Chapter 32: Sleeping with Ma Xiaotao (For Real)
"With Ye Chen joining the Tang Sect, the revival can indeed move faster... but you didn't have to pick this exact day to recruit him," Bei Bei muttered under his breath, clearly disappointed.
A genius was just a genius. In his eyes, no level of talent could outweigh their anniversary.
The Tang Sect's revival could wait—love was priceless.
Even if Ye Chen was extraordinary, he could've been recruited another time. Why today, of all days?
Three years ago to the day, he and Tang Ya had met for the first time outside Heaven Dou City.
Fate had brought them together—that date mattered more to him than his own birthday.
Still, there was some time left in the evening. Maybe they could still have dinner together.
Bei Bei opened his mouth to speak, but Tang Ya cut him off before he could say a word.
"Enough. I'm tired. If there's nothing else, I'm going to bed. Don't bother me."
With a flick of her hand, Tang Ya turned and walked away quickly.
"Xiao Ya, I…"
Bei Bei reached out, but Tang Ya had already vanished into the night using Ghost Shadow Perplexing Step.
"Damn it!! That bastard Ye Chen!!"
Bei Bei's fists clenched tight, his eyes burning with hate toward Ye Chen.
If not for that guy, he would have spent the evening dining with Tang Ya—laughing, reminiscing—maybe even taking their relationship to the next level.
But no, Ye Chen had ruined everything!
Normally, he would have been thrilled that such a prodigy had joined their Tang Sect.
But now, all he felt was jealousy and resentment.
Especially the way Tang Ya's eyes sparkled with admiration whenever she mentioned Ye Chen... it drove him insane.
Sure, Tang Ya might only admire Ye Chen.
But he was a man—and Tang Ya was his girlfriend.
For his woman to look at another man with such admiration—how could he not be angry?
"No... I need to keep a close eye on Xiao Ya. I can't let her keep hanging around that Ye Chen!"
Bei Bei made up his mind.
Something told him that if Tang Ya and Ye Chen kept getting closer, something irreversible might happen...
...
...
...
After parting ways with Tang Ya, Ye Chen returned to the inner courtyard.
He decided to skip cultivation with Wang Dong tonight.
He needed to check on Ma Xiaotao—her condition required attention.
Before, when she avoided training, the evil fire inside her grew slowly—enough that even Xu Sanshi could help suppress it.
But now she trained hard every day. The buildup of evil fire was much faster, and she needed purging every few days.
Ye Chen had to make sure she was alright—before it consumed her.
...
Familiar with the path, Ye Chen stepped into the inner court and arrived at Ma Xiaotao's quarters.
He thought she'd be asleep by now, but the lights in the hall were still on.
"Sister Xiaotao?"
He pushed the door open gently.
Sure enough, Ma Xiaotao wasn't asleep.
She sat in the hall, chin resting on one hand, staring blankly ahead.
A glass of red wine and several empty bottles sat beside her—she'd clearly had a few.
"Hmm? You're back?"
Hearing him, Ma Xiaotao raised an eyebrow, her tone a mix of sleepy surprise and lazy indifference.
Her flushed cheeks made her look even softer—she was definitely tipsy.
"Sister Xiaotao, you've been drinking again. It's not good for your health to drink at night," Ye Chen said, sitting down beside her—though keeping a respectful distance.
What he meant was that alcohol would affect her rest and leave her groggy tomorrow.
Even though Soul Masters were resilient, their spirits weren't; lack of sleep would leave anyone tired and irritable.
"Sit closer. I'm not going to eat you," she said with mock annoyance, eyes narrowing in faint displeasure.
That look—half stern, half seductive—combined with her flushed face, was lethal.
"Okay, okay..."
Ye Chen moved closer obediently.
"Good boy~"
Without warning, Ma Xiaotao wrapped her arm around his head, pressing him into her chest.
The moment their bodies touched, she closed her eyes in satisfaction, feeling the cold spiritual aura flowing from within Ye Chen's body.
His frigid energy naturally countered her inner evil fire. As it seeped out through their contact, her burning aura began to calm and dissipate.
"Mmm... that feels nice~"
Her lips curved into a light, contented smile. The evil fire within her slowly subsided, leaving her body light and her mind relaxed.
With the tension lifting, drowsiness swept over her.
"Uh... Sister Xiaotao..."
Ye Chen's muffled voice came from where his face was buried.
Ma Xiaotao, ready for bed, wore only a thin silk nightgown—and nothing underneath.
The scent was intoxicating, but the position was... stifling.
When she loosened her grip, Ye Chen lifted his head.
The sudden movement made Ma Xiaotao tilt off balance and almost fall backward.
"Sister Xiaotao, don't just fall asleep like that..."
He quickly caught her in his arms.
The contact between them deepened—the warmth, the softness—it was impossible to ignore.
"Mmm... take me to my room..." she mumbled sleepily, eyes already half closed.
"Alright, alright. Honestly, how much did you drink..."
Ye Chen sighed helplessly, slipping one arm beneath her knees and lifting her gently.
His hand inevitably brushed against bare skin, and he could see the blush on Ma Xiaotao's ears deepen until they seemed to steam.
Pretending not to notice, he carried her quickly to the bedroom and laid her softly on her bed.
"Sister Xiaotao, time to rest," he said, patting her lightly and trying to free himself from her arms.
"Mmm... rest..." she mumbled hazily, and before he could react, she gave a small tug—pulling him under the blanket with her.
"Sister Xiaotao, I—"
Before he could even finish, the blanket came down over both of them.
Ye Chen: …
...
...
...
The next morning.
Ye Chen woke groggily to a familiar, gentle scent.
The sleep had been so comfortable he'd lost track of time.
As he sat up, he realized he was still on Ma Xiaotao's bed.
At least she hadn't thrown him out.
Her room was spotless—she must've tidied up earlier.
Ye Chen lifted the blanket—and his hand brushed against something silky.
Looking down, he saw Ma Xiaotao's satin nightgown sprawled beside him.
"Honestly, she couldn't even pick up her clothes..."
He picked it up, turning it over in his hands. Smooth, cool, delicate... the texture was amazing.
"It must feel really nice to wear," Ye Chen thought to himself.
Click.
Just then, the door creaked open and Ma Xiaotao poked her head in. "Xiao Chen, wake up~ I made your favo—"
Her words froze mid-sentence.
