Along with the tremors in the Hoenn region, the entire Mt. Pyre began to shake violently.
A thunderous rumbling echoed out, as if bombs were detonating inside the mountain.
"This is bad!", The old man and the old woman who had been guarding the place ignored the terrifying sight of Sky Pillar still falling, and hurriedly ran toward the main peak of Mt. Pyre.
"Mt. Pyre used to be an enormous volcano, ranking second in the entire Hoenn region, second only to Mt. Chimney."
"If it keeps shaking like this, it's very likely to erupt again."
"When that happens, I'm afraid even the nearby Lilycove City will be engulfed in flames!"
Axel looked in surprise toward the source of the violent tremors, in the direction of the Seafloor Cavern. He hadn't expected Kyogre and Groudon to possess such terrifying destructive power.
From such a great distance away, and before they had even fully awakened, they were already causing a disaster capable of destroying cities.
"Looks like I really do have to control them..."
Axel muttered as he waved his hand toward the sky. Terrifying psychic power enveloped the "yin-yang hotpot" above Mt. Pyre.
The next instant, the yin-yang hotpot's rotation speed suddenly increased, erupting with an overwhelming suction force.
Very quickly, it tore open a massive crack at the summit of Mt. Pyre.
Scorching heat burst out from the crack, mixed with thick volcanic ash and sparks, erupting outward, with the intensity steadily growing.
Before the old man and the others could even react, Axel had already mounted Reshiram, who feared no flames, and positioned himself directly above the pillar of fire shooting skyward.
As a divine dragon with a quadruple resistance to fire, even when facing flames from other gods, Reshiram would barely take any damage.
As for flames formed by nature itself, Reshiram could easily bathe in them.
Under his barrier's protection, Axel also ignored the raging flames. With a sweep of his hand, he connected to the crimson orb within his mind.
An ancient, planet-like, heavy aura once again emerged from Axel's body, and a thick, earth-yellow giant sword took shape.
He slowly extended the giant sword beyond Reshiram's protective range, letting it come into contact with the flames.
The moment the two touched, it was as if some kind of fusion reaction occurred. The flames surged toward the giant sword in overwhelming waves, quickly dyeing it a blazing red.
Just one glance was enough to make one's eyes burn red, as if this giant sword were the hottest thing in the world!
Seeing Axel's terrifying display, the White Dragon hurriedly flattered him, ["Amazing, Divine Lord!"]
]["Even if Groudon were to come in person, it probably wouldn't look as cool as your Precipice Blade."]
["In my opinion, if Groudon saw you, he'd probably kneel on the spot and beg you to take him in!"]
Axel: "..."
This White Dragon truly lived up to being the embodiment of truth. He had completely mastered the saying that those who know the times are heroes.
If there ever came a day to establish a nation, this guy would definitely be prime turtle-minister material.
"Don't underestimate the enemy. When Groudon and Kyogre fight, they can affect an entire continent. They're still pretty terrifying."
The White Dragon raised his head proudly, ["Divine Lord, rest assured. As your generals, my Black Dragon brother and I will suppress all enemies for you!"]
Axel sounded surprised, "All enemies?"
The White Dragon nodded vigorously, ["Absolutely all of them!"]
"Then I'm relieved," Axel grabbed the White Dragon's twin ponytails and patted his body, signaling him to land.
As he continued, "Your strength and Zekrom's aren't bad, but Rayquaza seems more experienced at fighting them."
"I was originally worried you two might get beaten up, and was planning to just make do for now."
"But since you said you can suppress all enemies, I'll give you and the Black Dragon a new task."
["What task?"], The White Dragon took a cautious step back, suddenly sensing something was wrong.
A chill shot straight to the top of his head, and even the feathers on his body began to tremble.
"It's actually not a big task," Axel smiled as he patted the White Dragon on the shoulder, swinging the Precipice Blade (Flame Mountain version) in his hand.
"Now that you and the Black Dragon are fairly proficient at fusion, you can make a trip back to Alola and go switch Rayquaza back."
"Then I'll take this Precipice Blade, along with Rayquaza and Volcanion, and wait at the entrance of the Seafloor Cavern. The moment they show themselves, we'll insta-kill them."
"Huh?", A huge question mark popped up over the White Dragon's head. He automatically ignored everything Axel said afterward, with all his thoughts stuck on the part about being sent back to suppress Kyurem.
He'd get beaten to death, right?
But the bragging had already been done. If he didn't go now... wouldn't that mean he'd let Lillie win over the Divine Lord for nothing?
Black Dragon brother, for the sake of me being able to eat you in the future, please come with me and get beaten up for a few days!
The Black and White Dragons quickly left, leaving in peace.
Axel didn't know what kind of persuasion the White Dragon used, but when the Black Dragon left, he looked just like Jing Ke... Muttering things like "make sure to keep the Dark Stone and the Light Stone safe, revive us early in the future," and other bizarre nonsense.
Axel was really baffled at just how big a psychological shadow Kyurem had cast over these two.
Now Kyurem could fuse, and these two could fuse as well.
With stats this high, and with Kyurem having spent this whole time being beaten into the ground by Rayquaza, Mewtwo, and others like a grandson.
Why couldn't they just swallow him whole?
Watching the Black and White Dragons depart, Axel turned around, briefly bid farewell to Sapphire and the others, then took Lillie and Lusamine aboard Volcanion and flew toward the Seafloor Cavern.
Everything was ready now. All that was left was for those two Hoenn villains, Archie and Maxie, to bring Kyogre and Groudon out into the world.
———
[Seafloor Cavern]
The crashing sounds of flames and deep-sea currents were still terrifying.
But compared to just moments ago, there were now some arguments mixed into those dreadful noises.
"Damn it, it's all your fault for being so impatient! I told you we should've gone to Mt. Pyre to get the orb first, but you just wouldn't listen!"
Archie's face was livid as he angrily cursed Maxie at his side.
Earlier, he had commanded Sharpedo to try and approach the turbulent waters where Kyogre lay.
But the moment it entered, the violent currents at the edge were like countless spinning blades, instantly slicing multiple bloody gashes into Sharpedo's tough skin, then flinging it violently away to smash into the cavern wall.
A dignified Elite-level Pokémon, close to Champion-level, didn't even qualify to approach Kyogre.
Maxie let out a cold laugh, equally unwilling to back down, "Then why don't you go get it yourself?"
"Don't think I don't know. The reason you didn't send anyone to Mt. Pyre was because you wanted to rely on your numbers to sabotage our plan to awaken Groudon."
"Now that we can't get the orb, you're blaming me instead?"
He had already sent out his Camerupt to search for the Red Orb, planning to seize control of Groudon the moment it awakened. He never expected to get stuck at this critical step.
Just moments ago, he had also sent Camerupt forward, trying to step into the edge of the magma pool.
But even a heat-resistant Pokémon like Camerupt couldn't help but let out a painful scream the instant it touched magma infused with Groudon's divine power. Its hooves were instantly charred black, scaring it into retreating again and again.
Their proud Pokémon, they who were invincible in Hoenn's underground world.
Before the primordial divine might of Groudon and Kyogre, they were as fragile as toys.
