Chapter 16 - 16. Awakening - 3 - Son of the Sun

dark

*blurrryy...

"Urghhh…"

Will slowly opened his eyes, but his vision remained blurry for several seconds. His head felt heavy, and his body felt strangely numb, as if it no longer belonged to him.

He remembered feeling unbearable pain during his awakening, pain so intense that his thoughts had scattered before everything went black. The last thing he recalled was losing consciousness, and now he had no idea how much time had passed.

*sweep..*

He instinctively moved his hand downward to push himself up from the ground, but the moment his palm touched the floor, it slipped.

His balance failed immediately, and his body tilted forward, making his chin slam against the ground. A sharp pain shot up his jaw as he groaned and rolled slightly to the side.

His vision finally began to clear as he rubbed his eyes in irritation, muttering that this was annoying.

As the blurriness faded, the first thing he noticed was the color surrounding him. Red. Everywhere. His pupils shrank as his surroundings came into focus, and he realized he was sitting in a pool of blood.

The wooden floor beneath him was soaked, his clothes were completely stained red, and blood splatters covered the walls and nearby furniture.

The room looked like the aftermath of a violent massacre, and the metallic smell of blood hung thick in the air.

Will swallowed lightly before speaking. "System, what the hell happened here?"

The reply came instantly.

[your awakening]

"What?" Will frowned, glancing down at himself again and then around the room. "But all this blood…?"

[it's yours. I advise using it as paint since the walls look dull. Or you could add it to your ice creams and launch a new red blood velvet edition specially for vampires.]

Will stared blankly for a moment before letting out a tired sigh. Since the system was joking, it meant nothing had gone wrong.

This was simply the blood released during awakening, something he had read about before.

Relieved, he pushed himself up more carefully this time, ignoring the uncomfortable stickiness on his skin, and decided to clean the mess before doing anything else.

He went into the bathroom, fetched water and cleaning tools, and spent the next few hours scrubbing the blood from the floor and walls.

After that, he took a long, hot bath, washing away the dried blood and lingering exhaustion clinging to his body.

By the time he finished, the sky outside had begun to brighten faintly, signaling the approach of morning. He changed into fresh clothes, stored the ruined ones in his inventory, and finally settled onto the couch with a deep breath.

Only then did he allow himself to focus on what mattered most. "Alright," he said quietly. "Let's see what I awakened. Status."

A familiar chime echoed.

Will stared at the panel for several seconds, his mind struggling to process what he was seeing. His mouth slowly opened as disbelief took over.

"What the f*ck is this?" He instinctively looked up.

"System, did you gift me a talent, physique, and affinity?"

[no]

"Then how do you explain this?"

[there is nothing to explain. you awakened by yourself. This is your result, not mine. I charge SP for everything unless you use your monthly free voucher.]

Hearing that, Will fell silent. These were not normal awakenings. A Supreme-ranked talent, a Divine physique, and an SSS affinity were not something an ordinary human should possess.

He immediately understood that this had to be related to his bloodline. However, there had been no mention of anything related to sun affinity or a sun-god physique in the novel.

"A divine physique not mentioned in the novel shouldn't exist," Will muttered.

"That means either my roots are way too mysterious… or they simply didn't exist while the story was ongoing."

[yes and a possible explanation is that your parents were killed and your bloodline erased. you are the sole survivor.

weird though, never thought a brat like you would be impressive without me.]

Will nodded subconsciously, ignoring the insult completely. His expression turned calm and focused.

"My goal hasn't changed," he said.

"If my parents are alive, I will eventually meet them. If they're dead, then there's nothing I can do." His eyes hardened slightly as he continued.

"My enemy remains the same. The source of the apocalypse and the demons."

With that settled, he shifted his attention back to the panel. "Let's see what I actually have."

He focused on his talent first.

---------

Lawless Adaptation (Supreme)

A talent that should not exist in this universe. Granted only to those whose origins lie beyond its laws.

Absolute Adaptation: The host instantly adapts to any physical, spiritual, or environmental strain.

Fate Immunity:

-The host is not bound by the universe's laws of destiny. Predetermined outcomes cannot anchor him.

-The host's secrets cannot be revealed by any ability, divination, prophecy, spiritual sense, or truth-reading unless he willingly allows it.

Lawless Awakening:

-Whenever the host interferes with or significantly alters the destined flow of events, there is a chance to awaken a new talent.

-The scale depends on the magnitude of fate disrupted. There is also a small chance to evolve existing talents.

Limitless: The host has no fixed growth limits.

Universal Tongue: The host understands all languages.

-------------

Will leaned back slightly, eyes wide. The talent did not directly boost his strength, but its value was absurd. It was as if it had been tailor-made for him.

He remembered how Ethan had awakened a legendary-ranked talent, something considered once-in-a-millennium luck. Compared to that, this felt outright unreasonable.

"With this," he muttered, "reaching a level where I can contend with planetary beings doesn't sound impossible anymore." Though he was still painfully far from that point.

Next, he focused on his affinity and physique.

------------------

Divine Sun-God Physique

A divine physique born from the core of a living star. It represents absolute solar authority and can only be borne by the Sun God and those carrying his true divine bloodline.

Sun Affinity: Grants Sun Affinity (SSS).

Stellar Flame Sovereignty: Grants complete dominion over stellar flames capable of burning matter, energy, souls, and concepts such as darkness, corruption, and undead.

Fire Absolute Immunity: The host is immune to all forms of fire and heat, including divine flames, hellfire, karmic fire, and conceptual burning.

Bane of All Cold: Cold-aligned energies are naturally suppressed in the host's presence, and cold-based beings suffer continuous degradation.

Solar Regeneration: Under sunlight, physical injuries, soul damage, and divine wounds are rapidly restored. The host can resurrect from a drop of blood.

Infinite Solar Replenishment: Sunlight instantly restores mana, stamina, vitality, and energy.

Solar Authority Pressure: When active, weaker beings instinctively submit, while dark, undead, or corrupted entities are burned by proximity.

Will stared at the information in silence before breaking into a grin.

[host… do you even need me? ( T﹏T )]
