Chapter 59 - Holding back (59)

Kairo accepted the slander for a bit, but the second the bastard broke his booze—

More like Zoro's booze, same thing. Well, the owner was nice enough to give them another one.

The fight simply wasn't worth it. He wasn't Luffy, they were supposed to lay low for a while, and this is what he would do. He didn't need to focus on such a weak upstart like that guy.

There was nothing he could do to make him crash out.

"No backbone at all, scum like you deserve to die."

As those words left his mouth, in Kairo's eyes Bellamy's image would merge with that of a certain Admiral covered in lava. The area around him seemed to turn to magma, people could be heard fighting, the whole scene becoming a mix of ice, light, and magma.

His body shook a bit, and without being able to hold himself back, Kairo cocked his fist back and punched Bellamy... hard.

Since everyone there hadn't awakened Haki yet, they didn't see the Ryō, nor the Conqueror's coating wrapped around Kairo's fist as he slammed it into the man.

The whole area shook.

Kairo took a deep breath and calmed himself down. Meanwhile, Bellamy shook a bit...

When he was about to bully this "regular" person, he had just had a nightmare, as if he had seen himself being killed. Yes, he saw his own death at the end of this man.

"Get away before I kill you." Kairo grabbed his beer barrels before walking out. He needed to hold himself back, or else he would've one-shotted the bastard. Though it seemed like his desire to beat the man had made him release a Genjutsu that Bellamy got hit by.

Well, womp womp, none of his business.

While Bellamy's crew was laughing, he meanwhile was sweating bullets. He felt like he was going to die. His body seemed to be having phantom sensations. Kairo's Resonance skill was truly a wonderful thing—but what he was wondering right now was how to get stronger.

He wanted to reach Admiral-level strength soon. While his physical power was way above the Strawhats, his system was a mastery system, which meant it only told him what his skill level was with something. And so far, for everything, his skills were like this:

It seemed like hand-to-hand combat, alongside other random skills he learned, didn't show up in this. The first thing he noticed was the percentage for his Tobirama sync went up. Was it because he held back when needed at the bar, or because he grinded his Water Jutsu to such a high level?

So, like, most of his mastery was Yonko Commander-tier—but he could be much stronger than that, or much weaker.

A way to say it like this: if you had the same mastery as Gojo Satoru, would that make you as strong as Gojo Satoru?

Kairo frowned a bit. At first, he thought he was Yonko Second-in-Command tier, but the more he thought about it, the more it felt off. He would need to fight someone on that tier to find out where he actually scaled.

Physically, he was a powerhouse. Even without Haki, he was stronger than the whole crew combined—even if Luffy used his rubber body.

Matter of fact, without Haki and if they could use it, he was still physically superior to them. Granted yeah, he was a Lunarien, but still.

Water Ninjutsu was like his biggest flex. Plus, if he fought someone near water, he could take out someone like Kaido... not because he himself could beat him, but—you see, a Flying Raijin seal at the bottom of the ocean and one on Kaido, and it's GG.

Granted, it's not like Kaido would be an idiot and stand still to allow himself to be tagged. But the fact it was even a possibility spoke to how broken his ability was.

And to think there was a whole village of people like him.

Well, there used to be. From what he could gather from his very fragmented memory, all of the Admirals were there, and from what Nico Robin said, a Buster Call was even called. So it got devious.

Jeez, why would the World Government even want them dead to begin with? Last he checked, his people were peaceful. Like, come on, why would the World Government see them as a threat?

All they had was access to the Abyss, methods to nullify regeneration... methods on how to summon the dead back to fight for them...

Like what was there to be afraid of?

"You can surprisingly control your emotions," Robin said, looking at him.

"It was part of my training," he said calmly.

She nodded. His ninja training sounded harsh. Oh well—she brought herself some new clothing so now she didn't have to wear Nami's clothes. And yay, toilet paper—they were beginning to run out.
