For the last five years, I have pushed my physical body to its absolute limit. I've also dedicated myself to learning to read and write—a rare skill in this world, which is a curious mix of medieval society and dark fantasy. Knowledge is hoarded by the nobility like treasure; very few commoners can read, and even fewer can write. I've become one of the handful in my village who can do both.
The path ahead is clear in my mind. I recall that in the stories, prospective students can go directly to the academy to take the entrance exam. There are two primary examination locations: the first is held in a major city called Black Rose City, and the second—the more prestigious one—is held in the capital of the strongest human empire, the Augustus Empire, ruled by the Augustus royal family. That family will also produce one of the main characters, a monster in human form. All of them, the main characters, are around my age, and each is a freak of nature, blessed with the cheats and bloodlines I remember.
This world seamlessly blends fantasy with RPG mechanics. Dungeons are scattered everywhere, their entrances dotting the landscape like wounds in the earth. Around my village alone, there are many F-rank dungeons and roughly ten E-rank ones.
The dungeon ranking system is precise, with each main rank divided into three sub-ranks:

2. E-, E, E+
3. D-, D, D+
4. C-, C, C+

Talents follow a similar ranking, with terrifying exceptions. The lowest-talent main character I recall possessed a Legendary+ rank talent. The highest among them operated on a level beyond the scale, wielding something referred to as an Origin-Rank talent.
My own status remains pitiful in comparison, a constant reminder of the chasm I must cross. The system's quest and its severe penalty loom over every moment of my training. The countdown continues: eight years remain. My journey to Black Rose City, and the first step toward the Lunar Academy, must begin soon.
