Chapter 249: 268. Yu Xiaomen and the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan

Yu Xiaomen had ascended to Titled Douluo years ago, his title—Holy Dragon—sending shockwaves throughout the Douluo Continent. After a millennium, a Titled Douluo bearing the Golden Holy Dragon spirit had once again appeared in this world.

Yu Xiaogang had, of course, heard of this—but he refused to believe it. To accept it meant accepting that while his younger brother stood at the pinnacle of the continent, he himself remained a pathetic level-29 failure. So he chose denial. He numbed himself, erasing the truth from his memory—until today, when the truth stood before him, vivid and undeniable.

Humiliation and self-loathing churned in his chest, threatening to drown him.

He thought of that day, long ago, when Yu Xiaomen had stolen the Golden Dragon Fruit—his one chance to rise above mediocrity. If, back then, he had swallowed it while fleeing, even half-dead, he could have been standing at the peak of Douluo today. The one revered by the clan, the prodigy among dragons—it wouldn't have been that bastard Yu Xiaomen. It would have been him.

If the heavens could grant him just one more Golden Dragon Fruit, he swore he would seize it instantly… but it was too late for dreams.

When the oppressive release of spirit power finally faded and Yu Xiaogang could stand again, Tang San—who had been standing aside watching the spectacle—stepped forward and helped him up with feigned concern.

"Teacher, are you alright?" Tang San asked, "worried," wiping the spilled wine from Yu Xiaogang's face with his sleeve.

"I… I'm fine now," Yu Xiaogang muttered hoarsely.

"Oh, that's good," Tang San said lightly. "By the way, Teacher, who was that man?"

Yu Xiaogang's face stiffened. "Yu Xiaomen," he said flatly. "My brother."

Another variable, Tang San thought darkly. Seeing that Yu Xiaogang clearly didn't wish to speak of the past, he said nothing more. He played the part of the obedient student, then returned to the Shrek lineup, leaving his "teacher" behind—something that cut Yu Xiaogang deeper than any blow.

It was a bitter wound.

When Yu Xiaomen had humiliated him, Tang San—his "beloved disciple," the one he often called his "son by bond rather than blood"—hadn't said a single word in his defense. Not even one. He'd simply stood there, watching like everyone else.

Yu Xiaogang's heart bled.

Yet even through his disappointment, he clung to one truth: Tang San was his last hope. No matter what happened, he had to hold onto that boy—never let go.

Inside, his thoughts seethed: Yu Xiaomen, you think you're great because you're a Golden Holy Dragon? Because you're a Titled Douluo? Wait and see. My disciple Tang San has two spirits—eighteen spirit rings! When he rises, he'll surpass you. I may have achieved nothing in this life, but he is like my own son—he'll honor me, fight for me, and one day, he'll bring me vengeance!

Meanwhile, Yu Xiaomen strolled through Heaven Dou City, basking in praise from every direction. The very people who once had lingered around Yu Xiaogang to laugh or bully him were now flattering him instead.

"Young Master," one of the sect disciples, Yu Xiaoke, said with a cruel grin, "in your place, I'd have an idea. Why not insult Yu Xiaogang even more? He's stuck at level 29 anyway—let's cripple him further, drop him to level 19. That'd be fitting!"

"Level 19? That's nothing," another, Yu Xiaoren, retorted. "I say we destroy his spirit altogether. Make him worse than useless! Let him crawl in filth like a worm squirming through dung—that's the life he deserves."

Yu Xiaomen simply waved a hand and sighed, feigning virtue. "Ah, no. He was heartless back then, yes, but I can't afford to be unkind. He is, after all, still my elder brother." He sighed wistfully. "Who could've guessed—the once-proud Young Master Xiaogang, awakening only a pig-like martial soul? Life is full of ironies."

Later, Yu Xiaomen arrived at a beautiful garden estate in Heaven Dou City—one of his personal properties. He waved lazily. "Wait here," he ordered his men. "Without my leave, none of you are to enter."

"Yes, Young Master," they replied in unison.

He passed through winding stone paths and rock gardens until a pavilion came into view. Inside stood a solitary man.

Yu Xiaomen hastened forward, his steps quick and respectful. But before he could speak, the man turned and said calmly,

"You've risen high—now the heir to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. How does it feel?"

Yu Xiaomen lowered his head. "Honored One, it feels intoxicating."

"Yu Yuanzhen values you greatly," the man—Huo Qiqiang—said with a faint smile. "He's already made you the Sect's young master. I suspect within two years he'll abdicate entirely, leaving the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect to you. Tell me—how do you view your family's sect?"

Yu Xiaomen's tone hardened. "Back then, my father ignored my mother's death. The entire sect turned a blind eye while Yu Xiaogang and his mother bullied me. Their respect now means nothing—it's only because of the power and potential I wield. If, at age six, my martial spirit awakening hadn't revealed its worth, my fate would have been no better than any other bastard child of the clan. The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect killed my mother—and that, I will never forget."

He then looked to Huo Qiqiang. "Everything I am today—all of it—is thanks to you. My strengthened spirit, the Golden Dragon Fruit that transformed my talent—it all came from your hand. I owe my entire life to you, Master."

Huo Qiqiang smiled in satisfaction, patting his shoulder. "I'm glad you haven't forgotten. Let me give you some good news: death is not absolute. As long as the soul remains, resurrection is possible. Your mother never entered the cycle of reincarnation. If you continue to serve me well, one day, you will see her again."

"Yes, Honored One," Yu Xiaomen said, eyes shining. "I will complete every task you give me—no matter what."

When Huo Qiqiang left, Yu Xiaomen finally exited the pavilion, emotion swirling in his chest.

Outside the estate, Yu Xiaoren approached respectfully. "Young Master, Sect Master Ning requests your presence."

Yu Xiaomen blinked. "Ning Fengzhi? Did he say why?"

"Sect Master Ning said he has a matter to discuss. He's also invited Sect Master Huo of the Body Sect," Yu Xiaoren reported.

Yu Xiaomen's expression sharpened slightly. "I see."
