Holland's POV
"Jamie," the omega called.
Jamie slowly turned back around, a forced smile sliding into place across his face, though I could see the tension coiled beneath it. The muscles in his jaw twitched slightly, like he was holding himself together by sheer force of will.
"Well hello," Jamie said. "How are you, Joshua?"
"I am good, you?" Joshua replied curtly, his tone sharp and clipped. Unlike Jamie there was no smile on his face. He just stood there, and radiated control in a way that made my stomach twist nervously.
"Great until you showed up," Jamie said. "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be at work?"
"I had a day off but I don't expect you to understand," Joshua replied, his words icy.
"Secretaries get a day off while their boss has to work?" Jamie asked, trying to keep his voice light, though I could feel it sharpening at the edges. There was a bite in his words.
"Well he told me to take a rest," Joshua said. "And he requested I came here. He paid for it."
