Chapter 32 - Chapter 32: Body Heat

The sun came up, but the heat didn't.

If anything, the morning light only revealed how bleak our situation was. A thick, grey mist clung to the trees, soaking everything in freezing moisture. My white gown was now a heavy, damp shroud of mud.

"If I lose a toe to frostbite," Sienna chattered, wrapping her arms around herself as we trudged through the underbrush, "I am suing the Council. And you, Cassian. I'm suing you personally for emotional damages and the loss of these Gucci sneakers."

"Noted," Cassian said, not looking back. He was walking point, hacking through a dense thicket with a machete Rook had salvaged from the crash.

"I'm serious," Sienna continued, stepping over a log with the grace of a woman dodging a puddle of acid. "I was promised immunity and a seat at the table. I did not sign up for Survivor: Wilderness Edition."
