"Recess," I said loudly. Before the vote could be finalized. Before it became official record. "I invoke procedural recess to consult with advisors."
Diana Silvermoon's eyes narrowed. "The vote is complete."
"The vote is called. Not finalized. I have right to recess before final confirmation. Check your parliamentary procedure."
She did. Consulted the council handbook sitting on her desk. Her expression soured.
"Ten minutes," she said coldly. "No more."
"Fifteen. Standard consultation period."
"Ten."
"Compromise at twelve. Unless you'd like me to formally challenge the entire vote's legitimacy based on procedural violations."
Through the bond, Darius sent his pride. Using their own rules against them. Making them follow procedure or expose that they were willing to break it.
Diana clearly weighed the options. Breaking procedure would undermine the vote's authority. But giving us time to strategize risked counter-move.
