?!
But… he was the chairman of the Hunter Association!
Since he was in that position, it was unavoidable that he needed to do things befitting that position.
If Luke became his deputy, in terms of ability, there would be absolutely no problem.
Solving the issues of the association would be effortless.
But at the same time, if someone like Luke also ended up joining Chairman Netero in crazy play… Beans felt his own heart wouldn't survive it.
Especially after seeing that satisfied glint in Chairman Netero's eyes, he couldn't help but subconsciously clutch his chest.
It looked like Chairman Netero really had such thoughts.
As his secretary for decades, he knew him far too well…
"Ahem, next, I will read out the Hunter Association review committee's important notes."
"This meeting has two resolutions."
"The first is regarding the establishment of the upper-level leadership."
"This point has already been formally approved by the review committee, confirming the official establishment of the Zodiac Twelve."
"The Zodiac Twelve will formally participate in multiple areas of association work, jointly assisting the chairman in handling affairs. The chairman's responsibilities and authority will be divided among the Zodiac Twelve. Among which, the most representative one..."
Chairman Netero paused, then continued: "... Is that aside from the chairman himself, all members of the Zodiac Twelve have the rights and obligations to participate in the review committee's discussions and decisions."
After this was announced, everyone present raised their eyebrows.
The establishment of the Zodiac Twelve and sharing the chairman's responsibilities, they had expected this outcome.
This decision wasn't beyond their predictions.
But the part about the review committee was truly beyond expectation.
That involved the core power of the Hunter Association.
Once they were allowed to participate in review committee operations, they would gain real authority within the association, including but not limited to setting association rules, the requirements for hunter star rank promotions, the arrangements for the hunter exam…
As well as another extremely important point…
"The appointment of internal association positions..."
Pariston's smile didn't change, but his gaze toward Luke deepened considerably.
"All right, next, I will, ugh, forget it. Beans, you announce the Zodiacs' positions and codenames."
Chairman Netero originally wanted to stroke his beard, but when he subconsciously raised his hand, he realized again that it was gone.
Then he waved his hand dispiritedly at Beans.
