Chapter 72: Psychokinesis Mode
Standing at the ship's edge, gazing up at the white clouds, Luo Han furrowed his brow. This is harder than I thought.
The idea of transmitting his physical power into his psychokinesis wasn't working as intended. It felt like there was no real connection between his body and the psychokinetic field around him.
Luo Han brooded for a moment… then suddenly—Wait… that's it!
If I want to transmit force, there has to be contact! The problem is I've been forming my psychokinesis like flowing water, circling around me—but never touching my body. How can I transfer power if it's not even in contact?
He tried again.
This time, Luo Han first merged psychokinesis into his body, then used the excess to envelop himself in a tight-fitting layer—like a flowing robe of energy. It resembled Naruto's Nine-Tails Chakra Mode.
He then attempted to channel his physical strength using his mind, guiding it through his spiritual sense and into the psychokinesis.
Yes! Luo Han's eyes lit up. It worked! With the strength of his physical body now flowing into the psychokinesis, it felt like his body and the power around it had become one.
He no longer felt the pull of gravity—he floated weightlessly in midair, moving not by willful control but by thought alone, as effortlessly as manipulating telekinesis itself.
This… this is just like Rocks' Armament Haki technique!
Rocks had always surrounded himself with a transparent field of Armament Haki that allowed him to fly at incredible speed. Luo Han's current state felt very similar.
But there was still something he didn't understand: How did Rocks maintain that state for so long? Using Haki should drain stamina, right? Yet from Ring Tree Island all the way to Bot Island, he never once turned it off.
Still, Luo Han wasn't going to overthink it now.
He soared into the sky, marveling at the feeling.
In a blink—woosh!—he vanished from where he stood, reappearing a kilometer away in the air.
So fast!
The moment he thought of being somewhere, he was already there. It felt like his body had become pure telekinetic energy—untouched by gravity or air resistance.
Combining this with his Bullet Time ability? Luo Han was now certain—within the range of his spiritual perception, no one would be able to hit him again. His movement and reaction speed simply outclassed any attack.
This is the kind of absolute advantage that only speed can bring. Nothing else compares.
Luo Han burst into laughter. The pressure that had weighed on him all this time evaporated.
Even if I can't beat you, I can outrun you.
In fact, maybe he could win now. He lifted his hand and looked at the psychokinesis fused to it. It now had form—a translucent, flowing blue light around his body. It wasn't invisible anymore. It had gained substance, thanks to the integration of physical power.
He clenched his fist. The solidity of the psychokinesis had increased by a full level. He felt confident that he could now withstand attacks from Zephyr's Armament Haki.
Feels like I'm wearing a flowing suit of armor.
He grinned. Let's call this the Psychokinesis Armor Mode—from now on, it'll be my own "chakra mode."
Now he really wanted to test it out—with Whitebeard.
Excited by the idea, Luo Han flew back down, eager to challenge him.
But when he saw Whitebeard passed out on the ground, drunk and clutching a wine jug even in his sleep, he hesitated.
Better not. If he lashes out in a drunken rage and shatters the mountains—or worse, kills someone—that'd be a problem.
Luo Han decided instead to explore the island interior and test his new strength on some wild animals.
…
Within the island's forest, Luo Han kept his Psychokinesis Armor Mode active, hovering about 100 meters above the ground. With his spiritual perception, the entire area lit up in his mind.
What a fascinating world, Luo Han marveled.
He sensed all kinds of strange creatures below—but the most common by far were those giant chickens Whitebeard mentioned. They were evenly distributed throughout the forest.
Just thinking of how tasty that chicken had been last night made Luo Han's eyes sparkle.
Spotting one that had strayed from its group, he dove down toward it.
He perched on a branch, watching the 50-meter-tall creature below. Its talons were sharp, its beak pointed—clearly predatory.
Wait… aren't chickens supposed to eat bugs? Luo Han frowned. Guess I've been misled by farm life…
Though the giant chicken was grazing now, nibbling on grass.
Well, you eat plants—I eat you. No hard feelings.
Luo Han's eyes gleamed. In his mind, the chicken was already a sizzling plate of meat.
Cluck!
As Luo Han leapt from the tree, the chicken noticed him and struck—snapping at him with its massive beak.
Boom!
A giant tree, hundreds of meters tall and ten meters thick, was snapped in half like a twig.
Luo Han gawked. What the hell?!
He could see it clearly: the chicken's beak had been coated in Armament Haki.
"Cluck! Cluck-cluck!!"
Undeterred, the bird spread its wings and charged again, feet pounding the earth.
This time, Luo Han didn't dodge. He countered the beak strike with a punch—his fist clad in psychokinesis reinforced by physical strength.
Boom!
With one hit, the chicken's beak shattered. Its skull cracked open and it collapsed.
That was satisfying!
Luo Han had always restrained his physical strength, hiding it from the World Government. He relied on pure psychokinesis in battle. That constant suppression had been suffocating.
Now, with his power fully channeled through psychokinesis, he could finally unleash it freely. It was like breaking off invisible shackles.
He grabbed the dead chicken with telekinesis and moved on, quickly taking down four more.
Eventually, a whole group of angry chickens clucked and chased him back.
Laughing, Luo Han deactivated his Psychokinesis Armor Mode and returned to the mountaintop.
Most of the crew was awake now.
Luo Han handed the five chickens to the head chef and asked him to prep them for breakfast.
The chef nodded and got to work.
Luo Han walked over to Cole , who was still fast asleep. This guy sleeps so much since eating that Devil Fruit—especially after meals.
Must be a side effect of the Kun Kun Fruit, Luo Han mused.
Stepping over him, Luo Han reached the cliff's edge and looked down at the coastline.
With the tide receding and daylight returning, the mist had reverted to how it looked yesterday—and the sea serpents were nowhere to be seen.
What a strange island.
But now, he was beginning to understand why no humans lived here.
Outside, you had those creepy, venomous-looking sea snakes. Inside, you had giant chickens that knew Armament Haki.
Anyone without Haki wouldn't survive here. And how many people in the world had truly mastered Haki?
Those who discovered this island probably had no choice but to leave, Luo Han concluded.
