Holland's POV
Work passed by in a blur.
I wasn't listening to anything. I didn't care that Silas was yelling from the kitchen again or that a plate shattered somewhere behind me. Normally, that kind of chaos would snap me back to reality, but today my mind refused to cooperate. Every thought I had looped back to one thing and one thing only.
I was going on a date with Kastiel.
The realization hit me over and over again like a wave crashing against the shore. A date. An actual date. Not just a casual meet-up that we went on every evening after I closed from work.
By the time my shift finally ended, my head was buzzing. I pulled off my apron and clocked out mechanically, my body running on autopilot while my thoughts spiraled in every direction at once.
As I stepped out of the restaurant, the evening air brushed against my skin, cool and grounding. The sky had darken and the weather wa beautiful. Normally I would stop to admire it but today, I barely noticed.
