Chapter 152 - Chapter 529: Selene

Hearing this unfamiliar voice, Axel, who was just about to head out, froze.

"Damn, is this what it feels like to get something for nothing?"

He had just been planning to go out and look for a clue. Before he even put on his jacket, the clue came knocking on its own.

Axel put on his jacket and jumped down from the second floor.

On the other side, Sun had already opened the door, rubbing his head as he looked at the girl standing outside with a headache.

Just as Axel had guessed, the Pokémon beside this girl was also from the number-one tiger-in-the-universe series, Torracat.

The main fighting forces in Alola all seemed to favor this kind of Pokémon. In fact, they really were strong. Otherwise, Shasha wouldn't have gotten nominated by the eight major Aurient gyms at only level forty.

The girl was wearing a light yellow floral top, tied with a bow at the waist, and green shorts that showed off her slender, fair legs.

Paired with short black hair and turquoise-blue eyes, she looked full of youthful energy.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

— Name: Selene

— Traits: Unlimited Leveling (Gold), Data First (Supreme)

• Unlimited Leveling: After obtaining this trait, Pokémon no longer have bottlenecks. As long as they battle, they can keep leveling up all the way to the limit.

• Data First: With this trait, battles do not take divine roles or other factors into account. Only Pokémon level, skill power, and skill mechanics are calculated.

▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬

After reading Selene's two traits, Axel lightly stroked his chin and fell into thought.

"System, is she your real mom?"

[System (baring teeth): Woof! Woof! Woof!]

"Fine, if not then not. Why are you barking?"

Axel couldn't help feeling a bit of a stomachache. No wonder Selene was able to put an end to Team Rainbow Rocket.

With these two traits combined, she could basically be called the only true player in the Pokémon world.

First, Unlimited Leveling. As long as she battles, she levels up.

That means her Pokémon don't really need to get energy from food. They just need to keep fighting to gradually raise their levels.

Other people's Pokémon can also level up through battle, but they mainly still rely on consuming energy.

Aptitude means absolutely nothing to Selene. In theory, even a Caterpie could be trained into the strongest.

Then there's Data First. Under this trait, the skills of veteran trainers and the divine roles of gods are partially erased.

Selene's battles are just like a player's. Only power and level matter.

You're a level 50 Kyurem and you want to beat my level 60 Beedrill? Dream on!

A mere Dialga wants to use Roar of Time to send me back to another time?

I use Protect once and don't you just blow up.

Top-tier Pokémon have powerful weather moves that are hard to replace?

My level 1 Torkoal can steal your Ho-Oh's weather. Are you mad yet?

The trait descriptions look complicated, but they're actually very simple. Her training and battle style are infinitely close to that of a player.

Of course, Axel didn't really want the Data First trait right now. His Pokémon were all on their way to becoming gods. Getting this trait would be pure self-nerfing.

It could be collected, but absolutely not equipped.

"Mr. Axel?", A soft, pale hand waved in front of Axel's face.

"Huh, what is it?"

Axel came back to his senses and realized that Selene was already less than twenty centimeters away from him, her turquoise-blue eyes looking at him eagerly.

"I just asked if we could have a battle before going to Professor Kukui's lab. Why didn't you say anything?"

Sun took half a step back, making one last effort to keep Selene from getting beaten up.

"Selene, listen to me, it's really not appropriate."

"There's nothing inappropriate about it!", Selene shot Sun a fierce look, scaring him into retreating with just one sentence.

Then she put on a pure smile, blinking her big eyes as she looked back at Axel.

"Is it okay? I heard from Professor Kukui that you're really amazing."

Axel: "..."

'Alright. You have to fight the protagonist early. Otherwise, who knows when you won't be able to beat them anymore.'

Emmm… of course, Axel felt that possibility was still pretty small.

Even though divine roles don't work on Selene, Axel was very confident that he played skills much better than she did.

Also, many of his traits were pure stat boosts. Selene might never catch up to his Pokémon's levels in her entire life.

Hearing Axel agree, Selene's eyes instantly lit up, "Then let's fight right now, okay?"

"No problem," Axel nodded.

Selene blinked, "Then why haven't you released your Pokémon?"

"They're already out," Axel jutted his chin, signaling Selene to look to the side.

The next moment, the one that had just finished eating a huge bundle of grass raised its head, and the entire small courtyard was instantly filled with a blizzard.

'You ignore divine roles? Then let me show you what one hundred thousand horsepower looks like!'

Boom! Bang!

"Miaow~"

Torracat let out a miserable cry and was sent flying without any warning, landing on a pile of snow that Glastrier had already condensed in advance, its stamina completely emptied.

Looking at Torracat lying in the snow pit, Selene had a blank look on her face.

"It already started?"

Sun looked at Selene with pity, wearing the expression of someone who had been through it before.

"No, it's already over. I told you not to fight."

Selene covered her face with both hands, unable to believe it, "But… but my Torracat could clearly hold on for a long time under Mister Hala."

"Mr. Axel is also a regional peak. He shouldn't beat my Torracat into this state, right?"

On the other side, Axel had already sprayed healing medicine on Torracat and handed it into Selene's arms.

"Alola hasn't established a League and has always been somewhat isolated from the world, so the overall trainer level is a bit weaker."

"But it's still okay. At least your growth speed looks pretty good."

"Are other regions really that strong?", Selene's eyes lit up, a kind of emotion called longing appearing on her face.

"They're indeed pretty good. If you go out and see more, you might get stronger even faster."

"Emmm… right now, I'd recommend the Unova region."

"The boss over there was killed by my Pokémon, but the small fry are still around. If you go there to train, you can clean up the leftovers."

"Okay!", Selene nodded vigorously, looking at Axel with admiration.

"Thank you, Mr. Axel, for clearing things up for me. In exchange, I'll treat you to the best food in the Alola region!"

After saying that, Selene hugged Torracat and rushed out the door again.

Sun waved at her back, "Hey, did you bring money?"

"I did, I brought it! A full two hundred!"

Sun blinked, falling into deep thought as he looked at the two hundred lying under his foot.

Axel twitched the corner of his mouth, "Let's go to the lab first. The local specialties probably aren't coming back."

Just then, Regirock's voice suddenly came through Axel's Rotom.

["Dad, there seems to be a large-scale Pokémon intrusion near the Sun and Moon Research Institute.]
