Silas screamed his lungs out.
The sound tore through the clearing, raw and broken, echoing off the trees and the empty structure behind them. His throat burned as the scream left him, but the pain in his hands drowned out everything else. His body jerked violently against the guards holding him down, but it was useless. He was restrained, pinned, completely powerless.
His vision blurred with tears, his chest heaving as his mind struggled to catch up with what was happening.
"Was it this one?" Kasteil pointed at his middle finger.
Silas barely registered the words before it happened.
Kasteil didn't wait for Silas to reply. He cut it off.
Silas screamed even louder.
The sound was no longer human. It was desperation, terror, agony all mixed into one. His body shook violently, every nerve screaming at once. His hands felt wrong—lighter, incomplete—and his mind refused to accept it. He couldn't breathe properly. He couldn't think. All he could do was scream.
