Chapter 5: The Clear Sky Twin Stars, The Blue Tyrant Five Prodigies
At the center of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect's Awakening Hall was a vast plaza filled with rows of spectators. At the front, upon a raised seat before the Awakening Altar, sat the sect master Yu Yuanzhen. Flanking him were four elders of the sect—on his left, Yu Luoguan and Yu Luomian; on his right, Yu Luotang and Yu Luohuang. Below them were ranks of powerful Soul Sages and Soul Emperors from the sect, seated in solemn silence.
This ceremony was the grandest in recent decades, for among the children undergoing their Martial Soul awakening were five direct descendants of the sect—including Yu Xiaogang and Yu Xiaomen. Unlike the Clear Sky Sect, which still prospered after losing Tang Chen thanks to its "Clear Sky Twin Stars," the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect had been declining steadily, relying solely on Yu Yuanzhen—the only Titled Douluo among them—to preserve their standing as one of the Upper Three Sects.
Thus, this year's awakening drew exceptional attention, especially that of the master's own son—Yu Xiaogang. His mother, Wang Bilian, was from a collateral branch but had a rare innate soul power of level eight. The combination of Yu Yuanzhen's unmatched talent and her strong bloodline made Yu Xiaogang the most promising heir—perhaps even destined to surpass his father. As for Yu Xiaomen, his mother Yun Niang wasn't even a true soul master, merely a low-born concubine.
Yu Yuanzhen's gaze swept over the group of children standing in line, finally fixing upon Yu Xiaogang at the center. The boy stood tall, chest puffed, hands clasped behind his back, radiating confidence while the other children fidgeted nervously.
Seeing his son's composure, Yu Yuanzhen smiled slightly and called, "Xiaogang, come here." Then his brows furrowed as his eyes shifted toward the timid child standing nearby. Though he disliked Yu Xiaomen's timid disposition, the boy was still his son. His tone cooled as he said, "Xiaomen, you come too."
"Yes, Father," the two boys replied together, stepping forward respectfully.
Yu Yuanzhen picked Yu Xiaogang up and patted his cropped hair. "Are you confident about this awakening ceremony?" he asked kindly.
Instead of answering directly, Yu Xiaogang countered, "Father, what was your innate soul power when you awakened your martial soul?"
"Mine was at nine and a half levels—just short of full innate soul power," Yu Yuanzhen said proudly.
Yu Xiaogang's lips curved upward in a confident smirk. "Then my innate soul power must be full."
Yu Yuanzhen laughed heartily, stroking his beard. "Hahaha! Good, good! I look forward to seeing a genius born with full innate soul power in our Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon lineage!"
Then his expression turned faintly cold as he looked to Yu Xiaomen. "And you? Are you confident?"
Yu Xiaomen hesitated, stammering softly, "Father, I… I'll try my best."
Yu Yuanzhen sighed. "Forget it. I have little hope for you. As long as your innate soul power reaches six or higher, I'll make you a core disciple. If you can become a Soul Saint one day, that will be enough."
Beside him, Yu Xiaogang's eyes gleamed slyly. He was already plotting to have the servants seize Yu Xiaomen's resources after the ceremony so he could monopolize everything for himself.
Yu Yuanzhen turned back to his elder son. "Xiaogang, would you like to awaken first or last?"
Yu Xiaogang smiled proudly. "Father, the protagonist always appears last. Let everyone else awaken first, then I'll make my entrance."
"Hahaha, excellent. Let's save the best for last," Yu Yuanzhen announced. "Begin the ceremony. Start with the affiliated sect disciples, then the outer disciples. My two sons will awaken last."
"Yes, Sect Master!" the officiator replied.
The Awakening Ceremony began at once.
"Chen Xuan, martial soul: Earth Tyrant Dragon. Innate soul power: level four."
"Lu Ming, martial soul: Bipedal Flying Dragon. Innate soul power: level five."
"Le Kai, martial soul: Flying Lizard. Innate soul power: level three."
One by one, beams of awakening light shimmered, and the affiliated sect disciples revealed their martial souls. Most displayed fair potential—anyone reaching level five innate soul power was considered a young genius. Some children cheered with excitement, while others wept silently and stepped down, their martial souls too weak to fulfill their dreams.
When the affiliated disciples were done, it was time for the outer disciples.
"Yu Xiaotian, martial soul: Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. Innate soul power: level six."
"Yu Xiaoshan, martial soul: Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. Innate soul power: level five."
"Yu Xiaoming, martial soul: Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. Innate soul power: level six."
The results of the outer disciples were notably stronger, their pure Blue Lightning bloodline granting them higher aptitude than the affiliated sect children. Yet, Elder Yu Luoguan shook his head and sighed softly. "The Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon lineage is truly weakening with each generation."
Yu Luomian added, "The outer disciples aren't what matter. What we must watch are the direct descendants."
Stroking his beard, Yu Luotang chuckled. "Hopefully my son will surprise this old man today."
Yu Luohuang said solemnly, "Let's hope all five of our young ones awaken well. If the Clear Sky Sect boasts twin stars, perhaps our Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect can rise anew with five prodigies."
"Five Prodigies of the Blue Tyrant?" Yu Yuanzhen laughed softly. "Surely not all of our children can exceed rank eight innate soul power. If even two of them do, I'll be satisfied. Two are enough for our own 'twin stars.'"
Hearing the elder's hopeful words, Yu Xiaogang sneered inwardly. He knew exactly who the "Five Prodigies" referred to, but when his gaze slid toward Yu Xiaomen, he scoffed silently. You? A prodigy? Don't make me laugh.
Finally, only five children remained—the sect's direct heirs. All attention turned toward them, especially Yu Xiaogang standing confidently at center stage. These five represented the sect's future.
"Next, Yu Xiaoren!"
The first was Yu Luotang's son. As he stepped into the awakening circle, lightning flashed and a dragon's shadow coiled around him. As expected, his martial soul was the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon. His innate soul power reached level eight.
Yu Luotang nodded, muttering, "Level eight—excellent! He'll surely become a Soul Douluo, maybe even a Titled Douluo one day."
Elder Yu Luomian gave a rueful smile. "Hard indeed. Don't forget, I was born with level eight as well."
"Next, Yu Xiaozhu!"
The son of Grand Elder Yu Luoguan stepped up. His martial soul was also the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon, but his innate soul power was slightly lower.
"Only seven and a half levels…" Yu Luoguan frowned, disappointment flickering across his face. "It seems my bloodline is weakening after all."
"Next, Yu Xiaoke!"
Yu Luomian's son, Yu Xiaoke, awakened next—also a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon, with innate soul power of level eight. Quite talented, though not enough to become a legend.
