However, knowing that Xue Tang was a public relations consultant, I had some different thoughts about what I saw at the airport a few days ago. Could it be that the foreigner was just Yu Tang's client?
Although their goodbye kiss with French kisses made me feel bitter and incredulous, perhaps… Xue Tang had just gone a little too far?
Or perhaps the foreigner had initiated it, and Xue Tang was just too polite?
It's well known that Westerners have a tradition of saying goodbye with a kiss—though they might not do a French kiss.
With this slight anticipation, I arrived at the Luoshen Building.
The Luoshen Building is located in Lijiazui, the most bustling area of Shanghai. Standing over 200 meters tall, it's not far from the famous Oriental Pearl TV Tower, and opposite is the Bund, a must-see for every visitor to Shanghai. In this vibrant and prestigious area, the Luoshen Group, owning an entire building, is arguably the pinnacle of power, admired by countless people.
Even so, the Luoshen Group is merely the Luo family's headquarters in Shanghai; their true base lies in Kyoto and Nanjing.
And this Luo family, however, is only the lowest-ranking of the four major conglomerates, demonstrating the immense power of their clan.
I didn't think much of it. Although I didn't come here often, it was still a place almost like home to me, so I went straight in. But upon reaching the lobby, I was stopped.
This is the receptionist manager of the Luo Shen Group. I told him I wanted to see Xue Tang, and he came out after being notified by the staff. He immediately asked for my appointment confirmation, but to avoid trouble, I had already called Uncle Qin before coming here and asked him to inform the staff that I was coming.
Of course, I didn't want to use my status as the son-in-law of the Luo family to pressure anyone, so I told Uncle Qin that I was a customer looking for Xue Tang. But even though the receptionist manager seemed somewhat surprised after hearing this, he still stopped me from going upstairs.
When I asked him for his reason, he stammered and couldn't give a straight answer…
I immediately became angry: "I told you, I've already informed the Luo family. I need to speak with Ms. Luo Xuetang!"
The receptionist's face also paled, seemingly hesitant, and she said, "Sir, it's not that I won't let you in, but if possible, could you wait here for an hour?"
"An hour?" I calmed myself down. "Is Ms. Luo Xuetang dealing with something urgent?"
The receptionist didn't answer directly, saying, "It's some internal company business. She can't come immediately. I'll notify her to come see you after Consultant Luo finishes her work."
Seeing that many people had gathered around because of the small argument, I didn't want to continue arguing, so I reluctantly retreated and waited in the meeting room.
Fortunately, not much time had passed. Twenty or thirty minutes later, with the crisp "tap, tap, tap" of high heels clicking on the floor, a sophisticated woman in a suit and gleaming black stockings appeared from the doorway.
I looked over excitedly, but unexpectedly, yet predictably, it wasn't Xue Tang.
She walked over, extending her small hand to me, a strange expression on her pretty face. "Hello, you must be Mr. 'Where the Hell Are You?'"
After shaking hands, she covered her mouth and chuckled, "I've never heard of anyone with the surname 'Where the Hell Are' before… I've certainly learned something new today."
Hearing this, my outstretched hand froze, then I shook my head with a wry smile. It was obvious…
Xue Tang harbored a great deal of resentment towards me, but judging from this statement, she didn't seem entirely indifferent. If that were the case, she would never have uttered something like "Where the Hell Are You?"—a seemingly reproachful phrase that actually implied concern.
The so-called opposite of love isn't hate, but indifference—this is certainly not without reason.
"Alright, enough joking. My name is Luo Qin, nice to meet you... Mr. Li Dong."
Led by Luo Qin, we took the internal elevator directly to the floor where the Public Relations Department of the Luo Shen Group was located. The top floor of this building was reserved for the chairman, whose name was Luo Shaowen. He was Uncle Luo's elder brother and the true head of the Luo family branch in Shen City.
He and Uncle Luo, one the chairman and the other the president, firmly controlled the vast Luo Shen Group.
The Public Relations Department was also in a unique position, located directly below the chairman's office. The president's office, on the other hand, was located in the lower middle section because it was used for work.
Upon arriving at the Public Relations Department... well, let's just say it was a dazzling display of women, and the entire floor was filled with an indescribable fragrance.
Leaving the bustling office area and walking along a long corridor, floor-to-ceiling windows offered a panoramic view of the beautiful scenery on both sides of the Pu River. However, I had no time to appreciate it at the moment, because Xue Tang's office was just ahead.
Luo Qin knocked first to announce her arrival, and soon a clear, melodious voice came from inside: "Xiao Luo, you can go now. Let him come in alone."
Luo Qin shrugged her fragrant muscles, stuck out her red tongue at me, revealing an expression of helplessness, and then turned and left.
I took a deep breath, calming my pounding heart slightly, and slowly pushed the door open...
The desk was empty. My gaze shifted to the French windows, where Xue Tang sat with her long, slender legs crossed at a delicate little round table, seemingly gazing at the scenery outside.
Her buttocks were round like a pear, her waist slender and willow-like. The custom-made women's suit fit her graceful curves perfectly. Her swan-like neck and profile were fair and delicate. Her slightly damp hair cascaded down like a waterfall. Just sitting there, she was a flawless picture.
After a long while, the room was silent.
Only once did Xue Tang pick up a small bone china cup from the table beside her and sip her tea; and only once.
Suddenly, Xue Tang turned her head, cup in hand, her beautiful face ashen and expressionless. Then, a clear, cold voice rang out: "So you've finally decided to come back?"
Even though it was still cold, my heart, which had been in my throat, inexplicably calmed down. After seven years, I had finally seen Xue Tang again, spoken to her again. For me, this was like the thawing of ice, the arrival of spring.
And I had no intention of making excuses for myself. Whatever the reason, leaving my fiancée aside for seven years was an undeniable fact.
So I nodded first, and when a faint blush rose on Xue Tang's beautiful face, and her body trembled slightly with anger, I added:
"I'm back."
