Chapter 169 - Chapter 169: Decepticon Pursuit

Bella's warning went in one ear and out the other—for both of them. Bumblebee was like a newborn puppy with barely any concept of danger in his head. The girl Charlie had no idea the whirlpool was rapidly spinning toward her either. All she had in her head was one word: play!

Over the next three days, Charlie Watson and Bumblebee played themselves silly.

Memory modules dealt with memory itself, and memory was a domain that even deities found troublesome.

For humans, once the brain was damaged and the parts storing memories were physically destroyed, even a genius would become worthless.

Restoring memory was extremely difficult, whether for magic, superpowers, or modern science—all faced this challenge.

Bella's repair spell didn't involve memory. Bumblebee's memory module was trying to repair and restart under the body's energy supply, but with too much missing, the restart was very slow.

Right now, Bumblebee was as naive as a child—lively and active, finding everything novel. He'd torn apart the Watson home into chaos, gone with Charlie to get revenge on the rich girl by throwing toilet paper on her roof and pelting it with eggs.

Speeding on the highway was one thing, but Bumblebee had even demonstrated the entire process of car-to-humanoid and humanoid-to-car transformation right in front of an old patrol officer.

It nearly scared the old officer to death.

"You two, your target has been discovered by the military! Uh... what agency is this? Strange designation—Sector Seven? I'm warning you, they've got a lot of people."

Root manned the rear base, having now hacked into an external server of Sector Seven. Through surveillance, she saw images of fully armed agents leaving Travis Air Force Base.

"Got it!" Bella still had to attend classes and didn't have that much free time, but Root's intelligence came very timely. She managed to wait at the intersection ahead.

"Stop! Stop!" She extended her hand to block the crazed Charlie Watson and Bumblebee.

A black kid with an afro was accompanying them.

"Go home. Now. Immediately. Right away!" Bella flashed her FBI credentials, scaring the black kid into shaking.

Not until the kid disappeared from view did she speak: "Past this intersection, five hundred meters ahead at the fork, the military has set an ambush. If you keep going, you'll drive right into it."

Charlie Watson was also scared senseless. Anxiously, she looked Bella over twice, vaguely feeling she might know this woman. Hearing about an ambush, she didn't dare stay: "Thank you, thank you. Then we'll go home..."

Bella laughed lightly: "Home? Do you know how many people are hunting you and your friend right now?"

"Friend? Haha, that, I don't have any friends." Charlie Watson still tried to play dumb.

Bella spoke as if unconcerned: "One day ago in Texas, people saw two fireballs falling from the sky—objects from outside the atmosphere. Then military forces urgently mobilized and took over that area. You understand what this means, right?"

She wanted to give the girl some moral education, but Root interrupted through the earpiece.

"I think I should remind you—the military and two strange guys have already spotted you. Thirty-five seconds until they reach your current position."

Bella frowned slightly. The military's response was faster than she'd expected.

Her face had an illusion made by the Golden Apple for disguise—her figure and weight both different from normal. With Earth's current technology level, they couldn't see through it. The pickup had been restyled too. But getting blocked by the military would still be very troublesome.

"Get in! If you trust me, follow!"

She drove the pickup south at high speed. Charlie Watson had no time to think carefully—she made a U-turn and followed.

Less than a minute later.

The thup-thup-thup of rotors appeared in their ears. A blue-painted AH-1W Super Cobra attack helicopter appeared on the horizon, while a red Harrier jet performed low-altitude high-speed flight.

The helicopter's hostility was extremely obvious. It opened fire immediately without hesitation.

The M197 aviation cannon aimed at the two speeding cars below, unleashing a furious metal storm.

She'd always been the one with heavy firepower bullying others—today she was on the receiving end for once!

Bella snorted. She had Shaw drive the pickup while she grabbed an RPG, opened the sunroof, and aimed at the attack helicopter.

Eagle Vision activated. She rapidly calculated the distance between them, then squeezed the trigger. The rocket pulled a long tail of flame toward the sky.

The attack helicopter was more agile than she'd expected. The fuselage pulled sharply upward—the rocket flew past from below.

The metal storm poured down on her mercilessly. The nearby Harrier jet also fired missiles continuously. The pickup struggled over the bumpy road surface. Bella didn't dare stick her head out to attack anymore. The enemy's firepower was just too fierce.

"Hah! Pathetic!" An electronic voice came from within the attack helicopter, clearly male.

He seemed extremely angry about Bella's rocket. This primitive species dared to resist! They should know their place.

Most of his firepower targeted the pickup, but as he kept shooting, he also noticed something wrong. What kind of vehicle was this? Taking over a dozen hits and still running?

"Idiot! Remember our mission!" A sharp female electronic voice came from the Harrier jet. She scolded the attack helicopter mercilessly. The two then turned their guns toward Bumblebee.

Bumblebee, who hadn't recovered any memory, lacked combat skills and could only dodge by instinct. But a car couldn't be as nimble as an airborne helicopter. Facing the crazed barrage, he took hit after hit.

"Hey! You're the idiots!" With the two Decepticons turning their fire toward Bumblebee, Bella's side immediately recovered combat capability.

She picked up the minigun and unleashed a crazed burst at the Decepticons.

"Get Charlie into my vehicle!" She shouted sharply.

Bumblebee thought that made sense. He transformed to humanoid form with a clatter and tossed Charlie Watson toward the pickup. Shaw extended her left hand and pulled the mascot into the cab.

Seeing the two Decepticons in relentless pursuit, unable to wait for his memory to recover, Bumblebee's right hand transformed into an energy cannon. While running, he fired at the attack helicopter.

Bella's minigun rounds also mostly landed on the attack helicopter.

No choice—this guy was a bit slower and his armor didn't look thick. Shooting him was definitely easier than shooting the Harrier.

Rockets were easy to dodge—just a single shot. But with Eagle Vision and the minigun working together, bullets posed a real threat to the Decepticon now. He had to dodge with all his might.

Bella pressed her advantage. Psionic energy gathered together. Mind Blast! She raised her hand and cast her strongest attack spell!
