Chapter 42 - Chapter 42: The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan

Chapter 42: The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan

Heaven Dou Imperial City.

Spirit Hall's branch hall.

Salas stood there, trembling in shock as he watched the close and casual manner between Bibi Dong and Ruo Ling.

The sudden arrival of the Pope herself already had him overwhelmed with excitement—but to see her arrive with a handsome young boy…

Could it be… the Pope has taken a liking to pretty faces?

Salas felt cold sweat running down his back, not even daring to lift his gaze properly inside the hall.

"Your Excellency, the clothing you requested has arrived," came a woman's voice from outside.

A young cleric walked in, carrying a neatly folded outfit.

"What's this?" Ruo Ling asked curiously.

After leaving the Sunset Forest, Bibi Dong hadn't gone straight to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan. She had first brought him to the Spirit Hall branch in Heaven Dou City.

"Were you planning to go to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan dressed like that?" Bibi Dong snapped faintly, glaring at him.

Ruo Ling blinked, then looked down at himself.

Despite being Spirit Hall's Holy Son, he disliked pompous robes. He usually wore simple clothes—clean but plain.

He didn't look bad, but "ordinary" wasn't quite fit for the occasion.

Taking the offered clothes from the cleric, he nodded, walking into the adjoining room to change.

Three minutes later, he stepped out.

Bibi Dong's eyes lit up.

He was dressed in a black formal long-coat with silver buttons, matching leather boots, and a crisp white shirt underneath—like a nobleman's young heir.

His silver hair and scarlet eyes, rare even across the continent, gave him an aura both elegant and mysterious.

"How does it look, Teacher?" Ruo Ling asked with a small smirk, clearly satisfied with his reflection.

"Not bad," Bibi Dong replied with a nod, her gaze softening slightly.

She turned toward Salas. "Salas, our visit to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan is to remain absolutely confidential."

"Understood! The matter concerning Your Holiness and… this young lord will never be spoken of!" Salas said quickly, bowing low.

Bibi Dong gave a slight nod of approval and said nothing more. Taking Ruo Ling's hand, she led him out of the hall.

Once outside, she changed into simple traveler's attire—the Pope's golden robes were far too conspicuous.

No one could know of their covert negotiation with the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

As they walked down the city streets, Ruo Ling's gaze caught a small shop window nearby.

Displayed inside was a black top hat—sleek and perfectly stylish.

"Teacher! I'll be right back; I want to grab something," Ruo Ling said, eyes brightening as he hurried into the store.

Bibi Dong looked after him curiously but didn't stop him.

Ten minutes later, Ruo Ling returned.

Now, on his head rested the same black top hat. A single monocle adorned his right eye, and a pair of white gloves covered his hands.

Bibi Dong blinked, momentarily speechless.

"Xiao Ling, what exactly are you wearing?"

"Doesn't Teacher think it looks cool?" Ruo Ling grinned.

Her lips twitched, but she said nothing.

Ruo Ling turned toward the shop window, studying his reflection.

Black coat, top hat, monocle, gloves.

He suddenly remembered a novel he had read in his previous life—his current look was exactly like the protagonist's.

Well… minus the glass monocle detail.

Call me the Fool, Ruo Ling thought inwardly with amusement.

It had already been ten years since he'd come to the Douluo Continent. The memories of his past life were beginning to blur.

...

The Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan.

Sect Master Ning Fengzhi was going through the latest internal reports when hurried footsteps echoed down the hall.

The doors burst open, and an elder rushed in, panting heavily.

"Sect Master—bad news!"

"What's the matter, Third Elder?" Ning Fengzhi asked with a frown.

"The… the Pope of Spirit Hall is here!" the man stammered.

"What?" Ning Fengzhi's pupils shrank sharply.

Outwardly, the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan maintained polite relations with Spirit Hall, but in truth, both sides watched each other with quiet suspicion.

The last time he'd met Bibi Dong was during her coronation ceremony years ago, and they'd exchanged only a few formal words. Why had she suddenly come here now?

"Summon Uncle Jian and Uncle Gu," Ning Fengzhi ordered after a brief pause. "We'll meet this Pope together."

He had to prepare for the worst.

...

"Your Holiness, Pope Bibi Dong, visiting in person—this humble Ning is honored indeed," Ning Fengzhi said with a controlled smile as they met in the reception hall.

Ruo Ling and Bibi Dong had been waiting patiently for some time.

Ning Fengzhi entered with Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo at his sides.

At a glance, he recognized Bibi Dong—unchanged from the day of her ascension, regal and untouchable.

But his gaze soon shifted to the youth beside her.

"It's been a long time, Sect Master Ning," Bibi Dong said warmly, standing to greet them. "I hope you don't mind my unannounced visit."

"How could I? It's an honor for Your Holiness to grace our humble sect," Ning Fengzhi replied with a courteous bow before tilting his head slightly. "May I ask what matter brings the Pope to our gates today?"

"There are a few matters I wish to discuss—something I hope Sect Master Ning can assist with," she said, turning gracefully toward Ruo Ling.

"This is my disciple, the Holy Son of Spirit Hall, Ruo Ling."

At her words, Ruo Ling felt three sharp gazes lock onto him instantly.

He bowed slightly, voice calm and respectful. "Junior Ruo Ling greets Sect Master Ning, and greetings to Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo as well."

Ning Fengzhi studied him intently.

He could immediately sense the youth's spiritual pressure—about the level of a high-ranking Soul Elder, yet no older than thirteen or fourteen.

Such talent was terrifying. No young member within the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan could compare.

He couldn't help but think of his own daughter—brilliant in potential, but too lazy and disinterested in cultivation, barely past level twenty.

"Young friend Ruo Ling, to have reached such a realm at your age—truly remarkable," Ning Fengzhi said. "But may I ask, Your Holiness, what exactly has brought you here?"

Although Ruo Ling's aptitude intrigued him, surely the Pope wouldn't visit just for her disciple's sake.

Perhaps this was simply an excuse to broaden the boy's experience.

Yet Bibi Dong only smiled faintly and looked toward Ruo Ling.

Ruo Ling stepped forward with composed elegance. "Sect Master Ning, in truth, it was I who asked my teacher to accompany me here."

Ning Fengzhi lifted a brow.

"I have long admired the famed Split Mind Control Technique of your honorable sect," Ruo Ling continued. "My teacher graciously brought me here to learn more about it."

Ning Fengzhi blinked in surprise. The Pope of Spirit Hall, visiting personally over a secret technique?

His eyes flickered subtly toward Ruo Ling again. Clearly, the Pope held this disciple in extremely high regard.

After a few seconds of silence, Ning Fengzhi finally smiled, though politely guarded.

"Young friend must be joking. The Split Mind Control Technique is our Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Clan's most guarded secret. How could it be passed to outsiders so easily?"

Behind him, Sword Douluo and Bone Douluo's expressions hardened, their vigilance rising instantly.

Spirit Hall's power was notorious—if Bibi Dong intended to force the matter, even the two of them combined might not be enough to hold her off.

Their gazes met briefly, both filled with quiet tension as they stared at the woman who was both angel and demon—the Pope of Spirit Hall herself.
