Chapter 4 - Chapter 3: Hunting

Luo Zheng opened the door of his hut and entered. The hut was normal, just a bed in it and a jar of water. Luo Zheng drank some water and sat cross-legged to think what to do next.

Luo Zheng thought, "My only goal is cultivating and becoming stronger, but I have to stay away from women so that I can avoid trouble. In most stories, the main protagonist falls into so many troubles because of girls. If I want to increase my cultivation peacefully, then this will be the best method. Now I have a better cultivation method. But the problem is the poison in my body. I need 3 more Body Tempering Pills to break through to the Body Tempering 7th stage, and after that, I can gather spiritual energy and increase my cultivation without pills."

"According to original Luo Zheng's memory, I need 100 spirit stones to buy one pill. But the problem is earning this amount of spirit stones is too hard as a mortal."

"What should I do now? Work hard as a mortal to earn this amount of spirit stones? Or is there another way to solve this?"

He thought non-stop for the day and finally remembered something. He thought, "Wait, I have poison in my body. If I could prove this to my clan, it will be easy to get back there. But for this, I need some attention from the higher-ups. But I am just a mortal; how will I even get it?"

It's almost impossible. He thought for a moment to show them the inheritance, but instantly rejected this idea because if anyone knows about this, he will take it and kill him to keep it a secret.

He knows that the cultivation world isn't an easy place to survive. Here, human life has no value. This place isn't like Earth. The stronger can kill the weaker if the weaker don't have any strong background.

Luo Zheng isn't from this world, but he is completely aware of human true nature. He doesn't want to be killed in the starting of cultivation, especially not because of a wrong decision.

Luo Zheng thought, "It seems there is no way to get out of here. Or maybe I am short of knowledge. First, I need to explore this place to know deeply about this world."

His gaze shifted to the outside of the hut, and he found that it's already night. He just went to the nearby market, bought some food, and came back home. His remaining spirit stones are 22.

Next day

Just like original Luo Zheng, he decided to hunt beasts in the mountain. But as he is just a reincarnated person from Earth, he doesn't have any experience in it. In Earth, he wasn't a hunter. But he has original Luo Zheng's memories, so he knows about how to hunt. And his body is trained for hunting because of the countless hunting trips of original Luo Zheng.

As he decided, he got out for hunting with a wooden spear made by original Luo Zheng.

Luo Zheng thought, "I have memories of hunting but lack experience. Luckily, this mountain doesn't have any furious beasts. Or else, with my combat ability, I can't even kill them."

He was walking in the forest thinking about this, but his eyes were fully focused on finding rabbits or other creatures that can be eaten and are not poisonous.

Luo Zheng moved slowly between the trees. The forest was quiet, with only some insects making noise. He held the wooden spear tightly. His palm was a bit sweaty.

He whispered in his heart,

"Calm down… original Luo Zheng hunted here so many times. My body should remember the movement."

He bent down and touched the soil. There were some light footprints.

"Rabbit?" he guessed.

He followed the tracks carefully. With every step, he checked the ground and the bushes. He didn't want to step on dry branches and scare everything away. The air smelled like wet leaves. The wind was soft.

After walking for some time, he finally saw a small shadow moving near a rock. It was a rabbit eating grass. Luo Zheng exhaled lightly.

"Good… if I can catch this one, at least I won't go hungry today."

He lowered his body. Just like the original memories told him—stay quiet, steady your breathing, wait for the right moment.

The rabbit's ears twitched.

Luo Zheng didn't think anymore. He stepped forward and threw the spear with all his strength.

Sha!

The wooden spear hit the ground beside the rabbit. The rabbit jumped in fear and tried to run away. Luo Zheng's face turned dark.

"Tch… too nervous. My aim was off."

But he didn't give up. He rushed forward and grabbed the spear again. The rabbit wasn't that fast because its leg slightly slipped on the wet grass.

Luo Zheng chased it for a short distance and finally thrust the spear again. This time, he hit the rabbit's side. The animal struggled for a moment before falling still.

He stood there, breathing hard.

"Finally… caught it. Hunting is way more tiring than I thought."

He picked up the rabbit and wiped some sweat from his forehead. His arms were sore, but his heart felt relaxed.

"If original Luo Zheng's memories weren't in my head, I would be starving right now."

He looked around the forest again.

"One rabbit is not enough. I need to train my hunting skill properly. This is the only way to earn spirit stones for now."

He walked deeper into the trees, more carefully than before. Every leaf movement, every tiny sound entered his ears. His senses slowly adapted.

After about half an hour, he found another small beast, a wild chicken picking seeds from the ground. This time, he controlled his breath better. He aimed for a while and threw the spear in a smoother motion.

Thud.

The spear landed directly on the chicken's neck. It collapsed instantly.

Luo Zheng blinked.

"Oh… that was clean. Seems like my body is learning."

He picked up the second kill and tied it to his waist with a vine.

"Good. If I can get one more, I don't need to worry about food for days."
