Chapter 14 - Chapter fourteen: Blood on the Marble

U.A. Dormitory Emergency Lights Flicker

Aoyama's body collapses like a broken doll, glitter dimming into nothing. The metallic tang of blood spreads through the air. Deku freezes mid-step, his voice cracking into a raw scream:

"NOOOO!"

Green lightning erupts around him, arcs of One For All tearing through the corridor like furious veins of power. His fists clench so hard his knuckles split. His breath is ragged, his eyes wide with horror.

Stain stared at his own blade, voice low, shaken.

"That… wasn't me."

He looks at Deku, his expression hardening into grim resolve. His voice drops to a bitter truth:

"See for yourself, kid. This life… it doesn't always go the way you want. You have to be ready for that."

The silence shatters as sirens wail, alarms scream, and doors slam open as Class 1-A bursts into the hall. Bakugo's roar shakes the walls, Todoroki's ice crawls across the floor, and Iida's engines scream like war drums.

Bakugo, with a furious voice, lost in rage, demands an explanation from Stain.

"WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO?!"

Todoroki, with a cold voice trembling:

"Aoyama… is he—"

Deku cuts him off, his voice raw and blazing with grief:

"STAIN!"

He lunges forward, One For All detonating in a storm of green lightning. The floor cracks under his feet as he rockets toward Stain with a punch that could shatter steel.

Stain pivots, blade flashes, and sparks fly as steel meets raw power. The impact sends shockwaves down the corridor, shattering glass and ripping banners from the walls.

Stain (inner monologue):

If they can twist my will… then this world is filthier than I thought.

He spins, slicing through Bakugo's incoming blast, the explosion lighting his scarred face in hellish orange. Todoroki's ice surges like a tidal wave, freezing the floor, but Stain leaps onto the wall, moving like a phantom.

Iida shouting orders for everyone to regroup and focus on a coordinated attack as Stain continues to evade their every move with deadly precision. The tension in the air is palpable as the heroes realize they are facing a formidable opponent unlike any they have encountered before.

"Don't let him escape! He's heading for the west wing!"

The fight becomes chaos, quirks erupting like fireworks in the dark. Stain cuts through the storm, his blade a silver ghost, his creed burning even as doubt gnaws at his mind. Every strike is survival, every breath a war drum. The last one left standing will be the victor.

Deku charges again, fury blazing in his eyes, grief twisting his voice into a roar:

"You killed him! You killed Aoyama!"

While blocking him, Stain only answered Deku with a calm voice.

"If you live long enough, you'll learn heroes aren't the ones writing this story."

He kicks Deku back, vaults over Todoroki's ice, and crashes through a glass wall into the open night. The cold wind howls as he lands on the rooftop, blood dripping from his blade.

Below, U.A. erupts in chaos with sirens, searchlights, and the pounding of boots as pro heroes flood the campus. The hunt begins. Stain runs, his silhouette slicing through moonlight, every muscle screaming for escape.

He smiled by himself while thinking..

"If they can control me… then who controls them?"

Behind him, Deku bursts through the shattered window, lightning crackling like a storm god's wrath. His voice rips through the night:

"STAIN!"

The chase begins across rooftops, through shadows, and into the heart of U.A.'s labyrinth. And above it all, unseen, something watches. Something that smiles when the mirror cracks.

He leaps to the next rooftop, cloak whipping like a shadow in the wind. Deku lunges after him, One For All roaring in his veins, green arcs slicing through the night. The chase becomes a storm of two forces tearing across the skyline, every leap a clash of ideals.

Bakugo explodes out of the dorm entrance, sweat and fury igniting his palms.

"I'LL BLOW HIS DAMN HEAD OFF!"

Todoroki follows, ice spiraling up the walls as he creates frozen ramps toward the rooftops. Iida's engines scream as he rockets forward, his voice cutting through the chaos:

"Secure the perimeter! Don't let him reach the west gate!"

Pro heroes flood the campus, Eraserhead's scarf lashes through the air, Present Mic's voice booms commands, and Cementoss reshapes walls into barricades. The entire school becomes a battlefield.

Stain vaults over a ventilation shaft, spinning mid-air as Deku closes in. Their eyes lock, green lightning against crimson steel. Deku's fist glows like a comet as he roars:

"MANCHESTER SMASH!"

The punch detonates against the rooftop, sending shockwaves that rip tiles into the sky. Stain twists away, his blade grazing Deku's arm, drawing blood. He lands in a crouch, voice low and venomous:

"You fight like a hero. But heroes die blind."

He hurls a dagger, nott at Deku, but at a security drone overhead. Sparks explode as the drone crashes, plunging the rooftop into deeper shadow. Stain uses the cover to sprint toward the west wall, his silhouette melting into the night.

Deku skids to a halt, chest heaving, eyes blazing with tears and fury. He screams into the darkness:

"STAIN! I WON'T LET YOU ESCAPE!"

But far ahead, Stain leaps beyond the barricades, his voice carried on the wind, a whisper that chills Deku's blood:

"You think you're chasing me, kid? You're chasing the truth."

And then he vanishes, sucked up by the night. Behind Deku, the campus burns with chaos, and above it all, unseen, something watches, a presence smiling when the mirror cracks.

The night explodes with chaos. Sirens wail like banshees, red strobes slicing through the darkness. Automated speakers blare across the grounds:

System Voice:

"LOCKDOWN PROTOCOL INITIATED. ALL STUDENTS REMAIN IN SECURE ZONES. PRO HERO RESPONSE TEAM DEPLOYED."

Searchlights sweep the rooftops as drones buzz overhead, scanning for movement. Cementoss reshapes walls into barricades, sealing exits. Eraserhead's voice cuts through the comms, sharp and commanding:

"All units, converge on the west perimeter! Target is hostile and armed; do NOT engage alone!"

Stain vaults across the tiles, his blade flashing under the moonlight. Below, the campus transforms into a fortress, heroes flooding the grounds, students herded into safe rooms. His breath rasps, muscles burning, but his mind is sharper than ever.

Stain (inner monologue):

"They think they can cage me. They think they can stop the truth. But if someone can control my hand… then this world is rotten to its core."

He leaps to the next building, cloak whipping like a shadow in the wind. A spotlight catches him for a split second, then Bakugo's explosion detonates against the wall, fire and smoke ripping through the night, roaring.

"I'LL KILL YOU MYSELF!"

Stain spins mid-air, deflecting debris with his blade, landing hard on the edge of the house roof. His eyes flick to the far perimeter, the house's garden, his only escape route. But Todoroki's ice surges like a tidal wave, freezing the path ahead. Screaming with a cold, voice echoing.

"Don't think you can just escape so easily."

Command Center

Principal Nezu's voice is calm but razor-sharp as he addresses the pro heroes gathered around the holographic map:

"He gets past the wall. Deploy Hawks for aerial interception. Midnight, take the south flank. Eraserhead, keep Class 1-A contained; some students are already in pursuit."

Eraserhead curses under his breath, grabbing his scarf. His voice crackles through the comms:

"Midoriya, stand down! Do NOT engage alone!"

But Deku doesn't answer. He's already tearing across the rooftops, green lightning blazing like a storm god's wrath. His voice rips through the night:

"STAIN!"

Rain lashes against the barricades as Stain vaults over the final wall, his silhouette melting into the industrial sprawl beyond. Behind him, the campus burns with chaos, sirens wailing, drones sweeping, and pro heroes flooding the grounds like a tide of steel.

System Voice echoing:

"LOCKDOWN PROTOCOL ACTIVE. ALL STUDENTS REMAIN IN SECURE ZONES."

But Izuku Midoriya isn't listening.

He stands on the shattered rooftop, chest heaving, green lightning crackling around his limbs like a storm barely contained. His fists bleed from clenched rage, and his eyes blaze with grief and obsession. His comm crackles with Eraserhead's voice, sharp and desperate:

"Midoriya! Report! Where are you?!"

Static answers him. Deku rips the earpiece out and hurls it into the rain. His voice is a whisper of fury:

"Aoyama… I couldn't save you. I won't fail again. I can't."

He leaps from the rooftop, One For All detonating in a storm of green arcs. The barricades blur beneath him as he rockets into the night, ignoring every protocol, every warning. Ahead, the city sprawls like a labyrinth of shadows, and somewhere in that darkness, Stain runs free.

U.A. Command Center

Principal Nezu's voice slices through the tension, calm but razor-sharp:

Nezu:

"He's gone. Midoriya breached the perimeter. Hawks, track him. Eraserhead, intercept before he reaches Stain."

Eraserhead curses under his breath, his scarf coiling like a serpent as he storms toward the west gate. His voice crackles through the comms:

Eraserhead:

"If Midoriya reaches him alone, we risk another death."

The map flickers, two signals moving fast through the city grid. One crimson. One green.

Musutafu – Abandoned Industrial District, 2:41 AM

Rain lashes against rusted steel beams, turning the ground into a slick battlefield. Stain crouches in the shadows of a derelict warehouse, blade gleaming faintly under fractured moonlight. His breath rasps, muscles burning from the chase. His mind churns with fury and dread.

"So they were able to force my hand? Did they really make me kill that boy? If someone can control me… then this world is filthier than I thought."

The wind howls through broken windows. Then a roar splits the night. Green lightning arcs across the skyline like veins of fury. A figure crashes through the rain, boots slamming against steel.

"STAIN!"

Izuku Midoriya lands hard, One For All detonating in a storm of emerald sparks. His fists glow like comets, and his eyes blaze with grief and obsession. His voice cracks with rage:

"You killed him! You killed Aoyama!"

Stain rises slowly, his silhouette a blade carved from darkness. His voice is sharp, bitter, and laced with something darker:

"I think now it's not time to think about death."

But Deku didn't care about Stain's warning; his fist rockets forward, green lightning tearing through the night:

"DETROIT SMASH!"

The punch detonates against the concrete, sending shockwaves that rip steel beams into the air. Stain twists away, his blade grazing Deku's arm, drawing blood. Sparks scatter like fireflies in the storm.

"Oh my, don't lose your mind." Stain's mocking tone only fueled Deku's determination as he readied himself for another attack, his eyes burning with resolve. The battle between hero and villain was far from over, with the fate of Aoyama hanging in the balance.

He lunges, blade flashing like a silver ghost slicing through the rain. Deku blocks with raw power, his muscles screaming as steel screeches against bone. Their eyes lock, green fury against crimson creed.

Deku gritted his teeth, pushing himself beyond his limits as he launched a counterattack, determined to achieve his revenge.

"I can't stop. I won't stop. If I let him go, Aoyama's death means nothing."

But then, Stain says something that makes Midoriya stop. "But what about your other friend, young hero?" Stain's words cut through the chaos, causing Deku to pause and consider the consequences of his actions.

"You have to choose now, your revenge or your friend," he began with a small smile. "Ah, I'm not trying to influence you, but I'm just asking for myself, how much time is left before they lose all their blood?"

The mention of his other friend's life hanging in the balance forces Midoriya to confront the gravity of the situation. Stain's words bring a moment of clarity, causing Deku to reassess his priorities and make a difficult decision.

"STAIN!" Deku shouted, his voice filled with determination as he faced the villain head-on.

"I'll find you. No matter what it takes."

Stain just stayed calm, looking at him with a smile, "I will wait for you, young hero," before disappearing in the night.

And then, above them, unseen, something watches, a presence smiling when the mirror cracks.
