Chapter 92 - Chapter 92: Situations Breaking Out Frequently

[The Helicarrier, Engine No. 3]

Colonel Rogers took down several enemies and made his way to the blasted breach.

"Stark!"

Captain America looked toward the other end of the sky, at the wrecked device in tatters. For a moment he couldn't think of a solution and shouted Tony's name.

"I'm here!"

Wearing the Mark 7 suit, Tony blasted flames from his hands and feet, looping in through the air to the damaged section of the engine.

JARVIS scanned the extent of the engine damage, and a repair plan quickly took shape in Tony's mind, 'I need to get this superconducting cooling system running again. Before I start, I have to clear those obstructions…'

Thinking this, Tony cleared away the twisted steel that could no longer be used, while directing Colonel Rogers at the same time, "I need you to get to the engine control box and tell me which switches are in an overload state…"

Colonel Rogers craned his neck, trying hard to hear Tony clearly, but all he caught was that he needed to get to the control box.

He immediately swung nimbly along the broken steel beams to the target location.

Honestly speaking, paired with that tight suit, the way Colonel Rogers swung over really did look a bit like a top-level gymnast.

When Captain Rogers finally reached the fractured platform and pulled out the control panel, the dense mass of wires and circuit boards made his head spin.

"How is it?"

Tony was repairing another heavily damaged spot. Right now, he needed feedback from Rogers.

"Looks like it's just a bunch of circuit boards here."

That's right. "Antique" Colonel Rogers had no idea what on those complicated electronic components counted as overload.

Tony had already anticipated this the moment he gave the order:

"Oh~ very professional."

He added another line to his solution list, don't rely too much on this old guy.

———

"Hulk is in the Level 4 R&D lab. The monitors on Level 2 and Level 3 are damaged."

The personnel responsible for surveillance loudly reported the battle damage.

"Hulk is going to tear this place apart, sir!"

Agent Hill fired while loudly warning Nick Fury.

Fury dodged enemy fire as he issued the order, divert Hulk's attention.

"Escort Six-Zero, proceed to the laboratory and engage the hostile target!"

In the midst of the fight, Agent Hill pressed the communicator and shouted the command.

At this moment, an escort fighter from the Helicarrier slowly approached Hulk's location in the air.

"Don't get too close!"

Over the communicator, thinking of Hulk's freakish strength, Agent Hill added an extra warning.

"Roger!"

The fighter pilot didn't seem to truly grasp the meaning and replied confidently.

As the fighter adjusted its position in the air and locked onto the fighting Hulk.

At this moment, Hulk was brawling with Corin.

Hulk's attacks landing on Corin caused no damage at all. The sound of metal striking metal rang out again and again.

This was the defensive effect of Corin's steel body.

And Corin didn't use any ranged abilities either, just trading punches and kicks with Hulk like this.

Unlike Hulk's completely unstructured street brawling, Corin was a man who had mastered Jeet Kune Do.

Every time he struck, he cut off Hulk's moves before the power could fully build.

This left Hulk feeling especially stifled, even while fighting in his strongest close combat mode.

He had strength, but couldn't use it.

His frequent roars proved his current mood.

"Target locked!"

The fighter pilot flipped the switch, and the heavy machine gun's bullets poured toward Hulk like water.

Hulk, already in a rage from gaining no advantage, felt large-caliber bullets hammering his back and slowly turned, directing his fury toward the fighter.

A running start, a leap!

"The target's gone crazy! The target's gone crazy!"

In the pilot's wide eyes, Hulk's green figure rapidly grew larger.

It wasn't until Hulk grabbed onto the nose of the fighter that the pilot finally realized how precious Agent Hill's earlier warning had been.

But it was already too late. Hulk flashed onto the top of the plane and easily tore out the internal cables.

The out-of-control fighter spiraled as it crashed toward the distance.

At this moment, seeing Hulk suddenly switch targets and leap toward the plane, Corin cursed inwardly.

In two steps he reached the shattered window, raised his hand, activated magnetic control, and fixed the about-to-crash fighter in midair.

The scenery in his field of view rapidly closed in, and Corin realized the pilot inside was in danger.

Hulk vented his rage wildly atop the fighter. In the blink of an eye, he tore a huge hole into it.

In less than half a breath, the fighter's wing was snapped off as well.

If not for Corin's magnetic control, it would have flown off who knows where.

At this moment, Corin realized the problem. Although the plane was now fixed in place, the pilot inside had been fixed along with it.

That meant he couldn't escape from Hulk's iron fists.

Thinking this, Corin immediately adjusted the range of his magnetic control and released the cockpit area.

As Corin adjusted the magnetism, the pilot finally remembered that he still had an emergency ejection system to save his life.

He decisively pulled the lever. The flame thruster beneath the seat instantly activated, blazing fire erupting, ready to blast the pilot and seat out of the cockpit together.

But what drove the pilot to despair was that even as the flames beneath his butt were about to set his legs on fire, he was still stuck in the cockpit, unable to move at all.

The ejection system faithfully continued providing thrust, but the intense heat and pain left the pilot's mind completely blank.

"It's over, I'm going to die this time."

Just as the pilot fell into despair, that invisible giant hand holding down the cockpit seemed to hear his prayers and finally let him go.

Thoom!

The powerful thrust finally produced its intended effect.

The seat shot out of the cockpit, but before the pilot's heart could fall back from his throat, the upward momentum abruptly stopped.

It turned out that at the instant he ejected, Hulk had grabbed the seat with one hand, preventing him from continuing to rise.

"It's over, this time I'm really going to die."

Just as the pilot gave up praying, a cold flash streaked past.

It was Corin, who casually picked up a piece of debris on the ground and helped the pilot out.

As for where the throwing knife was, heh, did Corin even need throwing knives anymore?

Everywhere he walked, all that metal could turn into weapons of all kinds at any moment, including throwing knives.

Those few seconds spent adjusting the magnetism almost had the pilot melted by the flames of the ejection thrust. After finally ejecting successfully, there was no way Corin would let him fall into Hulk's hands again.

Didn't you see that the pilot's pant legs had been burned clean off. Just pitiful.

Hulk's wrist hurt, and he loosened his grip on the seat.

Boom!

After plummeting dozens of meters, the pilot's parachute deployed, saving his life.

At this moment, he remembered Agent Hill's warning, tears streaming down his face, "Agent Hill! I was wrong… ah! It hurts…"

What made him cry wasn't ignoring Agent Hill's advice and ending up in danger, but the searing pain of the burns on his legs.

He even smelled a faint aroma of roasted meat.

The plane that Corin had fixed in midair was now at its limit, on the verge of collapse.

Seeing that the pilot had escaped danger, Corin released his control of the plane and let Hulk fall freely, he wouldn't die anyway.

One less troublemaker was one less problem.

Just then, an explosion rang out. Driven by the shockwave, Hulk's figure accelerated toward the ground, quickly shrinking into a tiny dot and disappearing.

At this moment, Thor arrived beside Corin. Looking at the ever-shrinking Hulk in the distance, he patted Corin on the shoulder, "Good friend! Fighting side by side with you is truly a pleasure."

What Corin was thinking was, "Big brother, do you have any Asgardian souvenir merch on you? Just give me some, I don't mind how little…"

But he couldn't say it out loud.

Those who know, know.

Just then, something seemed to go wrong with the Helicarrier's engines. It tilted, and everything inside slid over.

Corin suddenly remembered Nick Fury's instructions and quickly raised both hands.

Woom!

A powerful magnetic field instantly covered the entire Helicarrier.
