Chapter 9 - Consequences of Chaos

| While Ethan was unconscious... |

Peter Parker, better known as the famous friend of the neighborhood, spider man, was doing one of his regular patrols through Queens.

Unfortunately, even though he was on vacation, he couldn't fully enjoy them because he would still be Spider-Man for most of his days. In other words, it was as if he were a corporate slave of a company that doesn't care about his well-being and only his results.

It was a very strange and specific comparison, but it was the best Peter could think of.

But luckily for you, the day was relatively normal today. Some robberies here and there, an old lady who had her bag stolen by some bandit, a shooting between gangs that he helped to contain, and so on.

Normal things for the Amazing spider man.

And one of the main reasons why there is no really serious crime these days is that his villains had mysteriously stopped making their regular attacks against him and New York. They had all simply disappeared and this bothered Peter, because it usually meant that they were preparing something big.

The last time they were inactive for a long time, Peter had to fight a new formation of the Sinister Sextet and almost drowned in the waters of New York.

But even so, Peter knew that whatever they were preparing, he could handle with some effort. And he would also be enjoying those calm days while they were off the scene to relax a little.

After all, any day without having to fight Rhino is a day of peace.

Peter was calmly swinging with his webs through the city, already returning home, when suddenly...

He felt something strange.

His spider sense tingled like never before, all the hairs on his body stood on and his body got locked in the place where it was. It was the first time Peter felt something like that and it was scary.

His body was instinctively reacting to a threat he couldn't even feel. It was as if he were a bird inside a cage, small, defenseless and unable to do anything to escape.

For almost a minute that seemed almost a whole day to Peter, he just stood there, paralyzed, his sense tingling like crazy and his body unable to move.

After this short infernal time, the spider sense returned to normal and Peter's body moved freely again. The first thing he did was get up because he had fallen after being paralyzed while swinging.

The second was to check the environment and try to understand what the fuck had happened, because it was the first time that his sense reacted so violently. Peter tried to notice anything suspicious or dangerous, but there was nothing there.

After half an hour looking and not finding anything, Peter just gave up and came home swinging on his webs.

What the hell was that? That's all Peter thought.

A little earlier, in the Baxter building... |

Reed Richards finished creating another of his inventions while Sue and Johnny watched without knowing what it was.

The only thing they knew was that Reed was excited to finally finish that thing.

" And... done " Reed adjusted the last details and moved away a little to be able to better appreciate his new masterpiece " Finally complete after so long "

"Reed, dear, do you mind explaining what this machine does? " Susan asked the million dollar question.

It wasn't the first time Reed created an extremely large and shiny machine and only explained what she did at the end. It was just the first time he looked more excited.

Susan also noticed that Johnny left as soon as Reed finished the machine. He would probably come back later just to see what the machine did.

"Do you remember when Galactus attacked the earth a few months ago? " Reed asked seriously. By the way, that almost didn't seem like a question.

Susan remembered Galactus very clearly. The devourer of worlds. The most formidable enemy that the four, no, that the heroes of the earth had already faced.

The most frightening thing was not only to have faced, but to know that there may be others like him, powerful beings and indifferent to other lives in the universe, and that one time or another these beings could end up on earth. Susan still didn't believe they had managed to beat him.

In fact, beat him was a very strong allegation. They, at most, managed to convince him not to return to earth for some time. Whatever Reed and the Silver Surfer did that made him give up of earth was a great relief for all the heroes present in the place.

That meeting would leave very deep marks for everyone present.

"Well, this machine serves to warn us when another Galactus comes to attack the earth," Reed explained very vaguely.

Susan looked at him and waited for him to explain in a language she understood.

"It's a detector, it absorbs, tracks and locates energy from outside this planet and warns us when this energy is close to us" Now Susan understood what he was saying "I used as a reference the energy of the surfer, Galactus himself and his machines, so you can label this machine as a Galactus detector"

"And does it work? " Susan asked with a little hope in her voice.

" That's what I'm going to test now " Reed clicked on some buttons on the main panel of the machine and Reed saw a holographic screen appear above the same machine.

On the screen it showed a map of all of New York City with some points circled.

"It works perfectly" Reed smiled as he stops the machine.

"How do you know? "

"Are you seeing the circled points? They are places that still have fragments of the Galactus energy that I had already identified before. Therefore, if the machine can identify these fragments now... "

"You will also be able to detect Galactus himself if he comes back," Susan added with a smile.

It was at times like this that she remembered that she had married a super genius. Reed could be a little hard-headed, but when he committed himself to doing something and put in his head that he would do that same thing no matter the circumstances, you would question all the logic in the universe seeing his results.

The machine continued to work normally for some more time before Reed and Susan noticed something strange. First, the machine began to mark a new much higher energy concentration coming from Hell's Kitchen.

Then green rays began to form around her.

And in the end...

BOOM!

Susan reacted instantly and created a force field around the 2 to protect them from the explosion.

When the smoke went down and Susan undid the shield, all they saw were the remains of the machine burned and scattered throughout the laboratory and much of the laboratory partially destroyed.

Partly because Susan still hadn't found out what material Reed had used to create that laboratory to make it so resistant.

Reed and Susan were looking at each other confused, not quite understanding what had happened, but there was something sure.

The machine had picked up something, and that something came from Hell's Kitchen. It seemed that they would do some investigations in this area.

Elsewhere... |

Wanda Maximoff didn't quite understand what had happened.

She was just sitting on her new bed, courtesy of the new mission she had to spy on the Xavier academy for the brotherhood, when suddenly her powers were activated on their own.

It was the first time something like this happened.

She wasn't nervous, scared or angry, so it wasn't her emotional that was messing with her powers. No, it was something else, something more familiar and still unknown.

Wanda didn't know, but she felt that it was somehow connected to her. And she also knew that if she let herself be carried away by the direction in which her powers were pointing now, she would end up finding something that might explain what had happened now.

But she wouldn't do that. She didn't have time, she had a mission to fulfill.

She could think of this strange event later.

Elsewhere (this shit is already getting repetitive).... |

Stephen Strange, the supreme sorcerer of the Earth, observed in his state of astral projection Ethan's fallen body.

He had gone in the direction of the strange energy he felt as soon as she manifested herself in that world, but he didn't expect this energy to lead him straight to a fainted teenager.

And I also didn't expect that there were already so many demons and entities trying to possess the young man's body.

But for some reason they couldn't. The boy had a kind of natural spiritual and psychic protection that prevented those beings from entering his body, so Strange did nothing but observe.

That was one of the strangest situations you've ever been in since you became the supreme sorcerer. A bunch of entities trying and failing to possess the body of a fainted teenager. It was even kind of funny.

In the end, Strange banned all the entities back to where they had left and put a protection on the boy to ensure that they would not return so soon.

Interesting boy, Strange thought before returning to his material body. He would continue to observe the boy, but now he had more important things to do.
