Chapter 82: Killing Yang Wushuang
If he fought back, even if he could escape, the spirit masters he had brought from his clan would all die here.
Worse still, he would drag down the other three allied clans with him.
Yang Wudi felt utterly helpless.
"Your Highness, Commander Ge," Titan said quickly, "please hear me out. I'm willing to vouch for the Breaking Clan's innocence—those two princes' deaths had absolutely nothing to do with Old Goat.
Since Yang Wushuang is hiding here in Heaven Dou City, we, the four of us, are willing to personally kill him to prove our loyalty!"
At such a critical moment, hesitation meant annihilation.
"Old Gorilla…" Yang Wudi's eyes turned red.
"Old Goat, say no more," Titan shouted. "Since Yang Wushuang chose this path, he is our enemy now.
Old Crane, Old Rhino—will you fight by my side to end this?"
At that point, there was no turning back. Without Yang Wushuang's death, this situation could not be resolved.
And since that man had become a hound for the Spirit Hall, he had to die.
He was, after all, Tang Hao's loyal mutt—reason enough for his death.
"We'll fight once more, brothers. Let's cleanse our ranks of traitors!" Old Rhino agreed immediately.
Old Crane, however, turned his gaze toward Yang Wudi.
No matter what, Yang Wushuang was his younger brother.
Yang Wudi cupped his fists to his three friends and said loudly, "My Breaking Clan has produced a traitor who has brought disgrace upon us. Today, I shall personally give an answer to the royal family of Heaven Dou.
Your Highness, please grant us this chance!"
Prince Xue Xing's face remained icy, but inside, he was beaming.
Everything had played out exactly as Dugu Feng had predicted.
Push the four single-attribute clans to the brink, and to save themselves, they would move against Yang Wushuang of their own accord.
Of course, Titan, Bai He, and Niu Gao already hated the Spirit Hall to the bone, which made things even easier.
The Dugu family was truly cunning—using "a borrowed blade" to strike for them.
Though the Spirit Hall had never officially acknowledged Yang Wushuang's defection, and neither had the Breaking Clan, everyone in the spirit master world knew it as fact.
If the Heaven Dou Empire executed him directly, it would embarrass the Spirit Hall and risk open conflict.
Prince Xue Xing had no desire to reach that point.
The Dugu Clan had known of Yang Wushuang's existence long ago but waited patiently for this precise moment—to exploit the four clans' gathering and let others do the killing for them.
A masterful move indeed.
"Boom!"
Suddenly, a deafening explosion resounded through the city, echoing into every ear.
The clash sounded like steel smashing against stone—a blade against a shield.
"That must be the Royal Academy's Dean Bai fighting Yang Wushuang," Commander Ge Long said sharply. "If Clan Chief Yang intends to purge his clan, then act now. Everyone else—drop your weapons and remain inside the Strength Clan compound!"
Titan and the others no longer hesitated.
Titan, Bai He, Niu Gao, and Yang Wudi all sprang toward the direction of the blast.
Ge Long didn't rush. He ensured the remaining clan members lowered their weapons and then stationed guards around them.
Once secure, he led his men after the others—if Yang Wudi turned, he would order every one of them slaughtered.
At the battle site.
What had once been a humble apothecary was now a wreck of shattered stone and splintered beams.
Four figures clashed fiercely amid the ruins.
At the center was a tall, gaunt man wielding a black spear radiating a murderous aura that hummed with each motion.
Facing him was a burly man whose weapon was a radiant golden cauldron adorned with seven stars—it exuded immense spiritual pressure.
This was Bai Baoshan, one of the Education Committee members of the Heaven Dou Royal Academy, his martial soul the Heavenly Star Furnace.
His Heavenly Star Furnace was what kept Yang Wushuang's spear at bay.
Behind him, an elderly man in black robes continuously cast out binding vines to aid Bai Baoshan—Zhi Lin, another member of the Royal Academy's Education Committee.
And slithering nearby was a massive Emerald-Scaled Serpent—it was Elder Snake from the Dugu Clan.
His primary role was to suppress Yang Wushuang's toxins.
Some distance away, Dugu Feng, Elder Scorpion, and Ye Clan Patriarch Ye Qingxin observed the battlefield closely.
"Yang Wushuang is cautious," Dugu Feng remarked. "He planted invisible, scentless toxins around his pharmacy. That's how he detected our presence early."
Elder Scorpion smirked indifferently. "Detected or not—can he escape Heaven Dou City now?"
With the Dugu family's people involved, Yang Wushuang's poison was useless.
Only his Soul-Breaking Spear remained as a weapon.
Though Yang Wushuang's spirit power placed him at the Contra level, his strength fell short of his brother's. His attack power wasn't anywhere near Title Douluo level.
Under the coordinated assault of Bai Baoshan, Zhi Lin, and Elder Snake, there was nowhere for him to run.
Dugu Feng wasn't worried about Yang Wushuang himself.
What concerned him were Qian Renxue's two bodyguards—both Titled Douluo.
Would they intervene to save him?
It was unlikely.
This was Heaven Dou City—three top experts were in the vicinity, including Dugu Bo. If those guards acted rashly, they would expose themselves.
Besides, the entire operation had been conducted with utmost secrecy.
Qian Renxue, disguised as Crown Prince Xue Qinghe, likely learned of it only now—far too late to respond.
Inside the Crown Prince's residence.
The study was in chaos.
Qian Renxue's usual calm and elegant demeanor had vanished.
"Your Highness," the Thorn Dolphin Douluo reported urgently, "Prince Xue Xing and Commander Ge Long suddenly mobilized the heavy-armored corps and surrounded the Strength Clan compound.
I sensed something wrong and immediately notified Yang Wushuang to escape, but it was too late.
Bai Baoshan, Zhi Lin, and Dugu Snake have already encircled him!
How did they discover him? He's been hiding perfectly in that apothecary under Spirit Hall control for years, never leaving!"
He sounded truly baffled.
Qian Renxue's brow furrowed deeply. "The real question is—should we save Yang Wushuang?"
"Your command, my lady," Thorn Blood said through clenched teeth. "She Long is also in the city. The two of us together could probably rescue him."
Qian Renxue rose, her face pale with fury.
"Prince Xue Xing, Ge Long, the Royal Academy, the Dugu Clan, the Wind Sword Sect… quite the coalition, isn't it?
And I knew nothing at all."
Her hands clenched into fists—her anger seething.
"But what if this is a trap?
If my teacher brought Sword Douluo, Bone Douluo, and even Dugu Bo nearby, your intervention could expose our hidden power.
A single misstep could ruin everything.
Go inform Salas immediately—he must intervene publicly, deny the charge that Yang Wushuang killed the princes, and rescue him if possible.
Let's hope we're not too late."
After issuing her orders, Qian Renxue stepped out of the study. She intended to see firsthand who had orchestrated this entire affair.
Someone of Prince Xue Xing's caliber could never have located Yang Wushuang.
So who did?
Her curiosity only deepened.
Moments later, on the battlefield, Dugu Feng's pupils contracted sharply.
He saw her.
Xu Qinghe—Qian Renxue in disguise—had arrived.
Her face was calm, her bearing regal, flanked by ten guards as she approached the battle's center step by step.
Such boldness!
Dugu Feng's heart tensed in warning.
