Artemis:
They were sat by the fire together, the stag they had killed earlier slowly roasting over it.
She hummed contently as she studied the stars above them, her mind picking apart the constellations she and the other gods had created throughout their lifetimes. All while absently running her hand through her son's hair.
It was a warm summer night, which was always her favorite. Especially nights like these when the weather was perfect and the only sounds were those of nature and a campfire slowly crackling under the silver light of the moon.
Well, normally those would be the only sounds. Tonight they were joined by the scratches of paper furiously being written on and the muttering of a pissed-off 12-year-old.
"Fucking bullshit runes and bullshit matrixes. I swear if one more rifle blows up in my goddamn face..."
A smile formed on the goddesses' face and she did her best to suppress the giggles that threatened to escape. Her son never failed to amuse her. Especially his sense of humor and the ways he would complain about problems.
Though it did often worry her at how mature his mind could be at times. She didn't quite understand at the beginning as he was her first child, but after consulting with her fellow goddesses, they had determined that Arthur wasn't exactly normal.
Even by Demigod standards.
Hestia had expressed her concern at how the boy took training. Apparently, it was not normal for a child to have his chest caved in or be thrown through an ice shelf repeatedly, only to then make a wisecrack as they slowly healed from extremely lethal injuries.
Artemis was informed that the normal reaction, besides death, should've been crying along with possible severe mental trauma.
Her son on the other hand took it as just another training session on a Tuesday.
"Maybe instead of running the runes directly through the rifling to have the rifle speed the bullets up, instead perhaps have them create some kind of field the bullets pass through to speed it up?"
She rolled her eyes and gave his hair a tug where her hand was.
"Ow." He hissed and turned to glare at her, "Yes mom?"
Artemis's lips formed into a smirk as their identical silver eyes met, basking in the irritation that he conferred to her, "Do you ever stop thinking or planning? If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were my sister's child."
"Please." Arthur snorted, "Half those nerds wouldn't know a half-decent plan if it bit them on the ass."
"Oh? You think you're more talented in terms of planning than the children of Athena, the goddess of wisdom and battle strategy." She questioned, "Pride happens to be one of their flaws as well."
Her son shrugged, "Well over half of them have never been on a quest much less been outside of camp. Natural talent and capture the flag can only take them so far. I've already done a quest that could put the old hero's to shame in terms of scope and have trained an entire year with a goddess. I think I'm quite ahead of the curve."
He wasn't wrong, she supposed.
"Perhaps you are right. But you know what that makes you right?" She asked.
Arthur's eyes widened in horror, "Please no."
"My little hunter is still a little prodigy!" She cheered as she went to grab him.
She saw sparks of lighting arc around him as he tried to speed away, but unfortunately for him, she was still faster. For now at least.
Before he could truly register what happened, the Demigod found himself going from leaning on Artemis's side to being sat on her lap. Her arms tightened around him like steel vices and were unyielding to his struggles as she held him down and pushed his head into her chest.
"Mom, stop it!"
"Nope." She said as her head came down and nuzzled into his hair, "This is what you get for not sitting back and relaxing."
"Mom!"
"Not letting go." She sang and began to hug him even tighter, "Our one year of training is about to end and I won't get to see you anywhere near as often as I like. Then in a week, you'll be a teenager, and after that, it's only a few short years until you're an adult. For you, it might seem like an eternity from now, but for me, it'll feel like an instant.
This might be one of the last times I can truly just sit and cuddle my baby…"
Nearly instantly she felt Arthur stop struggling and relax in her grip.
Another smile graced her face as she leaned back and closed her eyes.
She had seen and done many things during the last 4 thousand years, but this moment she decided, sitting out under the stars and moon with her son cuddled up against her, would be her most treasured memory above all else.
Arthur:
"-"
"What's with the face Percy? I haven't seen you in like a whole year."
"-"
"Percy?"
Crack
"Fuck!" I roared as my head snapped back and blood erupted from my nose, "What the hell man?"
"You used us as bait for a freaking war god and then you disappear without saying anything for a year!" Percy roared as he tackled me to the ground and began wrestling me, "Who does that!"
Alright, now that I'm thinking about it. I might have deserved that.
But in my defense. Artemis was the one who grabbed me after I met with Zeus and Poseidon. I had been planning on going back to camp afterward and making it up to them.
Namely using my infinite cash card to buy Annabeth a whole library and Percy's mom a new house.
Admittedly I did get sidetracked for a bit, yes.
"You also knew Luke was a traitor the whole time!? Grover almost got dragged to Tartarus because of those shoes he gave us!" Percy continued as he throttled me.
Okay, maybe I was an asshole. I'll just have to make it up to them after I avoid getting killed by Percy/
Using some of my newfound strength from my training, I grabbed ahold of Percy and flipped him before putting him into a hold so he couldn't move.
It was to me eternal mortification that I was barely able to do it.
'Excuse me?' That was my first thought before I hit him with an observe.
Percy Jackson, Lvl: 45
Title: Son of Poseidon
[HP] - 20000/20000
[MP] - 19000/19000
I about lost my shit.
I had spent the whole last year training with a goddess and had a reality-breaking advantage. Yet here he was now, five levels below me yet his health and magic were nearly triple what mine were.
What the actual fuck was Sally feeding this kid? Was it the blue cookies? The blue soda? Blue cake? Because whatever it was I wanted it.
"Will you two stop acting like children for two minutes." Annabeth said from beside us, "You're both making a scene."
Looking around I did notice some of the other campers were in fact staring at us.
"Fine." We both said as we pushed off each other, giving me a moment to wipe the blood from my face.
"Now apologize to each other." She said, "Arthur for using us as bait and you Percy for breaking his nose."
Both Percy and I looked at each other before nodding.
"I'm sorry for using you guys as bait and not telling you about everything that was going on." I apologized.
"Sorry for breaking your nose," Percy muttered.
Annabeth nodded, "Good, now that that's out of the way. Arthur, where have you been for the entire last year? No one, not even Chiron or Mr. D knew where went. Some people even thought you got killed."
I shrugged, "My mother took me on a year-long training trip after I returned the bolt."
Both their eyes widened.
"Artemis spent a whole year with you?" Percy asked through gritted teeth.
Oh yeah. The gods generally didn't do that. Hell Percy's probably only met his dad twice for a couple of minutes each. And one of those times was as a baby.
"I guess that makes sense." Annabeth muttered, "While it's certainly not normal, Arthur is a special case."
"How is he any different from the rest of us?" Percy asked.
"Percy, he's Artemis's first and only child. Both of our parents have had thousands of children throughout the millennia. We're just two more who will be replaced in another decade or so. For her, this is a completely new experience. It makes sense she chose to go out of her way to make time for him." Annabeth reasoned as she looked over at me.
I nodded, "She got permission to shirk her duties for a bit since I'm her first, but that's it. She promised to see me every once in a while, nothing like the past year though.
It was a bummer. I legitimately did enjoy spending time with Artemis. Despite everything she was a surprisingly good mother and teacher.
"Arthur, do you need to go to the medical tent for your nose or…" Annabeth started before she trailed off and stared at my face.
I was confused for a moment before the realization hit me. They didn't know about my healing factor via Gamers Body. Already I could feel my nose righting itself and the itch of the bruise that was their momentarily healing.
"Oh yeah, I can heal fast too."
"Oh… neat." She nodded back with a faraway look in her eyes.
Percy snorted as he stepped closer to inspect my face, "Healing factor huh? Got any other powers we should know about?"
Sheepishly I smiled and raised my hand while yanking on the tingling sensation in my spine.
"Chidori."
The clearing was suddenly filled with the sounds of chirping birds and arcing electricity.
Percy stared at me with an unimpressed look and I'm pretty sure I heard the thump of Annabeth passing out from next to me.
"I just want you to know that you're broken and your powers are bullcrap."
I felt my right eye twitch in indignation as I glanced back at the observe prompt.
"You're one to talk to, Kelphead."
Percy smirked back at me, "Whatever you say Sparky, but we have bigger fish to fry right now."
"And that is?" I asked with an idea of what he was talking about already forming in my head.
"Grover's about to be either eaten by a monster if we don't save him. He was searching for Pan down in Florida when he got cornered by a monster in a wedding dress shop. Now he's stuck on an island in the Sea of Monsters. Also if you didn't notice the scorched and dying landscape, the border barrier that protects the camp is failing. Someone poisoned the tree."
Yep, it's pretty spot on with what went down in the books. Also yeah, it was kind of hard to miss all the death and decay that had infected the forest.
"So what are you guys waiting for? Shouldn't you have left already to go and rescue him?"
"We're trying our best." Percy shook his head, "But we haven't been able to get permission to go on one yet."
"Chiron won't assign a quest to save Grover?" I asked in faux confusion.
"Chiron got canned and got blamed for poisoning Thalia's tree. He left to visit some family down south until this all blew over. Unfortunately, his replacement is kind of an-"
"Dick, asshole, raging cunt?" I supplied with a grin.
Percy paused at my language. He seemed to mull it over before saying, "Yeah an asshole. A huge one."
I did my best to suppress the smirk that threatened to spill onto my face. Ah, corrupting the innocent. I didn't have a little brother to corrupt in this life, didn't know if I had one in the last one, but Percy would do just fine.
Well, scratch that as far as I knew, I very well could have a little half brother running around somewhere. I wasn't about to bet a single cent on Richard having kept it in his pants.
"So he won't issue a quest to save Grover or save the camp's most important line of the defense?" I mauled over, "Well why do you guys even need a quest to do so?"
"Arthur you know we're not allowed to leave camp without permission."
"We aren't?"
"No you moron, they cover it in the safety briefing!"
Oh yeah, I think I remember pointedly ignoring that briefing. Good times.
"How do they plan on stopping me if I choose to leave and make my own quest?"
Percy shrugged, "Harpies and the camp's border control."
I hit the boy in front of me with a pointed stare, "Percy. I just spent an entire year training with a literal goddess and now have access to Zeus's powers. You meanwhile fought off the literal God of War himself, I doubt anyone could stop us from leaving if they tried."
"I mean yeah, but let's give it a couple of days at least. We still might be able to convince Tantalus to give us a quest. I really don't want to explain to my mom that I got kicked out of camp for beating up the guards and leaving without permission."
That worked out well enough actually. In a few days, Hermes would issue Percy a quest, which gave me time to plan out what I needed to accomplish and relax a little. Camp Halfblood was a slice of paradise after all and it meant I could crash in my mother's cabin and sleep in a real bed for the first time in a year.
"Sounds like a plan." I agreed before looking to my side and noticed a still unconscious Annabeth, "Why'd you think she passed out?"
"Oh, I don't know." Percy snarked, "Maybe it's because the Son of Artemis came back announcing he just had a personal year of training with his Olympian Goddess mother, showed off he has some kind of supernatural healing factor, and he can use the powers of Zeus now. I'm sure Wise Girl's brain short-circuited from the absurdity and possibilities you just showed her."
He had a point.
Sighing I bent down and picked her gently up bridal style, "I'll take her back to the Athena Cabin so her siblings can make sure she's good. Are you doing anything later? I could use a good spar and see where I stake up against one of the camp's greatest swordsmen."
"A bit later, with her knocked out I gotta go make sure my chariot is good for the races tomorrow." Percy said and began walking away, "Try not to drop her on her head, she comes up with enough crazy plans as is."
I snorted. Like Percy had any room to talk about crazy-ass plans.
Without another word I casually made my way over to where the Athena Cabin was located, taking my time to take in the camp and not accidentally drop the girl. I wasn't too worried about the latter considering she felt barely like a hundred pounds and my strength stat was well beyond the threshold needed for that.
Walking up towards the grey building with a great owl engraved upon the door, I gave it a couple taps with my foot as a substitute for knocking.
A few moments later a blonde-haired boy opened the door. A quick flick of my eyes upwards revealed his name to be Malcolm. I think I remembered him.
"Hello there… is there a reason you're carrying my unconscious sister around?" He asked unsurely, "Also who are you? I don't quite recognize you."
Understandable, since I was last at camp my hair color had changed and I currently had sunglasses on. They'd become a necessity ever since I realized the mist did not extend to my silver-colored eyes. Made interactions with mortals kinda awkward.
"Well, I haven't been to camp in a while. Names Arthur, son of Artemis. As for Annabeth, she collapsed after seeing I could manipulate lightning like a child of Zeus."
"Oh yeah, Arthur." Malcolm said before blinking in confusion and gained a faraway look in his eyes, "Wait, you can manipulate lightning? How does that even work? Artemis doesn't have any shared domains with Zeus. Does that mean your father was a legacy of him? Which would mean you have a father. We were kinda theorizing that you were a thought child like us."
I shrugged at Malcolm's rambling. If the hair and eyes didn't give it away, this kid was definitely Athena's child.
"As interesting as talking about who my old man is, you mind moving so I can put her on her bunk?"
Malcolm came back down from his theorizing and nodded sheepishly, "Yeah, her bunks the one in the back with the San Francisco hoodie on it."
"Thanks," I said as I brushed past him and made my way to the back of the cabin.
It was just as I remembered from when Annebeth had let me view its library a year ago. The bunks were all crammed in the back to maximize the space for all the workbenches, bookshelves, armor stands, and… smart screens?
What the hell? The iPhone literally just dropped a couple of days ago. Maybe I shouldn't be surprised? Athena probably has children inside all the major tech companies. Apparently, she was able to hook her children at camp up because of it.
I laid the girl on her bunk and turned to leave, intending on unwinding in my cabin for a bit.
"Hi!"
Blinking, I looked around for where the voice came from, before looking down.
I found a little girl who had all the same features as Annabeth did. Blonde hair, grey eyes, and tanned skin. Taking a wild guess I assumed this was one of Annabeth's younger siblings.
"Hello there," I answered back.
The girl beamed up at me, "My name's Curie! Are you Arthur?"
Heh, Curie. I'm guessing it was in reference to Marie Curie.
"Indeed I am. Have we met before?"
"Nope." She said, "But I saw you here studying with Annie last year at our library. She talks about you when you're not around."
Oh yeah, I remember that. It was when I convinced her to let me access the Athena cabins library. Say what you will about the Athena kids sometimes being know it alls, but they were always willing to teach and share knowledge if one was eager to learn.
"Are you Annie's boyfriend?" She suddenly asked.
I snorted. It seems even the little siblings of Demigods were just as nosy as their mortal counterparts.
"Can't say that I am a kid. That spot is reserved for Percy." I said with an evil grin.
I'm sure that rumor would be spread by dinner time.
I chuckled as I bent down a little and ruffled her hair before heading for the door, "See you around kid."
Abyss Watcher crashed against Riptide in a shower of sparks. The two legendary swords both glowing with power as Percy and I kept our blades locked in an attempt to overpower each other.
Unfortunately for him, I was still the stronger one currently, so a quick surge of strength that I channeled into a push sent him stumbling back.
Seeing my chance I brought the Archangel blade down in an arc in an attempt to secure victory as fast as possible.
If I learned one thing about Percy, it's that the kid had stamina in spades. Which was especially dangerous considering he was far and away the better swordsman.
Normally the nearly unending stamina was my advantage, as I had never quite found an upper limit to my stamina. Sure I got tired and could work up a sweat, but it never quite inhibited my performance.
Whether that was because I just never approached the limit and it was an invisible number hooked to one of my stats like my regen ability, I didn't know. But I had a feeling it had to do with Gamer's Body always trying to keep me in fighting condition.
But that advantage was neutralized when my opponent could just disarm me or give me lethal wounds before it became a war of attrition. I had a similar problem with fighting Artemis.
My plan though was for not as even in a stumble Percy somehow did the damn disarming maneuver that Luke taught him.
My sword flew into the air as Percy righted himself and brought his blade back around to strike.
Time for plan B, I suppose.
"Chidori!"
ChirpChirpChirp
The sound of a thousand birds chirping filled the arena and my lighting coated had blurred towards Percy's sternum. To which the little bastard responded by bringing the flat of Riptide around to block it.
The technique collided with the divine metal, which caused an ungodly screeching noise and a flash of light.
I barely caught myself from stumbling forward as the Son of Posioden was launched back. He went into an uncontrolled role across the arena until he came to a stop a good 30 feet away, Riptide long gone from his grip and thrown across on the other side near where Abyss Watcher had landed.
I smiled triumphantly, "And that makes 6 to 5 Percy, I do believe I'm in the lead now."
Percy let out a groan as he attempted to stand back up, his hands going to his leather chest plate to extinguish the embers where some of my lightning had connected.
"Like Hades it is Arthur. Where 5 to 5 now. Who taught you how to count? Clarisse?"
"Who knows?" I answered with a shrug. Which to be fair I really didn't. I had none of the memories from this body's childhood and mine were straight-up fried, "Now we going to keep talking or we gonna fight against?"
"All you're going to be doing is eating dirt, Arthur." Percy snarked before reaching into his pocket and grabbing a reappeared Riptide, "Don't think I haven't noticed you getting more frugal with your lightning. What, starting to run out of juice?"
My lips tugged into a frown that caused Percy to start laughing. Say what you will about the kid and his sense of self-preservation, but he could be pretty damn perceptive during battle.
After all these bouts my MP was sitting pretty damn low. I didn't have basically an ocean of mana to call on like Percy and my regeneration currently took about half an hour to fill me back up.
Doesn't help that my lighting abilities were also relatively expensive and hard to level as well. I could use the well of points I had stored up to increase it… but this way did kind of force me to not rely on just spamming magic.
Taking a deep breath I felt pressure build inside of my lungs and I extended my hand towards Abyss Watcher. An explosion of wind cracked the air as my sword came flying back towards my hand.
Skill leveled up!
Aerokinesis, Lvl (12): An ability that allows you to manipulate wind.
- 48 MP per minute
- Huff and puff with this and you'll blow a skyscraper down.
Nice. I had been meaning to level that up more.
I could possibly just make a void in the air around Percy's head and choke him into unconsciousness with Aerokenises, but that required concentration. Plus that would be kind of a dick thing to do.
Percy suddenly blurred for the briefest of seconds and I had only a few moments before he crashed into my guard again. Not even a second later he moved back to send a flurry of slashes at my arms.
Deciding to be economical, I summoned a small light shield to deflect a particularly fast strike upwards. It was followed up by a gust of air to push him back.
Only as Percy flew back he swiped an arm towards me and something smashed into my legs, sweeping them out from under me.
My head smashed into the arena floor and I had to blink the bleariness away that had temporarily taken over my vision.
I figured he had summoned some water from the humidity in the air to knock me over. Instead, my eyes almost bulged out of my head when I saw that the stone itself had risen up to knock me over and was now moving to encase my legs.
So he had Geokinesis?
"Oh, that's right, the Earth-Shaker," I muttered and moved my eyes over to a smug-looking Percy.
"You're not the only one who learned new tricks this past year Arthur! Now it's 6 to -"
"I cast a Thunderbolt."
From my outstretched hand, a blue bolt of lightning blasted forward and hit him square in the chest before he could finish.
The Chidori was a piercing technique, a scalpel that could target and go through an enemy's armor when I needed to be precise.
My Thunderbolt spell meanwhile was my hammer.
The roar of lightning striking sounded through the arena as it detonated on impact and blasted Percy into the far wall.
A quick observe showed me his health was still in the realm of the living. Though his leather chest piece was now fully charred and falling apart.
My mana pool was now completely drained, but damn did that feel good.
Tearing my legs free I got up and walked over to where he impacted.
"You were saying?"
All I received was a groan and a half-lidded glare in return, "Eat shit and die Arthur."
My smile threatened to break my face at that. My corruption of the innocent continued on.
My first day back and I was already late for dinner.
Wasn't exactly my fault per se. I had just gotten a little sidetracked exploring the camp and napping. Which I had to say, was very much needed along with a shower after my little bouts with Percy.
I know I healed physically to keep me at peak performance as long as I had HP left, but I swear I still felt sore from the places Percy had decided to punch me when we would get into hand to hand.
Sally must be putting god damn steroids into those cookies.
Though my trip to my cabin wasn't too unfruitful. Besides a working hot shower and a comfy bed, well-deserved luxuries after my year of training. A wrapped present and note were sitting on my bunk.
Both were from Artemis as apparently, it was in fact my 13th birthday today.
The gift itself was a white and silver leather jacket, with the insides being lined with some kind of golden-bronze fur I didn't recognize. The note both wished me a happy birthday and explained what the jacket was.
Apparently, it was made from a Nemean Lion that had been hunted some time ago and had been blessed by her. It would adapt to my size as I got older and either keep me cool or warm depending on the weather.
It was a great gift and obviously one that had been made with love.
And it was messing with my mind.
Every day I spent in this world, every new connection I made, and every new thing I experienced made it harder and harder to believe this world was a game. Maybe it wasn't, but the game wouldn't give me a straight answer. Especially how it had left itself on a cliffhanger during its tutorial.
I didn't like thinking of the consequences if it wasn't. Because chief among them was the fact I had killed Richard by turning down that quest. I possibly had gotten a living and breathing man killed and left at least 4 people without their father.
And then there was Artemis. She was a great mother and loved Arthur absolutely unconditionally, she even had broken her oath that was thousands of years old just to finally have a child.
Yet I had taken that away from her. She didn't know it, but the Arthur Winchester she had birthed was for all intents and purposes, dead and gone.
I sighed and zipped up my new leather jacket, feeling the humid summer heat of New York vanish and be replaced by the feeling of being in a nice A/C condition environment despite being outside with a jacket on.
In the end, it really didn't matter I guess. As long as no one knew the truth of what I really was, no one would be upset.
Walking into the dining Pavilion, the conversation died a bit. Rolling my eyes I made my way towards and plopped down at the Poseidon table across from Percy.
My green-eyed friend shot me an inquisitive look as he tore another rib off its bone, "What, not going to sit at your table?"
"It's quite lonely sitting by yourself if you haven't noticed," I said dryly as a similar plate of food and soda were given to me by a Wood Nymph.
Glancing at the caramel beverage, I remembered Percy was able to ask for a change of drinks in the lightning thief, "Arnold Palmer instead please?"
To my delight, the glass changed near-instantly into my favorite half tea/half lemonade drink.
"Much better." I hummed in contentment.
Which lasted all of ten seconds, unfortunately.
"You there! Why are you late for dinner? The new rules clearly state that you are to be at the dining pavilion exactly when dinner starts! And what are you doing at the Poseidon table? Did old barnacle beard have another child that I haven't heard off?"
All the chatting in the pavilion stopped.
Glancing out of the corner of my eye, I saw the source of the voice. It was an old man in a ratty orange prisoner uniform.
I promptly ignored him and sipped my drink, savoring the Tea and Lemony flavor.
"Percy." I sighed and put my drink down, "Who let the crazy homeless dude into camp?"
The silence was still there, but now I could hear some snickers start to permeate it. Not surprisingly most of it was from the Hermes table. Even Percy was failing a bit to keep a smirk from his face.
"Excuse you brat!?"
"Ah yes, Alec Clark." A blotchy-faced man in a leopard print shirt drawled from the other man's side and gestured to me, "Our other most troublesome camper besides Peter Johnson."
My eye twitched, "It's Arthur Winchester. Also, have we met yet?"
Now obviously I knew who this was. If literally, everything about him didn't give it away, a quick glance at the name over his head sure did. Though I wasn't joking when I asked if we had met or not, I legitimately didn't remember meeting him the last time I was at camp.
Dionysus promptly ignored me, "This one's the son of Artemis, you need to keep a close eye on him as well as Tantalus."
"I see." Tantalus muttered and stared at me with those beady hollowed eyes, "Now if you would be so kind boy, go sit at your own table and expect a punishment for being late to dinner."
My fist clenched and I felt that tingling sensation build in my spine. I was already in a bad mood and being 13 meant I was going through puberty again. So incidentally, an asshole adult lording authority over me wasn't sitting very well.
"Or and follow me here, how about you go fuck yourself with that 10-foot poll you have shoved up your ass."
Silence reigned over the pavilion. The campers had stopped eating and were either staring at me like I had gone insane or nervously glancing at the head table.
Amusedly I noticed out of the corner of my eyes that Percy had nearly spat his food out and was trying not to laugh, and a now awake Annebeth was shooting me a concerned look from her table.
At the head table, Mr. D looked amused as he continued to eat peeled grapes from the centaur next to him.
Tantalus however looked murderous.
Good. I didn't like this fuckhead anyway. Not only was he fine with the camp basically getting destroyed and everyone dying, but he almost got people killed by bringing back chariot racing and letting those birds try and eat people.
Plus you know, the guy killed his own son and cooked him for fuck's sake!
"How dare you brat. I'll have you doing every chore in this camp for the next hundred years!" He snarled as he slammed a fist onto his table, "I am the Son of Zeus and the activities director here, I will be shown respect!"
I narrowed my eyes, "I know your story, you don't get to claim to be a Son of Zeus considering how he took you to Hades for punishment himself. But if you really want to play that card…"
The lightning inside of me unleashed itself and cloaked around me in a torrent of arcing bolts.
Tantalus fell out of his chair from how hard he flinched back while Mr. D simply arched an eyebrow in mild surprise before shrugging and popping another grape into his mouth.
The campers honestly took it better than expected.
"I told you I saw him using Lightning early!"
"How can he even do that? Almost all of us here are the grandchildren of Zeus! Why can't we do that as well!"
Rolling my shoulders as the power settled within me I leveled a glare on Tantalus, "I think we can be clear on which one of us is favored more by Zeus. Hell could you ever even summon a spark of electricity before you got sent to the Fields of Punishment?"
I already knew that answer. Strangely enough, the children of Zeus seemed to never quite inherit his elemental powers except for Jason and Thalia.
Before things could escalate further Mr. D cleared his throat.
"Ladies ladies you are both very pretty, but this is dinner, not the fighting Arena. Alec, please cool it with the light show and Tantalus no such rules are in place nor did I ever give them the okay to be put into effect. The campers are allowed to sit wherever they please, even if it is tradition to sit on their own." He finished before giving us both a pointed look.
Not wanting to be like Percy and piss off every god I was going to meet, I backed down and shut down my cloak of lighting. Tantalus also backed down and he went back to trying to get ahold of his food.
Turning my head back towards my food, I found Percy beaming at me with a grin.
"What?" I asked
"Oh nothing, just glad I'm not the only one in the spotlight for being a troublemaker and a freak for once." He said with contentment before he seemed to remember something, "Oh and Arthur?"
"Yeah Kelphead?"
"Why in the Hades has everybody been congratulating me about dating Annabeth?"
