Chapter 82 - Chapter 82: Hint, disappeared?

"Let's go! Everyone follow me and move toward the Gray Ore mining area to the west!"

Ethan waved his hand and led Hunting Five Squad and Stone Six Squad, the two groups totaling fifteen people, together heading west.

The residents, one by one, seemed to have not yet realized the danger.

At this moment, they were simply like children about to go on a picnic, each face even carrying the joy of going out for some spring outing.

After all, no one wants to stay cooped up in the dorms all day.

Even though there is food and drink inside, humans are creatures that are never satisfied. When they are not full, they fantasize that being full would be enough.

But when they are full, they start fantasizing about having a place to live.

After all of that is taken care of, they begin thinking about entertainment. If there is none, then just going out for a bit is good too.

Ethan carefully walked forward, but the more he walked, the more violently his left eyelid kept twitching.

'Left eye twitching means disaster.'

Deep down, Ethan vaguely felt an ominous premonition, yet he could not see any hint warning him at all.

Suddenly…

"Meow!"

Right at the instant Ethan was about to take another step forward.

He suddenly heard Daji's cry by his ear. The pitch of the sound was high and sharp.

It startled Ethan badly.

"Daji?"

He pulled back the foot he was about to step forward with.

Then he looked toward the direction where Daji's voice came from.

"Meow~"

Seeing that Ethan had finally stopped, Daji then walked toward him with catlike steps.

Its head was held high, and it even carried a kind of 'You can't do without me, can you?' expression.

"Where did you go last night?", Ethan rubbed Daji's little head, then bent down and took a deep breath into Daji's cat-shaped head, "Ahh, so good!"

"Meow! Hmph!"

Daji turned its head aside.

With an expression saying 'Why should I tell you?'

And Ethan, a cat lover, although he did not agree with a kitten staying out all night, would not be overly harsh about it.

After all, cats also need their own meow life.

After rubbing it a few more times, Ethan finally let go of Daji's little head, but still reluctantly rubbed its small ears once more. Only then did he loosen the arms holding Daji and say to the residents behind him, "All units on guard! We continue forward!"

But just as Ethan finished giving the order, the first one to directly disobey Ethan's command was none other than Daji.

It directly stretched out its furry little paw and stopped Ethan.

"Daji, be good! Move aside!"

"Meow!"

Daji refused.

It continued calmly licking its paw.

Only when Ethan started to look a bit impatient did the little guy finally stretch out its chubby, pink plum blossom paw.

Ethan watched with saliva almost dripping, and even wanted to reach out and pinch it.

But the next second.

Swish!

Daji's sharp claws instantly shot out from the little paw.

Those long, sharp claws were practically comparable to the Nine Yin White Bone Claw.

Just when Ethan was wondering what it was trying to do, he saw Daji directly extend those sharp claws forward.

Shoo!

The next second.

Ethan only saw a flash of cold light.

Then, Daji's claws, which could cut open metal plates, were actually sliced clean off at the base just like that.

The cut was as sharp as a laser blade.

This made Ethan's eyes widen in shock.

'This… what on earth is this thing in front?'

An invisible cutter, the kind you cannot see or touch, and that does not even give any warning at all.

'Damn it!'

Ethan immediately opened his mouth wide.

This time he really had to thank Daji. If this little cutie had not come in time, Ethan was afraid a chunk of his foot would have been cut off.

"Damn! Where's the hint?"

"Why is there no hint this time, could it be that the hint effect has failed?"

Ethan hurriedly turned his head to look behind him.

But when he turned toward the other three directions, the hints were still there, completely unchanged. Only the direction of the Gray Ore mining area had no hint at all.

'This...'

Ethan was completely stunned.

But clearly, it looked like the hints had not failed.

Rather, something in this direction was blocking the hint effect.

"Since there are no hints, then I will rely on the most primitive method of probing."

Ethan took out an enchanted Fire Arrow from the warehouse. After having everyone step back a few steps, he then drew his bow and shot.

Shoo!

The Fire Arrow shot rapidly toward the Gray Ore mining area.

But the powerful Fire Arrow, this time strangely disappeared right in front of Ethan.

That's right, as if it passed through space and vanished completely.

And right about 0.1 seconds before the Fire Arrow disappeared, Ethan seemed to see a jelly-like barrier appear in front of him.

But it only flickered once, extremely fast, and then vanished again.

Was the Fire Arrow eaten?

Or was it because it was shot too fast, passing through the barrier and disappearing?

Looking at the scene before him, Ethan fell into deep thought. He had to figure this out.

Otherwise, there was no way he could pass through the area in front of him.

"If only I could see the entire barrier clearly."

"⊙▽⊙!!!"

Fire can perhaps be extinguished.

But in this world, there is one kind of thing that is formless and intangible. Whether it is a cutter or a barrier, none of them can eliminate its existence.

That thing is wind.

Ethan pulled out a Wind Arrow.

Then he shot it half a meter in front of the barrier.

Shoo!

That's right, Ethan did not shoot directly at the barrier.

Because before a Wind Arrow forms a tornado, it might just be an ordinary, plain arrow.

But once it forms a tornado, it is almost an indestructible existence.

Therefore, Ethan directly shot it to a spot half a meter in front of the barrier.

That way, the tornado it formed would just barely scrape the barrier, and Ethan would naturally be able to see the existence of the barrier in front of him.

Huuu~ Huu~

The Wind Arrow landed on the ground.

Then it immediately stirred up a tornado.

Spinning nonstop, growing bigger and bigger, soon the tornado's diameter exceeded half a meter.

And at this moment, the tornado finally brushed against the invisible barrier.

Ethan finally saw the strange barrier being blown into a wave-like distortion, even flashing with a "Boing~ Boing~" effect.

Immediately after, a bizarre scene appeared.

Half of the tornado that blew into the barrier actually vanished.

As if it had mysteriously disappeared out of thin air.

But what was even stranger was that the other half of the tornado did not disappear because of this and was still spinning nonstop.

This meant that, in reality, the western half of the tornado had not actually disappeared, but was being blocked by something and could not be seen.

Only then did Ethan finally relax a bit. He carefully stared at the barrier in front of him that was rippling and trembling, and began to observe it seriously.

"A door!"

From afar, Ethan saw that about five hundred meters to the left, there was a blank spot.

No matter how the barrier rippled, that spot showed no change at all.

'Could that be the door to pass through the barrier?'
