Chapter 28 - The God of the Arena (Final)

Danilo was extremely furious. Being stoned like that was not only painful, but also deeply humiliating. In Azeroth, punishments such as being burned alive or publicly stoned were reserved for those considered morally corrupt—thieves, adulterers, and the like.

Although he was now in a different place, one had to take into account that only twenty hours earlier he had been in Azeroth, where he had lived for several centuries. As such, the habits and customs of that world were still deeply ingrained in him.

The rage and humiliation were so intense that he decided to become more serious. After all, if a tiger does not show its claws from time to time, it will be mistaken for a domestic kitten.

From inside the crater, he waited for his regeneration. Blessed infinite regeneration.

He aimed at the visible gorilla and threw, and for the first time used the Sky Slayer's Teleport ability, appearing directly in front of the gorilla.

When the others below tried to hurl stones to bring him down, Danilo was faster. He pulled the Sky Slayer out of the gorilla's eye and aimed at the cluster of monsters.

A wolf was in the middle of the united squad, right in the center of the clustered formations. Stones were thrown, but before they could hit him, he teleported to the center.

"Everyone, stop!" he shouted loudly, using the skill Voice of the Monarch.

Everyone in the middle of the arena stopped.

What Danilo did not realize was that the skill affected even the nearest spectators. Wherever the voice could be heard, the Hero Arena had microphones focused on the battlefield. They had been designed to amplify the voices of the competitors—the gladiators.

Unfortunately, the Voice of the Monarch had no effect through amplifiers. It only influenced those who heard it directly.

Thus, the scene that unfolded was this: all the monsters stopped after the protagonist gave the order. The effect was so incredible that they did not even notice he was speaking a foreign language (they believed it to be from some random planet in Soba).

A large portion of the audience also froze, especially the weaker ones, who did not even have time to shout in excitement upon seeing the protagonist recover from what seemed like certain death.

When they were affected by his ability, what followed was that most shouted in excitement, while a portion… remained motionless in silence, as if they did not care.

The monsters stopped.

The aerial ones began to fall like meteors, crashing loudly as they hit the ground.

The scene was simply unique.

Danilo changed the Sky Slayer, transforming it into Stormbreaker, and walked toward the gorillas, ignoring three and leaving the wolves and other monsters behind. This was a matter solely between him and the gorillas.

He looked at Stormbreaker and decided to store it away.

He reached a place where there was a pile of stones and observed the number of remaining monsters. There were still thousands, but since he had decided to act more seriously, it would be much easier and less troublesome.

He picked up a large stone and aimed at a random gorilla.

Just as he was about to throw it, he sensed danger coming from above and quickly dodged.

A violet sword passed by him, almost grazing his body. The only thought that crossed his mind was:

"What the hell is this? This wasn't in the script."

He then observed the unknown attacker who had cowardly struck without warning.

It was a monster about one meter tall that, judging by its wings, stinger, and bone structure, closely resembled a giant mosquito.

Soon after, more creatures fell from above, totaling approximately twenty.

"What the hell is this?" Danilo thought. "This obviously wasn't part of the script."

Then, a notification appeared:

[Mission: Ascension – Abyss (Chaos) – Update]

Moments earlier…

At the top of the Hero Arena, the kings watched the scene with interest.

The amusement on the faces of the foreign races was on full display, without any need to hide it.

"It's over now," said a six-meter-tall gorilla as he looked at the smaller gorillas that had done the dirty work in the arena.

Unlike the stone gorillas, this one was a king-level gorilla of the Golden Blood Gorilla race. He manipulated the Law of Gold, able to turn it into weapons or armor.

Monsters, unlike humans who changed classes, returned to their origins when they evolved. The higher a monster's rank, the more its bloodline reverted to that of the primordial era.

Both the gorilla and the mosquito would be completely ordinary if not for the fact that they were descendants of beings who had been fortunate enough to survive since the beginning of the Great Change, more commonly known as the arrival of the Celestial Tower.

When everyone thought the outcome was already decided, with no more surprises, the humans in the group had already resigned themselves, lamenting the fall of a truly promising seed.

Suddenly, a spear shot out of the crater. It seemed the human wanted to put up one last fight before falling.

Then, another surprise: the human teleported. A skill he had not demonstrated before. Apparently, he was smart enough to keep it hidden.

The question everyone had from the beginning was: what was his talent? What career had he chosen? And how in the world had he managed to challenge an army of thousands? Never in the City of Chaos or in the world of Soba had something like this happened. It was unprecedented.

Just when they thought things could not get any worse, they discovered that the human truly possessed teleportation. That was terrifying.

Adding his immense combat skill to the incredible weapon capable of changing forms, the combination resulted in something no member of the alien races wanted to witness.

They watched him quickly pull the spear from the gorilla's eye and throw it downward. A clever move—diving into the middle of the herd to avoid the stones hurled by the gorillas.

Then the worst happened. The human shouted. Everyone seemed to… understand. Though it was a foreign language, due to the marvel of the Celestial Domain, everyone comprehended it.

All the monsters in the arena, without exception, stopped.

Domain.

A domain-type ability.

"The human has a domain ability," said Centipede, a twenty-meter-long, king-level being of the Immortal Centipede race. SS-rank talent: Immortality, allowing near-infinite blood regeneration.

"That's impossible. Is that his talent, or is it his profession?" This time, a blood-red beetle spoke. It was about one and a half meters tall, with a peculiar glass-like body of crystalline red. Its talent, Diamond Body, granted nearly absolute defense, reducing damage taken by ninety percent.

"I don't know how, but one thing is certain: this human hid his abilities very well. If the strategy hadn't changed, the small creatures below would never have discovered it, and that would have made us act recklessly," replied the hooded woman with cat tails, who had spoken earlier with the mosquito.

"That makes him dangerous, with malicious intent, violating the regulations imposed by our City of Chaos council," she concluded.

"Can you all stop this bullshit?"

This time, one of the four humans spoke. He was the most recent member of the City of Chaos Council.

In the City of Chaos, once someone reached king level, they gained the possibility of entering the council. Another requirement was to defeat an existing member. These two challenges, once completed, granted the champion the chance to join the council.

The council controlled ninety percent of the resources of the City of Chaos and its surroundings. The City of Chaos spanned approximately two million square kilometers, larger than most countries on Earth and in the world of Soba.

The space within the Celestial Domain, from the fifth floor onward, was nearly infinite, allowing an entire galaxy to integrate.

The number of council members had been decreed since the founding of the City of Chaos and could not be exceeded. If a new king were born, he could, if he wished, challenge one of the old members in a battle to the death, without any interference.

If the challenger won, he would take the old member's place. The defeated would not only die but lose everything. The force he controlled could lose the council's protection and fall in ranking, giving way to the new force.

Alternatively, the new king could join an existing force or create a new one elsewhere.

These forces founded by council members were called Supreme Forces. They were exempt from taxes, received more resources, and enjoyed far greater privileges.

"You say we should stop. Are you siding with this malicious creature of dubious intentions?" the beetle asked in an amused tone.

Of everyone present, the one he hated most was this human: Juarez Cândido. His S-rank talent was Anti-Armor. Each strike pierced through defenses, directly affecting flesh and organs.

The member Juarez had killed before joining the council was his own father, who possessed an identical talent.

Before his death, the Beetle race had two council members and enormous influence. The father's death severely impacted the clan's power. That was why, whenever he could, the beetle provoked Juarez Cândido.

"This creature is evil. If it is evil, then it must die. I will do it myself."

The mosquito spoke before Juarez could respond to the provocation.

In the next instant, he charged toward the arena at absurd speed, aiming directly at Danilo.

With the mosquito's sudden action, everyone realized his true intention: to kill Danilo and seize his weapon, and, with luck, other treasures as well.

Thus, repeatedly, everyone attacked to kill him. Even the humans joined in.

Although they sympathized with him, the old saying went, "Any man who carries the javelin is guilty." And for some reason, this saying exists.

And for some reason, he was dangerous. He would likely be difficult to control. He had the potential to surpass all of them.

And once he did, what would he do to them? Would he spare them for being of the same race?

Thus, even though they admired his potential, the best choice was to eradicate him to avoid future problems.

And that was the safest bet. If he were smarter, he would have avoided the spotlight longer and only emerged when he had enough strength to resist the oppression of the powerful.

All of this was his fault.

They advanced toward the arena, but when they were about to enter its space, they felt something strange, as if they were stepping into a separate dimension.

Others might have ignored it, but they were experienced kings, and their instincts were sharper than most. They trusted them deeply.

The mosquito attacked, but Danilo dodged at the last moment, and everyone landed heavily.

Hello, dear readers.

I sincerely apologize for my absence and for the delay in updates. Unfortunately, there is no simple explanation. During this period, I lost my mobile phone — which was the only device I used to write and publish this work. To make matters worse, the phone's screen had already been almost unusable for quite some time, and it finally stopped working completely at the exact moment I requested a contract. That was extremely discouraging for me.

At the moment, I am also facing financial difficulties that prevent me from buying a new phone, even a very basic one. My living conditions are quite limited, and this has directly affected the progress of the story. I sincerely apologize to my readers for the disappointment caused, and also to the WebNovel team.

I would also like to use this message to inform you of an important update to the main character's profile.

The protagonist's talent, as a Patriarch, previously allowed him only to infinitely evolve the talents of his descendants. Although powerful, I felt that this effect alone was not impactful enough for the development of the story. Therefore, the talent has been improved.

From now on, the protagonist is not only able to evolve talents, but also to share and use the talents of all his descendants and partners, cumulatively. As a result, he no longer depends exclusively on Nzinga Afonso's (Sharing) talent.

However, to maintain balance in the story and avoid excessive power — due to the anti-magic passive present in his incomparable profession — the protagonist will be unable to use talents that rely on elemental attributes such as Light or other purely magical attributes.

I sincerely thank everyone for your patience and continued support. I hope to resume regular updates as soon as possible.

Thank you very much.
