The Alpha heir's voice rang out across the festival.
Darius had taken maybe five steps away from me when he stopped. His shoulders squared. His head lifted.
And then he turned back.
Not to me. To the crowd.
Every student in the clearing went silent. The music had stopped. People stood frozen, watching, sensing something big was about to happen.
Darius walked to the center of the festival grounds, right beside the bonfire. The flames cast shadows across his face, making him look both dangerous and determined. Smoke curled upward into the cool autumn night, carrying the scent of burning cedar.
"Can I have everyone's attention?" His voice carried easily across the clearing. Alpha command woven through every word.
Students pressed closer, forming a circle around him. Phones came out immediately. Everyone wanted to witness whatever was about to happen.
