Chapter 13 - 013 - The Rhythm of Growth, First Harvest

Lin Yuanfeng began by planting the Vermillion Spirit Rice seeds across the prepared two mu of land. When he finished, he circulated his qi and lifted his hands.

A soft hum filled the air.

The Spirit Rain Technique activated.

Shimmering droplets formed and fell evenly across the two mu of land, covering everything in a thin mist. With the immense amount of pure qi within his dantian—and the purification effect of his Dust-Free Immortal Body—he easily maintained rainfall on a range that would normally exhaust even a Tier 1 spiritual farmer.

But the moment the rain soaked into the soil, something unusual happened.

The land trembled faintly.

Spirit energy surged outward in tiny waves.

The Vermillion Spirit Rice seeds shone with faint red glimmers, sprouting instantly. It was a small phenomenon, subtle enough to be overlooked, yet alarming if ever witnessed. Normally, Vermillion Rice required days to germinate, and only with heavy spiritual nourishment…

But with his Dust-Free Immortal Body, the pure spirit energy in his qi accelerated everything.

He finished the rice field and moved to the remaining one mu of land. Dividing it into four equal portions, he prepared the areas where he intended to place the three formations he had learned into three sections and cultivate different plants used by various sects.

He sowed Qi Nourishing Grass and Spirit Ember Flower seeds into one of the sections.

He performed the Spirit Rain Technique once more.

These seeds reacted more slowly, but faint buds soon began to break the surface of the soil.

After finishing everything, Yuanfeng returned to his room to cultivate.

So much spirit energy had been poured into the land that his reserves were significantly reduced, and he needed to recover.

-----

While he was meditating, the workers from Jin Shang Hall arrived to begin building the ponds and pavilion. Although most worked normally, one sharp-eyed worker quietly investigated the spirit land and attempted to file a report.

Unfortunately for him, Lin Chengshang noticed immediately.

The man found himself watched like a criminal and didn't dare attempt anything further.

Every morning after that, Yuanfeng continued using Spirit Rain on the land—but carefully held back his power. With workers around, he deliberately acted as though he was exhausted after watering only one mu.

Three days later, construction finished exactly on schedule.

The ponds, pavilion, and bridge—designed by his mother—were completed flawlessly.

A worker then took out a strange bottle and walked to the nearby creek. With a single motion, the artifact absorbed enough water to completely fill all the ponds. He returned and released the stored water, filling each pond instantly.

Yuanfeng realized the bottle was a water-collecting treasure.

Afterward, the head worker approached his mother.

"Madam, would you like us to place aquatic spirit plants or spirit fish?"

Before she could answer, Yuanfeng replied calmly,

"No need. I have other plans."

The worker accepted the answer, handed over the completion contract, and left with the team.

Yuanfeng handed his mother twenty spirit stones.

"Mother, buy fifty Tier 1 spirit fish fry and any aquatic plants you like. Father, please escort her."

His mother lit up with excitement and immediately grabbed his father's arm.

Chengshang opened his mouth—

But before a single sound came out, his wife dragged him away like a hostage.

Yuanfeng turned to avoid eye contact, pretending nothing was happening.

A grape suddenly shot through the air and smacked right into Lin Yuanfeng's forehead.

Pak!

"Ouch!!"

He staggered two steps back, clutching his head as his eyes watered.

"F–Father! Why are you throwing things at me?! I'm telling Mother!"

He spun toward his mother, who was walking ahead of them.

"Mother! Father is ...."

But halfway through his complaint, he instinctively glanced back at his father…

…and froze.

Lin Changsheng was calmly flicking an apple into the air with a single hand, spinning it like a hidden weapon waiting to be launched.

His expression was peaceful.

Too peaceful.

Cold sweat instantly drenched Yuanfeng's back.

He straightened like a soldier and raised both hands.

"...I ..I was wrong."

His father smiled warmly.

His mother stifled a laugh knowing what has happened behind her back.

And Yuanfeng quietly re-evaluated whether complaining was worth risking his forehead.

His father smirked like a petty villain who had achieved victory and followed his wife down the path.

Yuanfeng sighed deeply.

His father was terrifying—not because of power, but because of how casually he used it.

Despite the pain, the grape hadn't even left a mark…

That kind of precision could only come from immense experience and control.

After his parents left, Yuanfeng activated the Mist Concealing Qi Formation and returned to the fields.

The Vermillion Spirit Rice had already reached a height of one foot in just three days something a Tier 1 master would need fifteen days to achieve.

Seeing no one around,

"System inventory"

System Inventory :

Gold Card – Skill Upgradation Card

High-Grade Qi Refining Nourishing Pill bottles × 4 (6 retrieved)

High-Grade Tier-1 Artifact – Spirit-Warming Pendant

High-Grade Tier-1 Formation – Earth Spike Formation

White card- Growth Acceleration Card*3

-----

He used the Growth Acceleration Card that was on the screen. It tiny white light particles spread across one mu of rice.

Before his eyes, the stalks grew at a speed visible to the naked eye, reaching full maturity in just 20 breaths of time.

Yuanfeng took a step forward to a mature rice plant, checked it, and plucked a single grain from the vermillion-tinted rice ear and placed it on his tongue. The moment it he swallowed it

WUUUM

A surge of warmth burst through his chest, spreading like a spark thrown into dry oil. His blood roared, racing through his veins in heated waves, and his qi stirred on its own, circulating faster and smoother as if urged by an unseen hand.

A faint burn flowed along his meridians, but it was not painful rather, it was invigorating, like embers awakening a dormant furnace inside him.

Yuanfeng exhaled lightly, eyes brightening."So this is the effect of Vermillion Rice Grain…"

The warmth settled slowly in his dantian, leaving behind a steady, comforting heat that promised stronger vitality with every bite.

Warming, invigorating, and undeniably powerful this grain was no ordinary staple.

After verifying the effects he wasted no time.

He instantly used the Azure Spirit Sword to harvest.

He cut the first stalk of Vermillion Spirit Rice

DING!

[Harvested Vermillion Spirit Rice - +0.1 Farm Points]

Lin Yuanfeng blinked.

"…Points?"

He harvested another.

DING!

[Harvested Vermillion Spirit Rice - +0.1 Farm Points]

Another.

And another.

DING! DING! DING!

The same message popped up for every plant he cut.

DING!

[Harvested Vermillion Spirit Rice - +0.2 Farm Points]

He checked the difference and finds out it was medium grade plant.

"Oh! for a medium grade i get 0.2 and low grade 0.1 points"

He stared blankly for a moment before muttering:

"So I get points for every single plant…? This is literally endless farming income…"

But midway through the harvest, a new prompt appeared.

DING!

[Harvested Vermillion Spirit Rice - Reward Obtained: White Card -Blood and Vitality Card]

[Check the inventory for the rewards from harvest]

Lin Yuanfeng froze on the spot.

"…A card?"

He quickly plucked up the stalk he had just cut, checking it meticulously but it looked completely normal.

So he concluded:

"It's random. If there's no reward, the system gives points as consolation."

He opened the message details.

[Blood and Vitality Card - Upon use, host obtains pure blood and vitality energy suitable for body cultivation.]

His eyes widened.

Blood… and qi energy…

For body refinement?

Memories surfaced.

Body cultivators tempered their flesh and bones using:

demonic beast blood, rare body-forging materials and high-grade medicinal liquids

A Tier 1 body cultivator was already comparable to a Qi Refining expert.

And like Spirit qi cultivation, each tier had low, mid, high sub-realms

with corresponding bodily strength equal to tier-ranked weapons.

Lin Yuanfeng inhaled sharply.

"If I cultivate my body and my spiritual energy at the same time… with my Dust-Free Immortal Body… wouldn't that mean…"

His fingers trembled slightly.

"…I'll be invincible in the same realm. And I might even fight across realms."

Because body cultivators required massive resources.

'With System, Vermillion Spirit Rice that strengthens blood and vitality and my physique purified everything without waste'

"I'd be doing half the work… for twice the results."

An irrepressible smile tugged at his lips.

Encouraged, he continued harvesting everything cleanly and efficiently, separating stalks and seeds before storing them.

By the end:

676 Vermillion Spirit Rice plants harvested

73 Farm Points earned

3 × Blood and Vitality - white Cards obtained

210 catties of Vermillion Rice

Large bundle of stalks

His heart thumped excitedly.

This harvest alone was worth more than most small clans earned in a month.

'Let's check all the new system information and rewards… at night.'

After calming down,

He replanted the freshly obtained seeds after using a seed nourishing technique and used Spirit Rain again.

They sprouted quickly but could not return to full maturity.

Even with abundant spirit qi, plants still needed time to grow.

Unless…

"…unless there is a wood-energy source to accelerate life force."

Pondering the issue, he finally remembered the staff he had received.

He pulled it out and poured all his remaining energy into it.

The staff glowed with a soft green radiance.

A gentle wave of vitality washed across the sprouts, energizing them.

They grew several times faster than normal, enough to match the height of the already-grown section.

Still slower than the system's card, but more natural but highly taxing on the body.

After stabilizing the growth, Yuanfeng collapsed to the ground, breathing heavily and sweating from the rapid qi consumption.

He swallowed a qi nourishing pill and began meditating right there in the field.

Waiting for his parents.

As he cultivated, the energy fluctuations his body emitted seeped quietly into the soil.

Unnoticed by him, the land absorbed everything and subtle changes began to form beneath the surface.

Changes that would only reveal themselves later.
