Chapter 76: Finally Bountied
At night, Luo Han and the other three sat around the campfire, eating and chatting.
"Tomorrow… we'll be leav… ing. I'm actually… kind of reluctant… to go," Sister Shao said, one hand holding a wine glass, the other gripping a large chicken steak. Her mouth was full of meat, and her words were mumbled and unclear.
"Uh! Sister Shao, you could finish chewing before you talk," Luo Han said, shifting away from her with a look of mild disgust.
Sister Shao shot Luo Han a glance and continued devouring her food.
So annoying! Though she didn't say it out loud, Luo Han read it clearly in her eyes.
Seriously, I wonder which bastard ended up lucky—or rather, unlucky—enough to catch Sister Shao's eye.
Thinking of this, Luo Han recalled someone once saying that Sister Shao's beloved was part of the Roger Pirates. Who was it again?
"Sister Shao, who exactly from the Roger Pirates is your man?" Luo Han asked curiously, looking at her in hopes of an answer.
"Little brother! I already told you, you don't stand a chance," Sister Shao replied casually, clearly brushing him off.
Uh… Seeing she wasn't willing to talk, Luo Han didn't press the matter.
But now that he thought about it, with how often he called her Sister Shao, Luo Han recalled a certain memory from the anime—when Luffy first arrived at Sabaody Archipelago and went to find Rayleigh. There had been a violent bar owner.
"Could it have been Sister Shao? I think she was called Auntie Shao and lived with Rayleigh!!"
Luo Han finally remembered. Back when he was watching the anime, Auntie Shao had said something that stuck with him: "My man is a hundred times stronger than Luffy!" That line had made quite an impression.
He looked again at Sister Shao. She had already finished her wine and was now gripping two giant chicken steaks, mouth gleaming with grease.
…
Finally understood why Rayleigh ended up selling himself for money. Just couldn't afford her! Sister Shao was intense. Luo Han was impressed.
"What's wrong, Brother Luo Han?" Sister Shao asked, confused, noticing Luo Han staring at her.
"Nothing! Go ahead,"
Luo Han waved it off, then joined in the meat feast—it was, after all, their last night.
The banquet went on until Luo Han was completely into it, drinking tons of wine with Whitebeard. He didn't wake up until noon the next day.
Rubbing his eyes, Luo Han got up and exhaled to clear his head. He saw the crew moving kitchen equipment.
"Get all the kitchenware onto the ship, be careful with it. Don't break anything."
The head chef was giving instructions and would call out when someone moved too fast.
"Where's Cole?" Luo Han looked around and didn't see him, so he asked the chef, "Chef! Have you seen Cole?"
"Ah… Lord Luo Han, I think Lord Cole went hunting for a giant rooster," the chef replied, pointing toward the island's forest.
Luo Han nodded, looking toward the woods. From time to time, he could hear pitiful cries. Maybe Cole had caught that unlucky bird.
He looked at his greasy hands and mouth, then glanced at the busy crew. It looked like things would take a while, he thought.
He flew up into the air and headed for the shore. Once on the white beach, he focused, and a ball of seawater floated into his control.
After a quick rinse, Luo Han returned to the camp. The rest had finished moving supplies, and the twenty giant roosters Cole had hunted were being processed and marinated under the chef's orders.
"We're setting sail, you bastards!" Whitebeard shouted dramatically from the bow.
Luo Han also arrived at the bow. With a thought, he lifted the two pirate ships and sent them flying toward the coastline.
Splash! Splash! Soon, the ships were sailing again after two months. The sound of waves being parted filled the air.
Luo Han could almost feel the ships' joy. "Could this be the legendary ship spirits?"
…
"Boss Luo Han! Boss Cole! Your bounty posters are here!" Tucker ran toward them, waving two posters as he shouted to Luo Han and Cole, who were lying on the bow's deck.
"Boss! Here you go!!!" Tucker handed one to Luo Han, his hand shaking, voice filled with excitement.
Luo Han took the poster and stared at his image, a bit dazed. "Finally fooled them, huh?"
Cole leaned over curiously to see his own bounty.
"Beast King Cole – Bounty: 400 million Berries." Luo Han chuckled.
That's quite high for a first bounty. The photo must have been taken during his first fight with Zephyr. He looked half-beast in it. Makes sense they called him Beastman, Luo Han thought.
As for his own bounty, Luo Han looked at the picture and touched his short crew cut—it was a bit prickly. He'd never really cared about his appearance before, but the guy in the photo did look kind of cheerful and energetic.
But the title left Luo Han speechless.
"Pirate Luo Han – Bounty: 300 million Berries."
"Sigh! Not even a cool nickname. I could've accepted something like 'Handsome Luo Han'… Whatever, pirate is pirate. It's not wrong, anyway."
"Boss Cole's bounty is higher than yours! 400 million Berries, that's amazing!" Tucker looked at Cole, eyes shining with admiration.
This guy better not be falling for Cole! Luo Han narrowed his eyes at Tucker. I'm your number one boss, dammit.
Tucker suddenly shivered and looked back at Luo Han, remembering something.
He immediately shouted, "Boss Luo Han! The navy's so unfair! How could they slash your bounty so much? You should be at least equal to Boss Cole! Don't worry! Next time we'll kill more marines so your bounty goes up."
After blurting all that out, Tucker looked expectantly at Luo Han.
Ugh! Luo Han facepalmed. Ignoring this idiot now. Do I even care about my bounty? You totally don't get your superior. Just stay my subordinate forever.
"Alright! Got it," Luo Han said, waving him off.
"Don't worry, Han bro! You can now fight at full power. Your next bounty will definitely catch up to mine," Cole said carefully.
I really don't care about the bounty! Luo Han wanted to yell, but seeing Cole's earnest face, he figured it wasn't worth explaining.
He just lay down, pretending to sleep. Cole fell silent too, sitting on the deck, thinking about dinner plans.
Meanwhile, Luo Han was analyzing the World Government's next move.
"First of all, the World Government has likely figured out the connection between me, Cole, and the Mind-Mind Fruit. Which means Uncle Kate and Uncle Witt are now in their sights."
"That means the World Government will probably search for Ring Tree Island next, to find out everything about the Mind-Mind Fruit—who ate it, or if anyone did at all, or…?"
In any case, if the World Government finds it, Ring Tree Island will be in danger. Thinking of this made Luo Han restless. He stood up and began pacing on the deck.
"What's wrong, Han bro?" Cole asked curiously, noticing Luo Han's anxious look.
"Nothing! Just thinking about some things." Luo Han snapped out of it and didn't explain—there was no point. It would only make Cole worry.
He sat back down, lost in thought.
"No use worrying now. Rocks would never let me and Cole leave. If we try to run, the retaliation will be brutal—some islands have already been made examples of."
Luo Han didn't dare cross Rocks' bottom line lightly.
