Black Mentis was already inside the chaos. His silhouette blurred between monsters—each punch sending bodies slamming into twisted cars, streetlights, walls. One heavy blow hit a giant demon and the shockwave tossed smaller ones through windows.
The thirteen A-rank heroes formed around him, young and hyped-up but holding the line.
Mentis lifted two fingers to his comm.
Black Mentis: "Stick to your training! Do not fight them head-on—leave that to me. Break their groups so they don't spill into the nearby cities!"
Affirmations crackled back at him. The formation shifted.
Frostbite exhaled—cold mist blooming around her face. She snapped her hands down; ice ripped through the pavement, spearing a wave of demons climbing over a crushed bus. Frozen shards rained around her boots.
Frostbite: "Booyaa! Babeh—what a strike!"
She slid sideways, forming another barricade.
Frostbite: "C'mon, Inferno! Cover! Let's melt and freeze these bastards!"
Inferno bounded up over her in the air, flames swirling off his shoulders.
Inferno: "You got it, sweet cheeks!"
He slapped a demon on the head mid-jump — a literal fire-palm smack — and the creature exploded into flame. Inferno laughed
:"Gotttchaaaaa."(hehehehe)
He slammed forward like a comet, molten heat exploding off his fists. Demons on the flank ignited, their bodies popping under the heat.
Inferno (laughing): "Looks like I got more than you— I'm not saying anything, I'm just saying!"
Thunderstrike stomped up behind them, warhammer crackling.
Thunderstrike: "Yea, asshole, leave some for us! Are you expecting me to let you outshine me? Hell nah dawg!"
He swung the hammer into the ground— The street cracked open, demons lifting off the pavement like toys.
Thunderstrike smacked his forehead with two fingers.: "Now THAT'S a home run! They flew straight to the damn moon! Somebody keep score—I'm winning this shit! So drinks on all over you mahn."
Black Mentis used the opening—one kick, two, five—demons launched in every direction as he tore a straight path toward Megalodon.
Black Mentis: "Gravity—crush down the ones blocking my route."
Gravity froze for half a second, then lifted her arms. Her breath shook. The air warped. The entire battlefield dipped, like gravity twisted sideways.
Demons staggered, crushed under pressure. A heartbeat later, the force flipped—
She yanked her hand up, then she dragged it down fast.
Demons shot into the earth atmosphere— then crashed down hard, bodies bursting on impact and cuts flying slamming into the ruined street.
Gravity (teeth clenched): "G-Got it! I can't hold this long!"
Mentis: "Use your surroundings. Your stamina's the lowest—fight smart."
Gravity: "R-Right!"
Spectra descended with a sweep of light, her boots touching the ground softly. She extended her hands; a gentle pulse steadied Gravity's wobbling limbs, reinforcing her control.
Spectra (whispering): "Hey, steady your breathing. You got this."
Nightstalkers slithered out of the smoke next—long limbs, bone masks, silent movements.
Photon stepped in front, shield flaring.
Photon: "They're adapting! Shit— they're learning our strategy!"
A claw slammed his shield, sparks bursting from the impact.
Photon cut down a demon in half:' They ain't stupid y'all so be careful.'
Black Mentis swept his arm sideways—several violet blasts cut through incoming demons. His eyes locked on Megalodon.
Black Mentis (under his breath): "I'll get to you soon… you bastard."
Blink vanished mid-run.
Violet static flickered across the battlefield as she teleported through demon ranks—touching shoulders, skulls, knees—each target vanishing skyward, reappearing miles above the city where gravity finished the job.
Blink: "Save your energy, boss! We got the small fry—go for their leader.!"
She reappeared near a towering commander demon—its armor thicker, blade humming. Blink grinned, took her daggers out.
Blink: "Eyes on their commander! Anyone wanna lend a hand?"
She didn't wait.
One quick slice—clean through the spine. The commander dropped, armor clattering on the ground.
Demons around him faltered instantly.
Blink: "Sike— now the back of your head is ridiculous! Haaa!"
The demon fell on his face, ass up!
She nudged the corpse with her boot.
Blink: "Didn't need backup after all. "(Giggle)
:"But ugh…I'll give this dude a 2/10 and just because he fell like a damn ostrich."
She shot the team a thumbs-up— Then blinked out of sight.
