Joseph's POV
The silence stretches endlessly as Percy disappears with Aaron. Aaron's the right choice to drive him home in this condition. I remember losing my mind completely when Dorothy was taken from me. I was prepared to tear apart everything in my path to get her back. But even then, I don't think I ever reached the level of darkness and savagery that Percy just displayed.
God help anyone who dares to harm someone that man cares about.
I turn my attention back to what remains of Dion's pack. The terror written across their faces tells me everything I need to know. No one will ever risk so much as a sideways glance at a Nikolas family member again. I'm not certain what this means for his countless daughters, but as their grandfather, I'm relieved knowing that simply the reputation of their father will shield them from harm.
"Now I see why the Academy rejected his application," remarks a military-looking man I vaguely recognize, watching Percy's departure.
