Chapter 66 - Chapter 66: Fortune Lies in Danger

Chapter 66: Fortune Lies in Danger

"Can't wait any longer?" Xiao Yan looked puzzled.

"Do you think, with my history with the Yao Clan, I'd willingly hand over an opportunity to that little girl? Even if it's just a fragment of the flame?"

The Yin Yang Evil Saint smiled cryptically.

"Knowing your personality, definitely not," Xiao Yan nodded. This man was vengeful, temperamental, and definitely not someone who would take humiliation lightly.

"That fragment of the Yin Yang Dual Flame indeed contains a trace of the Yin Yang Saint Flame's essence, but I made some modifications to it it only contains the essence of the Yang Flame."

A sinister, enigmatic smile spread across the Evil Saint's face.

"When you've refined the Yin Yang Saint Flame, that little girl will serve as the perfect opportunity for you to experience the profound wonders of my Yin Yang Saint Manual and the flame itself."

"Uh…" Xiao Yan's face turned serious. "That's not something a gentleman would do."

"Are you a gentleman? Deep down, you're a shameless rascal, and that's why I chose you as my successor." The Evil Saint shot him a glance.

Hearing this, Xiao Yan's previously serious expression gave way to a sly grin.

"Sharp judgment!"

"Kehehe." The Evil Saint chuckled darkly.

"Kehehe." Xiao Yan echoed him, grinning.

Moments later, Xiao Yan sat cross legged on a flat stone slab within the ancient ruins. Before him, two mystical fish one black, one white swam gracefully in the air, emanating a natural aura of balance and harmony.

With a light tap of his storage ring, Xiao Yan produced several precious treasures.

Refining a Heavenly Flame was an extremely perilous endeavor. Even though this Yin Yang Saint Flame had been significantly diminished by the Evil Saint, it still harbored terrifying, destructive power capable of annihilating a Dou Zun expert.

Fortunately, the flame had been modified with the Evil Saint's soul imprint, making it relatively docile toward Xiao Yan.

Additionally, Xiao Yan's preparations were impeccable. Coming from the Xiao Clan meant access to vast resources, and his arsenal of treasures reflected that.

A true "pay to win" cultivator always had the edge.

First, he retrieved a half meter tall jade bottle and carefully poured its contents into a circular trench he had dug into the ground.

The liquid was crystal clear, but the air around it instantly dropped in temperature, frost forming on the ground as a bone chilling cold spread.

This was Ice Spirit Cold Spring, a rare liquid that formed in subterranean ice veins. Though precious, it was considered a common resource in the Xiao Clan due to their abundant reserves.

Next, Xiao Yan took out a crimson gem the size of a ping pong ball and swallowed it.

This was Essence Gathering Crystal, a highly valuable resource extracted from advanced Na Stones, far surpassing the Ice Spirit Cold Spring in rarity. Yet, in the Xiao Clan, such luxuries were common thanks to their vast reserves.

Finally, Xiao Yan opened another jade bottle, releasing a streak of brilliant light that shot out instantly. With quick reflexes, he caught it in his hand.

This was a Peak Tier 7 Pill, the Greenblood Gold Pill a legendary elixir specifically designed to aid in refining Heavenly Flames. Though only a Tier 7 pill, its effects rivaled those of ordinary Tier 8 pills.

The pill was a masterpiece of Yao Lao, who spared no effort or expense in supporting his treasured disciple.

Once these preparations were complete, Xiao Yan turned his attention to the two mystical fish before him. Though weakened, the Yin Yang Saint Flame still radiated intense heat, threatening to distort the surrounding space.

With a gulp, Xiao Yan swallowed the Greenblood Gold Pill.

As the pill dissolved, a soothing, jade green energy coursed through his body, coating his meridians and internal organs in a protective layer.

Moments later, streams of translucent green energy seeped from his pores, forming an emerald barrier around his body.

The barrier crystallized into a gleaming, jade green armor, encasing Xiao Yan completely even his eyes were shielded.

"It's time," Xiao Yan muttered, taking a deep breath to steady his nerves.

Despite his thorough preparations, his heart still raced. After all, refining a Heavenly Flame was akin to swallowing a live grenade it was a gamble between life and death.

"Enough hesitation," he thought, his eyes hardening.

If he couldn't overcome this trial despite all his advantages, he had no right to dream of becoming a Dou Emperor. He was no stranger to taking risks his previous life had been a series of calculated sacrifices. Wealth, power, status, even relationships all were earned through bold decisions.

To achieve greatness, one must dare to gamble everything.

Without further delay, he reached out and seized the two mystical fish, their heat causing his jade green armor to sizzle and crack.

The Yin Yang Saint Flame, sensing restraint, began thrashing violently. Its temperature spiked, threatening to melt everything in its path.

But Xiao Yan gritted his teeth, letting out a cold snort before swallowing both fish in one gulp.

The moment the Yin Yang Saint Flame entered his body, Xiao Yan's face turned ghastly pale. Even with the Greenblood Gold Pill's protection, the searing heat coursing through his meridians brought excruciating pain.

But instead of yielding, Xiao Yan's eyes glinted with determination. Closing his eyes, he focused his mind inward.

Inside his chaotic body, the black and white flames swirled wildly like twin whirlpools of destruction. Yet Xiao Yan's Dou Qi, enhanced by his Dou Huang cultivation level and formidable spiritual strength, managed to suppress their chaos.

"No matter how unruly you are, today you will bow to me!" Xiao Yan roared inwardly, driving the flames through his meridians.

Here, the true power of the Greenblood Gold Pill revealed itself. The pill's jade green energy tirelessly repaired Xiao Yan's scorched meridians, mitigating the destructive effects of the flame.

Even so, the pain was nearly unbearable, his nerves feeling as though they were being burned alive.

Within the ancient ruins, all was silent except for the occasional muffled groans escaping from Xiao Yan's lips.

Hovering nearby, the Yin Yang Evil Saint observed with an approving smile.

"Endure this, and you'll step into the ranks of true powerhouses. The path of a mere genius ends here now begins the journey of becoming a true strongman."
