Chapter 45 - Gear second (45)

"You cannot hit me," Crocodile would say. He couldn't be defeated by this runt, he was Crocodile, dammit, and he would be damned before this upstart beat him.

Plus, Luffy probably didn't know Haki, so he was safe.

"Gum-Gum Pistol!" As Luffy launched a powerful punch, his fist would go straight through Crocodile, pulling his fist back.

Crocodile's body would reform.

"How many times do I have to tell you, it's useless to do this?"

"Ahh, he really can't be hit!" Usopp seemed a bit scared.

"It's like he is made of sand," Nami would add. Was this the power of a Devil Fruit? Smoker, meanwhile, simply just watched. At the rate this was going, Luffy wasn't going to win this battle, so he pondered whether or not to throw his weapon at Luffy for him to use.

Luffy would smile.

"My punches really just go straight through you!" Crocodile didn't like how that sounded from Luffy—shit sounded like he expected it.

"Of course they did. You are merely an upstart; you cannot possibly hope to defeat me."

"So this is what a Logia is... you must be like that Smoker guy," Luffy would say, stretching his muscles a bit.

Crocodile would wonder what Luffy was doing.

He would watch as Luffy inhaled a lot of air.

"Gum-Gum Balloon!" He seemed to be taking in a shit-ton of it.

Then, a few seconds later, he would return back to being sneaky. All that air was now flowing in his system.

Luffy would have his legs pretty far apart, as if getting ready for a squat. He would have his left fist placed on the floor as he looked down.

His skin seemed to be turning a pinkish color as smoke began leaving his body.

"I was hoping to use this to beat Kaido's, but you will do." Crocodile felt his anger rise. Was this bastard really going to try out a new technique on him?

Luffy would remember what he saw while in Drum Island when Kairo was meditating—his flames even turned blue. And when he had asked about the process, Luffy decided to apply it to himself. Plus, he was the captain; he wanted to catch up to Kairo strength no matter what. His fists were currently coated in Haki.

He was ready.

"Gear Second!"

Crocodile would raise an eyebrow. What was this dumbass doing?

"Do you expect a mere power-up to cover the gap between us...?"

"Here I come," Luffy would say. Crocodile would blink before—

"Gum-Gum Gatling!"

Before the man could react, thousands of punches landed on his body at the same time. He didn't even get the chance to react; he was getting his guts pounded in.

Though 30% of Luffy's punches went through Crocodile, as the Warlord was sent flying against the wall, Luffy would look at his fist, where his Haki was flickering on and off. It seemed like his control wasn't as good as he thought. Oh well, even if only 70% of his attacks actually managed to leave their mark, he would win this.

Smoker in the cage was confused. How the hell did Strawhat get that strong, and when the fuck did he learn Haki?

"Come on, Luffy, beat his ass!" Usopp was out here cheering him on like no other.

Crocodile, getting out of the debris, would wipe the blood from his lips. He would not be defeated so easily. Luffy didn't care about what this Warlord thought—he was here to beat his ass and that was it.

And thus, Luffy would begin bouncing the man around as if he was his personal punching bag.

Blitzing the man like there was no tomorrow.

"Is that Soru?" Smoker would stand up. The way Luffy moved, this shit looked like the Marine fighting style, part of the Six Basics.

Luffy would stretch both his arms far back—like, very far. His hands managed to punch a hole in the floor and keep going back. He would then spin his hands a bit, and then hurl them forward, striking Crocodile in the chest. And since his hands were spinning the whole time, an additional spinning force was placed on the blow.

"Gum-Gum Rifle!" Crocodile's eyes would go white—holy shit, that actually worked.

"Gum-Gum Bazooka!" Crocodile was slammed so hard into the wall that he felt himself slipping into the afterlife. So this was how death felt like.

Luffy gasped for air a bit; he wasn't used to taking in so much oxygen like that. The smoke around his body would vanish as he got out of Gear Second. This version was a bit different. While originally this technique involved Luffy speeding up the blood flow in all or selected body parts in order to provide them with more oxygen and nutrients—making him much faster and more powerful—this version did it a bit differently.

Luffy himself started it off by inhaling a shit-ton of air, and then using said air to start things off. This variation, while needing an extra step, meant he could stay in this state a while longer. And apart from the hunger he would feel after, it held no downside. He could even combine it with Gear Third, though only in short bursts.

Kairo would appear behind Luffy.

"Seems like you didn't need my help after all."

Luffy would turn his head around.

"Hey Kairo, you back? Did you help Vivi out?"

"Yeah. Got the evidence too. Just gotta send it to the Navy and they can arrest this guy," he would say, shrugging a bit.

"In that case, I know someone who can help." Kairo raised an eyebrow. Who the fuck could Luffy possibly know?

Luffy would point at the cage.

"Smokie!"

"Don't call me that, Strawhat." Okay, so Smoker wasn't happy about his nicknames.

While they weren't paying attention, Crocodile turned into sand and escaped.

"Where'd that Crocodile guy go?" Luffy would say, noticing he was gone.

"He went that way," Kairo would say dryly.

"Cool."

"Are you two not going to chase after him?" Nami would say, looking angry.

"Not really, I want to see what he has planned."

Nami would then look at Luffy.

"Why didn't you stop him?"

"'Cause I was speaking to you." Truly the goofy man.

A/N Crocodile didnt escape, Kairo let him go, he learn about Pluton and wanted to see where Crocodile went for it, he was curious about such a weopon as name sounded familiar to him

Anyway, Kairo wanted to see where Crocy would go.
