Chapter 42: Gu Yue: I Warn You—Do Not Insult Me Again!

"Gu Yue, your turn to introduce yourself."

With Huo Yun'er still absent, Gu Yue was now the only one who hadn't spoken.

Her spirit power was originally Rank 26, but seeing Jiang Chen enter the room—and the strange stares from everyone around—she cursed inwardly. Show-off. Thousands of years old and still acting like a child.

Releasing a faint trace of her sealed power, her spirit rank surged to 29.

"Gu Yue. Martial Soul: Elementalist. Rank 29. Goal: to become the strongest."

A collective gasp rippled through the classroom.

What kind of monsters were these two?!

With Jiang Chen and Gu Yue sitting in the same class, half the students wondered if they'd walked into the wrong academy.

Long Hengxu's eyes gleamed with pure satisfaction. Two prodigies like this guaranteed Eastsea Academy's victory in the inter-academy competition. Not only that, they'd motivate the others—and humble those overconfident few.

There's always a higher sky, he thought proudly.

The students, however, exchanged silent glances. Motivation? More like humiliation!

"Don't be disheartened," Long Hengxu encouraged. "You're all handpicked geniuses, the pride of Eastsea Academy. Even compared to others, you are children of heaven! Believe in yourselves!"

He nodded firmly. "Now, as for Class President, we'll have Jiang Chen take that role for now. Any objections?"

The students shook their heads immediately. "No objections!"

"Director!" Jiang Chen raised his hand, serious and straight-faced.

Class President? Who had time for that nonsense?

"I think this position would be far more suitable for a girl—perhaps classmate Gu Yue."

Long Hengxu nodded without hesitation. "Very well. Gu Yue, you'll serve as Class President."

Gu Yue opened her mouth to refuse—but just then, a telepathic voice echoed in her mind.

"The Class President title will make it easier for you to approach the Golden Dragon King."

Her lips tightened, and she swallowed her protest.

Glaring daggers at Jiang Chen's back, she gave a stiff nod.

All for the Dragon God! she told herself silently.

The first day of class ended early—mostly introductions and orientations. Long Hengxu had other things to worry about, like how to convince Wu Zhangkong to come back before the female teachers staged a rebellion.

As soon as the teacher left, the classroom turned lively.

Nearly everyone surrounded Tang Wulin and Jiang Chen's seats.

Everyone wanted to befriend the Divine Craftsman-to-be Tang Wulin—or at least, get close to him.

Even if he never reached that level, becoming a Saint Craftsman was guaranteed—and there were only a few of those in the entire continent.

Future mechas, battle armors, and beyond—all forged by people like him.

"Tang Wulin, you're amazing! Can we be friends?"

"Your Blue Silver Grass can't be ordinary, right? Is it the legendary Blue Silver Emperor?"

"Tang Wulin, want to visit my house during break? We have a shadowcat that does backflips!"

Jiang Chen smirked. He's really become popular now.

Clearly, the golden Night Dragon he'd given him had changed the boy's early struggles completely.

Still, that debt would have to be repaid someday.

He didn't need Tang Wulin to pay him back himself.

His father's repayment would do just fine.

Jiang Chen silently stepped out of the room, grabbing Gu Yue—whose face darkened as she watched everyone flocking to Tang Wulin—and led her outside.

"What are you doing?" she demanded, eyes wary.

Something about this soul beast traitor, this insubordinate fool, set her on edge.

Especially after what he'd dared to do—gazing at her with such shameless intent.

To think he wanted to mate with her?

Disgusting!

What was he compared to her?

Had this been during the peak of the Dragon Clan, a creature like him wouldn't even qualify to lie beneath her throne!

If she weren't restraining herself for the sake of her grand plan, she'd skewer him on the spot.

Jiang Chen only raised his hands casually. "Relax. I just wanted to tell you—don't rush after the Golden Dragon King's power. You'll get what you want in time. But if you attract the attention of a certain God King, you'll regret it."

He, for one, had no desire to be noticed by Tang San yet. Lest that Sea God's damned trident decide to test his skull.

Gu Yue's expression turned furious. Her small fists clenched tightly. "You're looking down on me!"

Jiang Chen blinked. "What? How on earth did you—"

He sighed helplessly. "How could I dare look down on the wise and mighty Silver Dragon King, ruler of soul beasts and future Dragon God?"

Gu Yue instinctively reached for the Silver Dragon Spear at her back—only to freeze, remembering she'd already given it to this very bastard.

"You dare use that tone with me?!" she snapped. "Don't think that just because Di Tian speaks well of you, I'll tolerate your insolence. I act as I choose!"

"Alright, alright…" Jiang Chen rubbed his temples. Conversations with her were exhausting.

Why was dealing with the Silver Dragon King such a hassle? He didn't remember anyone else being this touchy.

Something was definitely wrong here.

But the truth was simple—had Jiang Chen been human, Gu Yue wouldn't even bother speaking to him. Humanity was doomed in her eyes.

But he was a soul beast.

And to her, as the Silver Dragon King, all soul beasts owed her allegiance. Her commands were law.

For him to defy her was an insult—an open challenge to her authority.

Holding herself back from impaling him on the spot, she said coldly, "Then let's make a bet."

"A bet?"

"If I win, you will follow me unconditionally. Go east when I say east, west when I say west—and if I order you to die, you will die without complaint!"

"And if you lose?"

"I don't lose." The proud half-Silver Dragon King lifted her chin arrogantly.

Even if the bet failed, she'd simply overpower him afterward. Losing was not in her vocabulary.

Jiang Chen's brow twitched. "Just saying—what if you do lose?"

"Then I will grant you one chance to court me," she said matter-of-factly.

Jiang Chen was speechless.

He didn't even know where to start complaining.

What a vain, self-absorbed dragon!
