Chapter 66: The Killing God Domain—Within Reach!
"Come on, then! Over here!"
Dugu Feng shouted again.
The Dark Gold Three-Headed Bat King dove swiftly through the air, circling once before returning to cling to the cliff wall. It screeched twice sharply, as if replying, You come here!
The smaller bats echoed their leader's cries, circling the cliff in a chaotic spiral.
"Hah!"
Dugu Feng laughed aloud.
These bats clearly had no intention of straying too far from their nest—and likely feared the heat radiating from the blood pool below.
If only his soul power were greater—if he had already reached the Soul King level—he would've sent a volley of Jade Phosphor Twelve Fingers to knock all of them from the air one by one.
But it hardly mattered. As long as they didn't provoke him, he had no interest in them.
Even if they did attack, covered as he was in venom, they'd suffer far more than he would.
Ignoring the creatures, Dugu Feng pressed onward.
An hour passed. The bats vanished entirely from sight.
What came next was the second trial of the Road of Hell—the appearance of the Ten-Headed Fierce Sun Serpent.
"Guaaa!"
A strange guttural hiss echoed ahead.
In the distance slithered a colossal serpent, ten meters long. Its head and back bulged with nine bright scarlet protuberances, each resembling a red mushroom cap.
A grotesque beast indeed.
Dugu Feng could have easily flown past, but this serpent was useful to him.
Its inner core and venom alike were treasures to a poison master.
"Let's see whose poison reigns supreme," he murmured.
The Jade Dragon Serpents beneath him surged forward.
From the opposite side, the second serpent darted in, encircling the Ten-Headed Fierce Sun Serpent.
Judging by size alone, Dugu Feng's companions were no smaller—and unlike their foe, they could fly.
The nearly phantasmal serpent forms closed in swiftly, shrouded in emerald light.
"Guaaa!!"
The Ten-Headed Serpent reared up, spewing a torrent of burning crimson haze.
Its stench of fire-poison spread quickly through the air.
Dugu Feng countered by launching dozens of Jade Phosphor finger strikes. The violet energy exploded, forming clouds of shimmering toxic mist.
Within that haze, his serpents flickered and appeared beside the giant snake.
Three against one—two of them airborne.
Dugu Feng smirked. You're finished.
With a dull boom, the Ten-Headed Serpent twisted violently on the narrow path, trying to evade.
But its massive body made it an easy target.
One of its bulges was shredded open by the serpents' fangs, venom dripping into the wound.
Let's see whose poison prevails.
At the same time, Dugu Feng infused both his Jade Phosphor Violet Poison and Jade Phosphor Crimson Poison into the assault.
The serpent's body convulsed.
Cornered, realizing its fate, the creature unleashed its most fearsome technique.
Its nine fleshy nodules burst open—streams of gold-red liquid erupting into the air, merging into one blazing sphere the size of a fist.
Its inner core.
"So, let's see whose core is stronger—yours or mine!"
Dugu Feng shouted, spitting out his two Dan Pearls.
Each expanded to the size of a fist and shot forward simultaneously.
The green spheres collided with the golden-red core.
For a moment, all three orbs floated motionless midair, forming a perfect triangle.
Dugu Feng drew in a deep breath, eyes flashing purple as he directed his serpents.
The Jade Dragon Serpents struck again, their bodies twining around the monstrous enemy in the chaos below.
Then—a chance.
His serpent lunged from behind, striking the serpent's spine.
"Scorpion Claws!"
Dugu Feng shouted as two massive, gleaming pincers materialized from his arms.
With a vicious swing, the three-meter-long claws snapped downward.
The shriek of scale meeting steel filled the air.
The Fierce Sun Serpent's scales were incredibly hard; even his strike couldn't cleave it in half.
And the use of his external spirit bone quickly drained his soul power. He grimaced at the effort.
Then—realization struck.
The pincers' tips bore razor-sharp spikes, already embedded into the serpent's flesh. Tiny holes had formed across its surface.
Perfect.
Through those wounds, threads of azure-purple venom seeped into the serpent's body.
"Guahhh—!"
The serpent shrieked, thrashing in agony.
Its massive frame writhed violently, rearing half its body upright as jets of scarlet poison flame erupted from its mouths.
Dugu Feng leapt back, landing on the second Jade Dragon Serpent, ascending rapidly to safety.
Below, his other serpent tightened its coils around their foe, tearing relentlessly.
"This is its final struggle," Dugu Feng observed coldly.
Above, his Dan Pearls pressed the advantage.
His toxic fusion—Jade Phosphor Violet and Crimson combined with the dragons' venom—spread rapidly through the beast.
With a thunderous crash, the serpent collapsed, its upper body smashing into the ground.
The golden-red inner core attempted to retreat back into its body, clearly desperate to release healing energy to purge the poison.
But Dugu Feng was faster.
His Dan Pearls blocked its path, trapping the core midair.
Below, the Fierce Sun Serpent gave a final quiver before falling still.
Dugu Feng grinned. "Seems my poison wins after all."
He watched the corpse with satisfaction.
Without his serpents and Dan Pearls, victory would have been far harder. The three of them together had done it.
Glancing at the fallen creature, he said softly, "A bit unfair to bully your kind with my own snakes… but I won't waste good materials."
He beckoned, and the golden-red core flew into his palm.
Swallowing it seemed tempting—the immense energy almost calling him.
He recalled that Tang San had gifted such a core to Ma Hongjun, who used it as the foundation for his seventh spirit ring.
The power within was immense—too dangerous for his regular body to absorb.
Suppressing the urge, he stored the core safely within his soul guide.
Then he turned to dismember the serpent's carcass.
The meat, the gall, every part of a powerful serpent like this was precious.
After restoring some of his soul power, Dugu Feng used his massive claws to carve the body neatly, storing each piece away with care.
After rewarding his Jade Dragon Serpents with refined energy from the Dan Pearl, he pressed onward.
Now, only the third trial remained.
That final stage consisted of searing heat and the blood pool's evil energy attempting to invade the body.
But in Dugu Feng, the killing intent had already been purified—it was true, untainted slaughter aura.
Which meant the third trial was all but conquered.
The Killing God Domain was now within reach.
Standing atop his Jade Dragon Serpent, exhilaration burned within him as he flew forward once more.
