Gulbob and his soldiers got to the camp near the lake with the woman. After some time they prepared to eat dinner.
Soldier 2: "Why are we eating wyvern meat? It literally tastes like leather."
Gulbob: "We gotta eat it before it goes bad. Now eat."
(After dinner)
Gulbob: "Two of you men protect the camp and the woman while we rest. After midnight, wake me up. I'll be on guard for the rest of the night."
Soldiers: "YES, SIR!"
Gulbob: "I'm only gonna say this once: if I catch one of you slacking, the two of you are only gonna eat grass before we go home."
Soldier 2 whispers to himself: "Better than wyvern meat that's basically leather…"
Gulbob: "Did you just say something, soldier?"
Soldier 2: "N-nothing, sir."
Gulbob: "Well said." (walks away)
Soldier 2: "Why does he always have to be so tense with us? We're only telling the truth."
Soldier 1: "I don't know. Maybe he likes the taste of leather… maybe we should start calling him Leather Face." (both of them laugh)
Gulbob: "You know I can still hear you."
Soldiers: "S-SORRY, SIR!"
(Gulbob goes to the woman sitting beside the campfire where they cooked the wyvern.)
Gulbob: "Hello, ma'am."
Surprised, the woman responds:
Woman: "H-hello, sir?"
Gulbob: "Gulbob."
Woman: "Sir Gulbob… sir, I don't mean to be disrespectful, but why are you talking to me?"
Gulbob: "May I sit next to you?"
Woman (gestures yes)
Gulbob: "I just want to ask some questions. May I?"
Woman: "Of course, sir."
Gulbob: "Okay then… what is your name?"
Woman: "Liyandra."
Gulbob: "So, ma'am Liyandra… why are you in the forest alone?"
Liyandra: "My tribe was getting attacked by looters."
Gulbob: "Looters? Buers?"
(She nods slightly.)
"Why do people attack their own kin…"
Liyandra: "Yeah, I know, it's disappointing. Sir… was I wrong for running away and leaving my people?"
Gulbob: "In my opinion, no. In this harsh world, people should prioritize themselves."
Liyandra: "So we're just gonna leave people to die?"
Gulbob: "No. I'm just saying you should think of yourself more than other people, because in this world, death is lurking in every corner."
(They talk for hours and open up a little to one another. After talking…)
Liyandra: "Sir, I had fun talking to you."
Gulbob: "You can just call me Gulbob. And I did too, but we gotta rest for our journey to the tribe. Your tent is right there."
Liyandra: "Thank you, sir, but I'm not that tired."
Gulbob: "Okay, but if you need anything, just look for me. Have a good rest."
Liyandra: "Okay, si— Gulbob."
(Gulbob glances at her for a second, then walks away before she notices.)
Liyandra: "Goodnight, Gulbob."
(While walking, he notices his small pouch is missing, so he goes to Liyandra to ask. He sees Liyandra looking around, then she quickly hides the small pouch in her pocket.)
Gulbob: "Sorry for disturbing you again, Liyandra."
(Liyandra is surprised, thinking he caught her.)
Liyandra: "H-hello, sir… what happened? W-why are you b-back?"
Gulbob: "Nothing. I just wanted to ask if you've seen a small pouch."
Liyandra: "S-sorry, but no."
Gulbob: "Why are you apologizing? It's alright. Well… I'm gonna get going then."
(Walking away, he says to himself)
"Not trustworthy…"
(After some time, the sun is out and they are preparing to depart.)
Soldier 1: "Miss Liyandra, why do you look uneasy?"
Liyandra: "It's nothing."
Soldier 1: "You sure?"
Liyandra: "Yup, I'm okay."
Soldier 1: "Okay then, I'm gonna pack up."
(Liyandra walks up to Gulbob.)
Liyandra: "Sir… I found the pouch you're looking for."
Gulbob: "Oh, thank you. And what did I say about calling me sir?"
Liyandra: "Then what do you want me to call you?"
Gulbob: "Gulbob will be fine."
Liyandra: "Oh, okay, Gulbob." (she fidgets)
Gulbob (turns to the two soldiers):
"NOW, MEN! LET'S DEPART!"
Soldiers: "YES, SIR!"
Gulbob (looks at the pouch and thinks to himself):
"She deserves a second chance."
