During the half month spent with the Red-Haired Pirates, Bai Yun discovered a flaw in the Copy-Copy Fruit.
If a person possessed multiple abilities, such as Devil Fruit powers, martial arts, gunmanship, swordsmanship, Armament Haki, and Observation Haki (Conqueror's Haki could not be replicated),
Then, if Bai Yun wanted to replicate, he could only replicate one ability at a time.
And as mentioned before, after replication, it could only be used once. Technical abilities were fine; after one replication, one gained immediate proficiency. Devil Fruit abilities, however, were different; after one replication, to use them again, another replication was needed.
However, there was a third outcome outside of these two, and that was the issue of physical constitution.
No matter how good the skill or ability, it required a strong physique to support it. Bai Yun was afflicted with a 'frail and sickly' buff by the system, and training on his own would be too time-consuming.
Therefore, he would probably set sail with Luffy in the future, constantly replicating Luffy's physique, using it once and then replicating it again. After all, in the world of pirates, who had a stronger physique (aura) than Luffy? He was practically an unkillable cockroach.
As for what abilities Bai Yun replicated from the Red-Haired Pirates during this half-month, that was a story for later. This would be his capital for future sea adventures... "I'm the man who will be King of the Pirates!"
Inside Makino's bar, Luffy stood on the central table, shouting his ideal wish.
He had wanted to pull Bai Yun up with him, but Bai Yun refused. Did he even need to think why?
The tavern fell silent for three seconds, then erupted into waves of laughter.
Makino also looked at Luffy with doting eyes, not caring at all that he was standing on the table.
"Hahaha, little Luffy really has big dreams!"
"Hahaha, do you have what it takes, little Luffy? The sea is extremely dangerous."
"Of course! I've become a rubber man! Even though I'll be a landlubber my whole life, it's super cool!"
"And Bai Yun has also agreed to be my nakama! He's really strong!"
Luffy pulled his mouth wide with both hands, demonstrating his Gum-Gum Fruit ability.
"Is that so? Then we support you! If you become the King of the Pirates, our village will benefit too! Hahaha!"
The villagers were still very kind to Luffy.
"Benefit?"
"What's so beneficial about being a pirate!"
"Although becoming a rubber man is indeed incredible, so what?"
"I've told you many times I won't let you become a pirate! Luffy, don't tarnish the town's reputation!"
"Although that captain is quite sensible! But don't associate with him anymore!"
The old mayor, wearing a striped hat and striped pants, tough on the outside but soft on the inside, made his appearance. He slammed his cane on the ground, expressing strong disapproval of Luffy's thoughts of becoming a pirate.
Luffy didn't listen at all, covering his ears and sticking out his tongue, looking annoyed at being lectured.
As soon as the mayor finished speaking, Luffy immediately retorted,
"I don't care, I will definitely become the King of the Pirates!"
"You! Said! You! Want! To! Be! What!!"
"Luffy!!!"
Like the voice of a demon, Luffy had clearly forgotten that today was Garp's return. Bai Yun had forgotten too; he had been busy studying the Devil Fruit abilities these past few days.
The voice was like a curse. Luffy seemed to be cursed into a puppet, rigidly turning his head to see Garp standing at the tavern entrance in a black suit.
"Grandpa, I..."
Luffy felt a little guilty, because Garp's fists were no joke. But Luffy felt the hat on his back, and for some reason, his confidence surged.
"I'm the man who will be King of the Pirates!"
A vein immediately popped on Garp's forehead. 'Good kid, not even hiding it in front of me, huh?'
Garp slowly walked into the tavern, approaching Luffy. Everyone in the tavern fell silent, watching them.
He looked at Luffy, then Garp quickly shifted his gaze to Bai Yun.
"Bai boy, didn't I tell you to watch Luffy? And you let him hang out with those Red-Hair guys!"
Bai Yun felt guilty. He wished Luffy would hang out with Shanks and his crew.
Not knowing how to answer, Bai Yun chose to play dumb, climbing directly onto the table to stand with Luffy and raising Luffy's hand.
"Luffy will definitely become the King of the Pirates! I support him!! We will get the One Piece!"
Luffy smiled, very happy. Of course he was happy to have someone support him.
Garp's face instantly darkened, veins popping all over his face.
"You two brats!!!!!"
..."Damn it! It hurts so much! I'm rubber, why does it still hurt?! Let go of me, Grandpa!"
On the mountain path of Mount Colubo, Garp carried two little rascals, one in each hand.
He held Bai Yun in his left hand and Luffy in his right.
Garp pulled on half of Luffy's face, lifting him up. Luffy kept hitting Garp's thigh with his hands in protest. Bai Yun didn't dare to resist; he knew they were probably going to Dadan's house next.
Garp said, exasperated,
"You two brats, King of the Pirates, One Piece!"
"You've been brainwashed by that Red-Hair guy, haven't you!"
"Leaving you two in the unreliable Foosha Village was truly a miscalculation. I thought you, Bai boy, would be more sensible, but I forgot you're just a little brat too!"
"I even let you stay because your Devil Fruit ability seemed good, but I didn't expect you to be brainwashed too!"
"You, Luffy, and Ace can only become excellent Marines in the future!"
Bai Yun: Yes, yes, whatever you say.
