The golden light of faith protecting the church was stripped away layer by layer.
The radiance became increasingly dim, and the repair speed of the golden light of faith grew slower and slower.
Bella held the M134 high; she hosed down anything that offended her eyes. The crows on the eaves of the church were all turned into minced meat under her fire.
The barrels were spinning frantically. Countless bullets struck the golden barrier in front of the church like raindrops. The incessant buzzing finally alarmed the fanatics inside the church.
With confusion, they leaned against the windows to look out, wanting to see who was provoking them at their own doorstep.
Initially, they were truly startled. Even though they had been trapped in the interstitial space of Silent Hill for thirty years, they still recognized the famous Gatling gun. A bunch of people scrambled away from the windows in a panic, fearing stray bullets would break the glass and take their little lives with a single shot.
But then they discovered that even the glass was protected by the golden light of faith, and the group became spirited again.
"Cultist! That woman is a cultist!"
"Blasphemy! Blasphemy! Burn her too! Burn her!"
"For the Lord's mercy!"
A bunch of people were shouting happily, but no one dared to open the door and drag Bella inside to enjoy 'the Lord's mercy.' It was nothing but empty talk!
Bella didn't indulge them. Whichever side shouted the loudest, she aimed her muzzle there and strafed frantically! "Ask yourselves if you're scared now!"
Even though the bullets were blocked by the golden light, they still made a thud-thud sound when hitting the glass. The clamoring believers were quite enthusiastic, cursing at her through the barrier.
Bella aimed the rain of bullets at the main entrance of the church, attacking back and forth relentlessly like plowing a field.
A box of ammo was quickly emptied. She tossed the M134 to Shaw.
The barrels were too hot! If she used Frost Ray to cool them down, she was worried the barrels would explode directly.
When technology isn't enough, use the supernatural!
Shaw's own negative energy aura had a cooling effect. Unlike magic, that kind of low temperature wasn't a sudden drop. And even taking a step back, even if the barrels exploded, it wouldn't cause much harm to Shaw...
Shaw had been eyeing the M134 for a long time. Without a second word, she strapped on the other ammo box, raised the Gatling gun, and strafed the church with a face full of excitement.
The golden light thinned at a speed visible to the naked eye. At the critical moment, Bella took out another rocket launcher, aimed at the main gate, and pressed the trigger.
This rocket round was the straw that broke the camel's back. The golden light of faith had exhausted its energy repairing the bullet rain from the M134; now, it could no longer withstand the bombardment of the rocket.
The relatively sturdy main gate was blown into fragments, and a deep crater was blasted into the steps at the entrance. Whether as an agent or a female ghost, Shaw had never been a devout believer from start to finish. Without thinking, she took the M134 and swept a burst of fire behind the door.
None of these cultists are good people; the Bodhisattva will send them to the afterlife!
"Cover me!" By the light of the fire, Bella saw the general situation inside the church clearly. She grabbed an M4A1, tucked two pistols into the back of her waistband, and then rushed quickly into the church.
Shaw also dropped the Gatling gun at the right time and used a rifle to cover her charge.
The coordination between the two "people" was quite exquisite. Bella encountered almost no obstruction; taking steps two at a time, she brought out an afterimage as she flew into the church.
The church was in chaos. There were many dead and injured at the main gate and the steps. The corpses were beaten to a pulp, their original appearances completely unrecognizable—all sent off in a wave of "transcendence" by the Bodhisattva. Within a five-meter range behind the door, there were a dozen or so unlucky bastards lying in pools of blood.
Bella looked toward the center of the church. A large amount of dry wood was piled there, flames burning fiercely. A young woman wearing a police uniform was tied to a wooden frame beside it. These crazy cultists wanted to burn the policewoman alive.
The policewoman's situation was very critical. Her uniform was torn in multiple places, and the front of her body had suffered extensive burns.
Bella hesitated no longer. Raising her hand, she fired a Frost Ray at the pyre. The temperature of the flames dropped by more than half instantly. Then she turned and fired two shots, shattering the two glass windows at the front of the main hall. The cold wind from outside poured into the church, blowing everyone askew, and the remaining flames turned into mere flickers.
She leaped up, pushed the wooden frame to the side, and checked the policewoman's breathing. She was still alive, but with burns all over her body, future treatment and life would truly be a big problem.
Unable to look more closely, she took out a tactical knife and quickly cut the ropes binding the policewoman.
"Heathen! Kill her! Kill! Kill! Kill her for me!—" An extremely high-pitched voice sounded in the distance.
Seeing the cultists shouting and charging at her, Bella raised her rifle, pulled the trigger to the end, and unleashed a burst of tu-tu-tu at the crowd.
She didn't bother with shooting the ground or aiming for knees. These people had annihilated their own consciences; they could no longer be considered human.
Bella's marksmanship had always been good, and the distance was close; hitting a group of targets was really not difficult. Within a few breaths, she gunned down over a dozen cultists.
With a swath of people dead, she finally saw the person who had shouted earlier.
Unlike the many cultists in ragged clothes, this woman who was clamoring frantically with a shrill voice wore a pale purple robe. Her collar was very clean, and she even wore a scarf with intricate patterns.
She was very angry about Bella's intrusion. Her triangular eyes held a ruthless glint as she shouted to the surroundings, ordering the cultists to attack, to attack at all costs.
Although the cultists were caught off guard and many had died inside and out, making their formation extremely chaotic, a dozen or so hardcore cultists struggled out of the crowd. Their movements were agile and vigorous, and most of them had guns in their hands.
Although many were old models from thirty years ago, these cultists had scavenged an entire town; their weapons and ammunition were not scarce.
The movie didn't say these bastards had guns!
Bella dodged repeatedly while firing back. She aimed entirely at the cultists holding guns.
Her response couldn't be called wrong, but she hadn't anticipated the opponent's ruthlessness.
The group of cultists used the bodies of their companions beside them as meat shields and fired back without any scruples.
This made things difficult for Bella. Even if she could dodge bullets, the severely burned policewoman beside her definitely couldn't.
When the number of cultists attacking her exceeded thirty, she was completely suppressed.
"Surround her! You few go to the left!"
"You few go to the right!" The shrill-voiced old woman kept shouting commands. Bella wanted to insta-kill her several times, but she stayed in the crowd, surrounded by human meat shields. Without the grenade launcher or shotgun by her side, Bella didn't have a good solution for the moment.
Amidst the da-da-da of gunfire, she dragged the policewoman behind a load-bearing pillar.
Retreating here had a purpose. Tied to a rack five meters away from the two was a little girl in a purple dress. That was 006's adopted daughter, Sharon.
The little girl's face was full of fear, tears in her big eyes. Bella had to rescue the little girl before the cultists decided to go for broke and kill the hostages.
